[D5 LE] Combat Event: Beast of Kinuran

[Mirumoto Shigure]

Shigure just nodded as he used his riffle to keep himself from falling to the ground. The flow of water was refreshing as some of his wounds were closed. "I thank the kami... what was that thing?" The Dragon was curious.

[Otomo Koroshi]

"Gaki." Koroshi answered quickly. "Though normally they aren't so...physical. Or big. That one had been feeding on its food for a long time to reach such...size."

The Otomo wondered if it was ok to say size for something that was half miasma. Spirits were cool but they defied most physical descriptions.

"If I had to guess, I would say its food is violence or blood or lifeforce. Considering the uh...floaty spirit eating thing." He mimed stabbing and chewing for the audience needlessly.

[Akuta]

Creeping out of a slum alleyway with a blade in hand, the form of Akuta melts out of the shadows with a grim expression. He had hear the roars as he was investigating the area and was prepared for the worst...but when he spots the dead creature and the trio of samurai present, he pauses, posture going from predator to guarded. He'd slowly approach, giving a loud cough to alert the group to his presence as to not catch a spell or a few rounds from a firearm to the chest.

"Oi, what the fuck happened over here?"

He was dressed in a deep navy blue kimono that was heavily patched, the left side hanging down revealing the ugly black and blue mark that ran the length of his arm and shoulder.

[Tassu]

As the ashes floated away, the samurai could see 'something' gleaming among the tattered furs and broken bones. Something that seemed man-made.

[Mirumoto Shigure]

Shigure looked to the side where no one was and nodded. He looked at the ash rising. Then looked at the ronin that just appeared. "This creature attacked us... but is it supposed to look like that?" The Mirumoto looked at the Otomo.

[Otomo Koroshi]

Koroshi waved at the ronin and looked at Yūrei to see if she recognized the rude samurai. He looked like a former Crane or maybe an older samurai with great skincare. The other ronin could handle it, the Otomo wasn't in the mood to speak to curious onlookers.

The remains of the spirit beast were more important. "Don't touch it with your hands, bad energy can spread from touch. Have you got a stick Mirumoto-san?"

Koroshi leaned down next to the corpse to look at it closely from where he could.

[Tassu]

Among the remains laid a katana, sheathed in badly burnt saya. Yet, despite the damage, a small mon could be seen inscribed to the hilt of the blade.

[Mirumoto Shigure]

He looked at the debris not touching anything using the barrel of the rifle to move the katana toward the Otomo. "Otomo sama seems that this creature is not what it seems... do any of you recognize the mon?" He asked to the others around.

[Yūrei]

Yūrei gives a half nod to Akuta befoe squatting down to peer at the blade.

[Akuta]

Approaching the group closer now, Akuta gives an inclination of his head to his fellow ronin.

"This big fucker made all the noise, eh? Not a surprise...heard that this thing was wandering around these past few nights. Good thing you three were here."

When the katana was produced from within the remains, the wolf would peer at it as well. Normally, he would have just grabbed the damn thing, but the Imperial was present and they were one of the things that competed for 'most annoying samurai' along with the maskers.

[Otomo Koroshi]

Koroshi looked at the sword as the Mirumoto moved it. The mon might be familiar.

Koroshi could see a mon depicting a pincer holding a veil.

[Otomo Koroshi]

"Why did it have to be one of them. That is 0 percent good. 100 percent bad." Koroshi said, ripping off a tattered part of his peach shirt and wrapping his hands with it. He gingerly picked the katana off the ground with the burned saya and held it at a short distance from his body. His other hand has his densai out and is typing a message to Miya Nishida, anyone who wanted to read it upside down could.

Koroshi: Fought a gaki.
Koroshi: Found a sword in the heart of the remains.
Koroshi: Scorpion sword. Personal mon. Diplomatic problem incoming.
Koroshi: Taking the sword back to embassy. Need to talk.

"The Imperial house claims this trophy until such time as the family of the original wielder can be reached. If anyone strongly disagrees I believe the Imperial representative can be reached through the embassy, and can grant permission for a duel." Koroshi said with as much authority a lime green and purple blur can muster.

[Mirumoto Shigure]

"I am not challenging your authority sama... but shouldn't we alert the local authorities?" He wondered "at least let them know of what has transgressed here and what has repossessed by the Imperial families." The idealistic samurai wondered.

[Akuta]

Glancing over the mon and then the densai typing, Akuta frowns a bit. "It would likely be the best course of action to inform the authorities, given that the guard tower is right over there," he'll say, pointing in it's direction. "Or at least have their shugenja check you over to ensure there are no lingering effects."

[Otomo Koroshi]

Koroshi stopped for a moment to think. The Mirumoto was right, it was proper to inform the guards at least. The Scorpion had a duty to protect the area and they would need to be informed about the gaki. The arrival of the ronin seemed suspiciously on time for the end of the fight. But he hadn't threatened them, and agreed with the Mirumoto about what Koroshi considered the right thing to do was. "Yes, of course. At the very least I will require some purification for the blood. And a new shirt..."

The Otomo thought about the blood, then about water, and finally about his lessons of the memory of water. Perhaps...

"Let's walk that way while I speak to the water kami." He began towards the tower. "And by the way, what is your name ronin-san?"

[Yūrei]

Yūrei offers no objection to the plan, reasoning that Koroshi might be one of the single digit number of samurai on planet that would genuinely seek to resolve the problem honorably.

Instead she hovers protectively at his shoulder. Eyes continuing to scan the area.

[Akuta]

"Akuta," he offers, walking along with them. "Local," helpfully answering the potential follow up question.

[Mirumoto Shigure]

"Mirumoto Shigure..." the Dragon nodded. He walked beside the Otomo with his guard up. "it is an honor to meet you." he looked at the other ronin and nodded as they continued to walk.

[Otomo Koroshi]

"Otomo Koroshi! Esteemed member of the Imperial Embassy and courtier assigned planetside for the duration of the Winter Court. I enjoy long baths, dancing, loud music, reading from Leadership, and driving motorbikes. My favorite times of the day are just before dawn when I greet the heavens with song, dance, ritual prayers, and offerings, and just before night-time when I go on my evening constitutional like right now! I value honesty, and integrity, and loyalty, and courage, and punctuality, and discipline, and diligence, and humility, and charity, and compassion, and temperance, and justice, and endurance, and wisdom, and kindness, and courtesy, and duty, and patience, and generosity, and cautiousness, and perseverance, and excellence, and cleanliness, and enthusiasm, and joyfulness, and honor." Koroshi considered for a few more seconds, before continuing. "There are a few more, but those are my favorite."

It should not take long for the group to reach the guard tower.
