A Much-Needed Date [D2, LA]

[Matsu Eriko]

"Well, it's worth a try, absolutely. And yes, you look very good in a dress uniform." She smiled once again to push the idea further. "Besides, I'm sure that maybe sometime down the line when Kitsu Kanna interviews you down the line, there might be some pictures involved and you'll be well prepared for it! You don't want to be caught like...in workout sweats or something, right? Even if it befit the image of an action hero."

"Absolutely!" She smiled at the idea. "It might even be kind of romantic, actually."

[Matsu Hide]

Hide couldn’t help but smile back at that. Hey, she was actually able to put forth romantic ideas! “Yeah. Maybe get something nice to drink, take in the sights.”

“As far as Kitsu Kanna-san is concerned, I hope the stories I tell aren’t too implausible.”

[Matsu Eriko]

Eriko made her way over to one of the coin-operated tower viewers by the railing. "I can't say I know how the Lion press works around here but if she's anything close to what they usually do for the 'paper', I'd say that you don't need to do any sort of implausible exaggeration and they're going to do all of that work for you. Something about making it worth it for the audience. Besides, you can't make up anything that we've been through even if you tried. Just remember to not make it seem like our hosts are bad people or anything."

[Matsu Hide]

“Hey, I may be painfully honest sometimes, but even I know when not to even mention our hosts.” Hide leaned against the railing, eyes forward. “Just wanted to say I’m glad to be here with you.”

[Matsu Eriko]

Eriko would slouch down to use the viewer and turn it toward Hide's direction before she would peak up from above with a big grin on her face. "Aw, shucks, that's rather sweet of you. Not that it would relate to anything you could share in an interview but still very sweet of you! You know, if I haven't been obvious earlier and I swear I've been hitting you with a tetsubo this entire time but I'm very glad that you're here with me."

She let out a small cough, muttering in between breaths. "Andyoushouldstaylonger! Ahem! Oh, sorry there, city smog and all that."

[Matsu Hide]

“I mean… Maybe we can try and work something out. Y’know, about that smog issue.” A grin crossed Hide’s face as she most certainly caught what Eriko was saying. “Does that viewer really work? Last one I tried out had like smudges on the lenses or somethin’ and refused to focus.”

[Matsu Eriko]

"Smog issues are a problem around here," she chuckled out loud at that.

Eriko idly tapped on the controls that adjusted the magnification level. "Nah, not the way you would think you want it to. I've tried! I think somewhere down the line, the Scorpions got pretty tired of tourists using this thing to accidentally snoop on a few things. This thing used to have a pretty great view of the windows, you could even catch some liaisons happening and sometimes other underhanded things. Now it pretty much only focuses clearly on tourists' sights and such. You have to get your own if you want to catch anything interesting."

[Matsu Hide]

“Eh? So you tried, huh? What were you trying to look at?” Hide asked, turning her head to face Eriko with an amused smile.

[Matsu Eriko]

"Would you believe me if I told you that sometimes I find myself running up the walls for something to happen even in this city?" She smirked. "You know...clues for my case but in lieu of that, trying to catch people unawares when they think they're alone. It's a Kuni ancestral pastime, says me. They say if you look closely enough at some of these windows, you might catch a celebrity doing some really shady things. It could be something naughty. Or murder. Or practicing some deviant hobby."

After a pause, she turned a bit serious. "Like train collecting."

[Matsu Hide]

“Ah, yes, the famous Kuni ancestral pastime of seeing something they shouldn’t have. Maybe it’s a good thing these things don’t work that way.” Hide reached over and tapped the viewer. “Imagine seeing something juicy but they saw you see them. These things are out in the open n’ stuff. Binoculars and sitting in a car is a lot better for that kind of thing. Or so all my detective movies tell me.”

[Matsu Eriko]

"Eh, I think a Kuni wouldn't mind people knowing that they know something about people." She gave a shrug with a smirk on her face. "They are Crab, after all, and confronting something head-on typically is their style. However, now that I'm a Matsu, I suppose it's my duty to be bold and furious. To confront people head on the field of battle...when I snoop and discover something I shouldn't have. That works for the Family, right?"

She held on to the viewer with one hand and swung around so that she was beside Hide. "I suppose I'm already in trouble."

[Matsu Hide]

“In trouble? What kind of trouble we talking about?” Okay, that definitely got Hide curious. Well, other than the whole Scions deal, she had no idea what it could be.

[Matsu Eriko]

Eriko blinked at Hide, thinking it was rather painstakingly obvious. "You're really clever but I guess you can be forgetful sometimes. I mean that whole business with the True Scions and whatnot. That's the trouble I'm talking about! Unfortunately, they didn't quite go away once we got married. I hope this doesn't come as a surprise or nothing." She chuckled on an anxious note, while looking at Hide with a bit of uncertainty to see if she was at least on the same page with that.

[Matsu Hide]

“Ah, okay. I was worried that something else happened. The Scion stuff is always on the back of my mind. Don’t worry about that.” Hide looked honestly relieved as she stood up straight and ran her fingers through her hair. “Yeah, kind of hope they got the message the last time they tried something. I doubt it, they seem kinda stupid for poking a Matsu.”

[Matsu Eriko]

"I think it'll be a while before they try anything too stupid." She smiled winningly at her wife. "Last time was an anomaly. They probably figured that they could jump me on some remote world without any trouble. The wedding was the revenge...Yeah, I'm pretty sure they're done by now. They probably don't have that many people they can throw at us anymore."

[Matsu Hide]

“The wedding was a low blow. I mean, I’m glad none of us got grievously hurt or, well, killed. Sucks that my shoulder got hit, though.” Hide sighed as she shook her head. “On Asakaze they hired a bunch of ronin, yeah? They probably do that kinda deal. Hire ronin under the guidance of someone in the organization proper.”

[Matsu Eriko]

"I've thought about that but they might have some stiff competition around here. It's likely most of the Clans scooped most of them up in a hurry for Winter Court and they don't have much else to hire...except for the really desperate ones but that's neither here nor there. Am I on a date with you or the True Scions?" She jumped off the viewer and put herself right beside Hide.

[Matsu Hide]

“Oh! Yes. Me. Definitely me. Got any other places around here you enjoy? It is my first time here, after all.” Hide relaxed, the less talking about the Scions the better. They always pissed her off.

[Matsu Eriko]

"Great! You're much smarter and better looking, too," Eriko said with a pleased smile before waving her to follow her as she walked away. "Come on! Let me show you all the funky trees around here. I bet you can't tell which ones are the fake ones!"

“Don’t tempt me to poke all of them to find out!” Hide caught up to walk side-by-side with Eriko, enjoying the company and the scenery.
