D2 Information Event: Sake and Skullduggery (Roleplay thread)

[Usagi Rei]

"Is it that delicate?" Rei said, frowning as he looked at the device. He wasn't sure, but it seemed like drunkenly dropping a lady's camera was not the way to her heart.

Carefully, he put his hands behind his back. "I can see why you'd want to document it. The glamor, the fashion, the romance... World of Dreams is a lovely place to explore art." He said.

Rei cast Yesugen a sidelong glance. "Yes, peace attained through alcohol. Terrific." He smirked, swaying for just a moment before he steadied himself.

[Yoritomo Seika]

"Yes, art," she said without any sarcasm; she truly noted the skill behind it, reminding her of paintings. "I suppose one could say this is an example of how the entirety of the Empire can get along. To document it could be endearing."

"I mean, it's good engineering," Seika hurriedly defends her 'baby,' which of course is Watanbe-made. "But these things have sensitive settings, you know? And I've done some customization, too. Anyway... in a way, I'm in all the photos I take, right? In spirit."

Or, in tonight's case, in spirits. Lots of them.

"There's all kinds of illusions here, too," she adds, waving a hand airily at both Unicorn and Hare. "On this planet. Truth and illusions... they both make great pictures. Great art... Like, is this peace an illusion? Or is all the fighting and stuff an illusion, and we're just not drunk enough to wake up from it the rest of the time?"

As she twists sideways to capture a shot of the heimin waiter offering a fresh glass of sake to Yesugen, she sways a bit nearer to Rei.

[Matsu Eriko]

Katsutoshi blinked a few times while tried to remember which one he was drinking now. "Oh, White Rat! It's quite rich but very tasty." He raised it for another sip.

"True about us Firefly, we don't usually stick around on the surface for long! But I asked for this post so here I am. Felt like the right time for trying something completely different, you know?" He did his best not to look at where his arm used to be. "But yeah, I've been in a lot of conference rooms lately so this is a nice change."

He looked over to the Ikoma and saw a Spider walk up to talk to her. "Oh, great! I will try to catch her this evening, thank you Matsu-sama. In the meantime, may I ask, what sort of things do you handle?" Maybe she was one of those famed tacticians?

"Huh, quite a name." I wonder if it's a secret ingredient...would the Scorpions hide a secret like that in plain sight? "I think I got Dark Bloom something but it's all free and fancy sake in the end, right?"

With that, she raised her glass and joined the Hotaru in taking a sip from her own drink. "Hm, not my usual booze but I don't think I'd get upset if someone gave me this as sake. I don't think I'd do more than a few cups. Not the sort of thing you'd exactly you would have at the end of the day but maybe for a shindig like this?"

Her gaze did go to the lost arm momentarily but she knew better than to stare for too long. "Oh me? I guess I'm something of a gopher and an ear on the ground. I've got assigned her due to my previous familiarity with the World of Dreams, have a few contacts here when it comes to looking for things from lost pets to cyphers. I suppose they keep me around because I know where to look, comes with the territory as a witch hunter and investigator, you know?"

"I'd imagine alcohol often results in the opposite," Yesugen said, adjusting her glasses; she was indeed blissfully unaware of how much of a huge NERD she looked like at that moment. "Though I will say that any violence while intoxicated is less likely to be coordinated." She pursed her lips. "Lethal, though? Uncertain."

The Mantis' antics managed to baffle Yesugen that she didn't notice the sake until a good while longer. "You needn't have bothered," she said, taking the glass anyhow out of politeness.

"Where were we...? Ah. Illusions." Her eyes fluttered as she slowly pieced together some sort of answer. "I'm not entirely sure about the philosophy you're suggesting."

[Kuni Koyuki]

A particular Scorpion samurai was having a time of his life, leaning to a table with several small sake glasses in front of him, taking small sips from them, then looking up as if he had any idea what 'taste profile' meant. In reality his eyes were on the audience, Sadae trying to see who was talking with whom - not that he was strictly interested in sake business. It was more that it was his work to figure out who knew whom and who could benefit from the services of his agency.

One member of that audience, who had drunk enough to be rather tired of the vast majority of them. Circled around the edge of the party stalking in much the same way as Sadae. Although, for her purposes, it hardly helped her as much as it helped him. However, one doesn't stop simply because they're falling behind. Stepping up beside his table she took measure of the surroundings first, the glasses laid out, and then finally appropriately turned to him.

"Greetings, Yogo-sama. Might I join you for a bit?" she asks.

[Soshi Kioku]

When Kioku heard Soshi Biochemicals would be holding this event, she thought she should find the time to at least swing by the mall after leaving work.

Her shift for the day meant she'd necessarily have to be slighty late, but she knew at least a few people who worked in Biochemicals and she was interested in taking at least a look at what they'd developed this time.

The large crowd might not be exactly her element... but then again, they'd be expecting many visitors in the Sanctuary for the winter as well, so maybe that could be a chance to mingle with some who might show up there later.

Hinata looked happily blank and swayed slightly to one side as he listened.

"Well I have no idea how you become a manager. Doji-samaaa!! has never told me. As for becoming an idol, it was easy. I'd just finished my schooling at Shiro Satsuki and was waiting to be assigned somewhere when Doji-sama came and told me to come with him. A quick shuttle to the Kakita system and then I met the other boys and started training for group. Then we started recording and doing concerts."

Damn. He is the perfect courtier. Absolutely impossible to read in any capacity.

"Are all idols shugenja nowadays? Do you have a shrine behind the scene to allow you to perform your religious duties in between two rehearsals?"

[Hotaru Sakura]

Reki turned her attention to the new arrival, studying her a moment before speaking, "Hotaru-san," She looked down at her own chest and shrugged, "Regulations state all must displayed. Most are more achievements really, there are a few combat ones. Staff officers collect the former more than the later one might say. Akodo Reki, Gunso, Operations Staff, 52nd Akodo Strike Legion."

She looks out to the crowd, "It's what I anticipated." Which did not actually answer Sakura's question...

"And yourself?"

"Ah! sugoi! Akodo-sama must have achieved a lot then." She looked at all the shinies on her chest. "It's...not what I Expected, but this is my first such outing, so...not sure what to expect. A lot of people seem to have come at least. And hey, the drinks are actually good.!" She held up a small glass in her hand with a smile. "How does Akodo-sama find the drinks?" She asked not noticing.

[Miya Nishida]

"I am Mirumoto Shigure, a simple man with not much to lose." The Dragon bowed and took a seat. "I am no theologian. I am a survivor, sama. A path given to this one."

"Mirumoto? So a bushi? I see."

Nishdia sat down, slowly. He swayed a bit until he was safely seated.

"So I take it you were in a war when you say you were a survivor?" he asked unconcerned.

[Yogo Sadae]

As far as the young nakado was concerned, the Kuni were just the right kind of fucked up and thus the evening had gotten much more interesting.

[Susumu Sumiko]

"Hmm? Oh no, no, thank you, I'll be alright," Nichi said with a amicable smile, and nodded her head to the seat next to her. "Ikoma, uh, Nichi," she held back a hiccup. "It's nice to meet you?" Was it a question, it sounded like a question but it probably wasn't.

Sumiko moved to the offered seat with a smile.

"Lovely to meet you as well Ikoma-sama, I'm Susumu Sumiko. I can't say I was expecting to spend my evening being a sake test subject but being that all 3 were quite nice I'd say it was worth it right? Did you have a favourite?"

[Ikoma Nishi]

Sumiko moved to the offered seat with a smile.

"Lovely to meet you as well Ikoma-sama, I'm Susumu Sumiko. I can't say I was expecting to spend my evening being a sake test subject but being that all 3 were quite nice I'd say it was worth it right? Did you have a favourite?"

"Certainly the first, the Dark Blossom blend," Nishi answered, keeping the friendly smile in place while she assessed the other young woman. "And yourself? You seem to be holding up well in comparison to most everyone else, Susumu-san," she chuckled lightly. The world spun a little and Nishi held onto the table between them for support.

"Are all idols shugenja nowadays? Do you have a shrine behind the scene to allow you to perform your religious duties in between two rehearsals?"

"I'm the only one in Drop! Naz-kun, Tomo-kun and Ki-kun are from the Academy and Yuta-kun was trained as a yojimbo first. If I need to I'm supposed to go to a local shrine wherever I am, but I'm supposed to put the group first before priest things."

He took a drink from his left glass and then looked at the right glass as if trying to figure out why it now had more in it than the left one.

"... maybe." Rei said agreeably. What? It took him a few moments to sort that out. "There may be illusions everywhere, but take it from someone who's lived here a few years. It's not worth trying to sort reality from illusion here."

Seika swayed closer to Rei. Rei swayed closer to Seika. A mild collision, their shoulders bumping, occurred. "My apologies, Yoritomo-sama." Whoops, were they standing too close? Nahhhhhhh...

[Susumu Sumiko]

"Certainly the first, the Dark Blossom blend," Nishi answered, keeping the friendly smile in place while she assessed the other young woman. "And yourself? I think it was called, the sweetness is just something I like" Sumiko nodded "and I was careful in my sampling it seems. I've seen a few taking multiple cups of each, and well..." she looked around, amused "I think there are going to be a few headaches in the morning."

I think it was called, the sweetness is just something I like" Sumiko nodded "and I was careful in my sampling it seems. "The dark blossom had the prettier bottle I thin..." Sumiko started, then her attention got pulled by a creature on the girls shoulder.

"Ano...Ikoma-sama, you appear to have an animal on your shoulder? Is that a mouse?" She leaned closer to look at it.

[Kuni Koyuki]

"Uh... sure." Sadea blinked, looking up from his drink, his mild frown turning into a sly grin. "Good evening, Kuni-san. I hope the Fortunes have been kind to you today." As far as the young nakado was concerned, the Kuni were just the right kind of fucked up and thus the evening had gotten much more interesting.

"I do hate walking the edge of the room like some sort of gloomy revenant, thank you, Yogo-sama," she says, there was no humor in her tone but there was the look in her eye. Taking a seat opposite Sadae she settled in, and leaned. Glancing over the assortment of drinks only briefly before focusing on the man himself. "They have done their work," she said, not looking directly at him for that. "Kuni Koyuki, I'm attached to the embassy here serving as an attaché."

"One who has overstayed her welcome among the patrons here, it would seem." Glancing out over the room, she marks a few of the faces that different levels of wrong had transpired. She could blame a lot of things, but really it was just her.

Were the Phoenix angry at the Crane already or not yet? It was hard remembering all the clans the Crane had given offense to in the later years at this point.
