[Day 1 LA] Greasing the Hands of Commerce (Kochako Fried Chicken, Expecting)

The Matsu couldn’t help but chuckle. “I don’t mind them. I kind of ended up that way myself. Though, it was like that and an action flick rolled onto one.”

Hide took a piece of the chicken, watching the ronin curiously. “So… Got any personal favorite romances, then?”

Yūrei raises an eyebrow at that,clearly interested in the story but not wishing to pry.

As she starts demolishing a wing.
"West Empire Story, the one with the Unicorn and the Lion samurai who fall in love. It's had so many remakes and redrafts, but the music and the passion just spark joy. Sometimes I want to be the stoic Lion bushi whose friends are trying to talk them out of mixing the the foreign unicorn. Sometimes I want to be the fun outgoing unicorn helping the Lion see the world a little differently."

"Funny, that. My mom was a Moto before marrying into the Matsu." Hide couldn't help but smiling at the thought of her mother. "You wouldn't guess it, but she's the hardass of my parents. She'd get so mad if we didn't at least do wrestling forms correctly. I mean, with good reason. If you do it wrong, you could injure yourself."

"It must have been fun growing up with so much different knowledge about things at home. Have you ever had a chance to visit a Unicorn world?"

“Sadly not. I bet they’re all pretty interesting.” Hide took one more leg, leaving the rest of the plate to the ronin. “Been in a Unicorn port, though.”

“I honestly also really like comedies. Sometimes I just like to turn my brain off and laugh.”

"Comedies? Any you'd recommend? Scorpion comedies can be a little dark sometimes. Lotta murder to a laugh track.

"Crab have some good comedy. Nothing fancy, good ol' physical comedy with a side of visual gags." Hide leaned in, huge smile on her face. "My personal favorite is one I saw at a hotel in Crab space. Was about a transit shuttle that got food poisoning and they had to find someone to land the shuttle. I watched it a couple of times after that, and I always find some gag I missed."

"You know it's good when you're still finding new stuff. Sounds like a good setting for a comedy. The Crab have that whole theatre tradition of non-actors being actors? Come to think of it, for a comedy that could really work."

Finishing the last piece with a little sigh.
"There was a Scorpion comedy I really like as a girl about these two magistrates. One was a real hotshot city lawman, and he was so good he caused trouble for everyone else and got reassigned to this little idyllic frontier planet where the met the second magistrate, this kind but kinda derpy samurai. Turns out that the planet maybe isn't as idyllic as I thought, but all the gags are really funny. There's this running joke that whenever someone shows a photo of themselves in a scene their picture is always wearing the exact mask from the same."

"So you been here since you were pretty young? Or at least somewhere in Scorpion space." Hide asked curiously. Ronin tended to have varied lives, given how they operate and all that. "You seem to know a lot about the local area at least."

"So much to do here. But if you're ever looking for a guide or some advice about where to go or not go I am always available to aid an honoured samurai such as yourself?"

“Oh, of course! A local like you would know quite a bit about the locale.” Hide offered a sincere smile. “Ah, and if you ever need to talk to a Lion for something, you can come to me or Akodo Inasa.”

Bowing her head in thanks.

"Thank you for your kind offer, I might take you up on that one day. Maybe for Oshidama. But I should let you get back to your lunch Matsu-sama."
With a last napkin to get remove some remaining grease she stands and bows politely.
