[D11 EE Kioku Event] Somewhere over the Rainbow

As Dai's and Kanna's shots pierces it again, the myriad teeth and bones jitter, clatter, shake violently as it lets out another horrid, otherwordly wail that booms through the walls, shattering more of the already broken tempered glass windows on the left.

҈N҉O҉! y҉O҉U҉ c҉A҉n҉N҉O҉T҉!!! d҉I҉E҉!!! , the voice shrieks, its twisted muscles and multifarious teeth suddenly circling around as in a vortex.

This time, the lovecraftian tornado of flesh, bone and enamel hits and gnaws at the Ronin, slashing and piercing him rather badly, as [url=the creature starts to crackle, somewhat like the Raven had, first slowly, then violently, then leaving its horrifying image almost impossible to recognise before it finally fades into nothing, leaving behind only the putrid smell of the foul ochre soup it had for blood.

The creatures were banished. The lab was safe. It was done.

The ronin stood for a moment longer before crumpling to the floor.

[Kitsune Kiyoshi]

"Thank you for helping us." Kiyoshi said to the snake as he carefully gathered the samples and notes. "Hopefully, those spirits will not be tied to this place anymore and will find peace."

[Kitsu Kanna]

Immediate danger over. Non-immediate?

"Soshi-sama, Kitsune-sama, are the realms stabilized or should we worry about more creatures showing up?"

[Thimacek]

"Ssssspiritsss? Oh that exssplainssss it!", the snake hisses, although Kiyoshi does understand it. Then, looking at the vials and papers in Kiyoshi's hand. "SSssso... we couldssss help them, yesss? Are thesssse sssssafe?

Over to the left, above another desk, the spirit of a girl appears again, still looking a bit wobbly as a reflection on water, but much more stable now.


"Mom... I'm here!", the child says, its voice as if enveloped by some whooshing, but clearer than before. "Dai-san, nice man-san, kaa-san", she says somewhat exasperated as she sees the Ronin on the ground and sees the wounds on Kioku more clearly. "Kaa-san, you... you'll all be okay, right? Tell me you'll be okay!"

The vial Kiyoshi recovers from the semi-destroyed desk on the left seem alright, if a bit roughed up, a label reading 'OBOROZUKI DRAGON NEWT' on them. The vial on the ground, on the other hand, is cracked. Tiny efts, still with gill buds, move about the tube hastily, as if excited or frightened, the medium they're in slowly leaking out of the container.

[Soshi Kioku]

Immediate danger over. Non-immediate?

"Soshi-sama, Kitsune-sama, are the realms stabilized or should we worry about more creatures showing up?"

The Soshi, seeing the nightmarish creature vanish along with its companion, lets out a breath she seemed to be holding for a long time.

"See, you're fine!", she says to the girl behind her. "Go with him, he'll take you to your mom", she says, pointing to the man who left his own children behind to come back and help. "Thank you", she says bowing to the man with a relieved half smile before turning to Kanna, to which the man bows back and nods before taking the young girl's hand and disappearing down the corridor to meet his own kids.

"Kitsu-san, Kitsune-san", she says, not really seeing the other Soshi yet. "Thank you so much for this. I... don't want to think what could have happened if not for you." Her eyes go down to the ground and she bows deeply, her face a mix of thankfulness and... shame, perhaps?" she looks directly at Kanna. "I... think we should be safe. I... never expected something like this. They... seemed to be coming for me. As if I had chosen to leave her behind. Me, and..." she sees the samples in the Kitsune's hand, and lets out another sigh of relief.

At that moment she hears Omoi's words.

"...Omoi-chan. It... it's really you. Are you... also mad at me? Do you also think I abandoned you?..."

[Thimacek]

"Kaasan, I..."

The spirit girl's eyes fall to the ground for a moment as well, but they're soon up again. "I... had thought so, at first. I... I didn't know why you hadn't come back. There was just a loud boom, and when I got up I saw noone around. I run to see the Olms, but... they were strange. Everything, everyone was strange. And you weren't there, so I thought...

She shakes her head slightly, then looks at Kioku, then the Kitsune. "But I know you did not forget me now. Nice man-san and Dai-san, they've told me so. They told you sent them there to help... right, nice-man-san?"

Then, looking at Dai-san still down and bleeding. "Dai-san... he... will be alright, won't he?"

[Soshi Kioku]

"He... he will, Omoi-chan. He will. And... Tsukune's heart, I want to talk to you so much, Omoi-chan. But..."

She turns to Kanna and the Kitsune. "Kitsune-san, Kitsu-san, we need to help Dai-san!"

[Kitsune Kiyoshi]

"Ssssspiritsss? Oh that exssplainssss it!", the snake hisses, although Kiyoshi does understand it. Then, looking at the vials and papers in Kiyoshi's hand. "SSssso... we couldssss help them, yesss? Are thesssse sssssafe?

"I hope so." he turned towards Kioku. "Soshi-sama, the olm need water..."

Then he was called to help Dai and he rushed over, already reciting the prayer as he approached.

[Soshi Kazumi]

Kazumi remained on edge for a few moments seeing if the monster had anymore nasty surprises in store for them. After a beat they holstered their Sidearm and emerged from the hallway looking to others there and down to Dai and seeing the others have already shifted focus to help him.

Kazumi surveyed the scene the destruction and carnage "Does anyone know why this happened?" They asked looking back to the others.

[Dai]

Hearing the Scorpion's question he tries to find his voice, "Lost souls... they fought to prevent others from being saved."

He gingerly pushes himself up to his feet and nods thanks to the Fox, "They hunger for the potential of life they couldn't have but the olms and newts still might."

He then shrugs a little, "At least I think so."

He gingerly pushes himself up to his feet and nods thanks to the Fox, "They hunger for the potential of life they couldn't have but the olms and newts still might."

He then shrugs a little, "At least I think so."

"The creatures at the lab... they were deformed after that loud noise.", the semi-transluscent girl says as as if in an answer of sorts as she looks at the other man who shows up in the room, then grins hearing Dai's voice and nods. "Dai-san! You're alright!", she exclaims, releived.

"Kitsune-san, Dai-san and the others who were there must have seen them. There was a strong sense of loss, but also craving.... Hunger. They... we were empty, we felt empty. All who were still there. We craved for something, each of us. I... I had this craving for mom, this craving she'd been there with me., she adds, looking down at the ground as if ashamed.

"When the samples were gathered, Kitsune-san said mom would be able to help the Rainbow Olms. Lilysheen, Swingtail, Trustmenot... all of them. I was so happy! Even though I still wanted to see mom. But the others there... their fear and regrets turned to more craving, then to desire, then jealousy and hate. They seemed further distorted, and kept yelling about how mom was a deserter and a traitor..."

She shakes her head slowly, some fear in her eyes for a moment. But some time and some flickering later, her face colours into a smile.


"But... that hate seems gone now, ne? And... Kaa-san will be help the Olms...ne? They... they're ok, Kitsune-san?"

[Dai]

Dai retrieves his side arm, switches out the energy cell by reflex, then returns it to its holster at his belt.

Once done he smiles at the ghost child which, after everything else, was hardly the weirdest part of the day.

"It's good to see you again Omoi-chan. Thanks for your concern."

[Soshi Kazumi]

Kazumi pinched the bridge of their nose that extended beyond the mask and took a deep breath weird ass spirit shit, no idea why i get involved in stuff like this

"Well it looks like everyone is..." They looked at Dai and Kioku "more or less alright. I'll need to call this in, I'm sure the Scorpion will want to put their spin on the incident." They pull out a communicator and take a few steps to call the incident into the proper authorities.

Kioku bows to Dai in thanks as well, then nods to him and Omoi's spirit. "The link to Gaki-do created by the accident... that must be what they hungered for, then. Although..."

She whispers, more to herself than anyone in particular. "Deserter... traitor?"

She looks first at her child's spirit, then at Dai and the others. "They... feeling I had abandoned them. Leaving Omoi-chan behind. This... was never my intention. Tsukune and Kamashi-okara know how many times I wished I had been there to be gone with you, Omoi-chan..." She shakes her head. "But I felt... maybe if I lived on, I could do something. These spirits, though...", she adds, looking at Dai, then the others. "They... seemed to hunger after me too. They seeked out the budding olms and newts when they entered the Centre... but also me. They attacked me directly, as if I... attracted them here. Maybe strengthened a local connection to the realm of the hungry, even..."

[Soshi Kioku]

"I think they will be fine, Omoi-chan." he held up the vial. "But, we need to get them into a new container. Then, I can help Dai-san and your mother more."

[Thimacek]

"I think they will be fine, Omoi-chan." he held up the vial. "But, we need to get them into a new container. Then, I can help Dai-san and your mother more."

Finally properly turning her attention to Kiyoshi, Kioku widens her eyes and rushes to one of the benches still in more or less decent condition. "Ah! Right! Water! Culture medium, a new vial!" she says, scrambling to get it all. "I'll be right there, Kitsune-san!"

[Dai]

Another soft smile through the pain, "I am very glad to hear that. As long as the computers keep running it should keep going."

He looks to Kiyoshi, "That would be much appreciated Kitsune-sama, you've already done much, but do see to Soshi-sama first."
