The few personal files he has found were the keys he needed to learning the layout of the file system. With that in mind, and the fake credentials, he easily sliced his way into the proper personal accounts and logs he was seeking.

Dai finds out some details on Omoi's disease - apparently the "curse of Dreams", as Kioku calls it in her files, made her increasingly drowsy, sleeping more and more as time passed, although she seemed to be getting slightly better with treatment.

There are some things on the time they spent together, how Omoi at times asked about her dad - Kioku seemed rather sad that Omoi barely remembered him, but she told her stories of how he was a very dedicated agent and had given his life for them.

Omoi's favourite thing in the world seemed to be, exactly, the Olms. The notes say that she spent a long time playing with them - they were originally kept a few floors down, on B10, and Kioku and Omoi used to spend time together there. She also really liked colourful candy and sweets - possibly inspired by the Olms!.

She also had a liking for plushies. In fact, she had started a small collection of plushies not long before the accident, according to the dates in the files. That might explain why Kioku so interested in getting that Rainbow Olm plushie in the Arcade...

Sakura is somewhat surprised by Kiyoshi's idea, but she plays along with it, her head now back to working properly.

"I can't show you your mom, but I can help you talk to her." He took out his holorecorder. "If you want to say something to her, I can show it to her."

"Omoi-chan, with these Samples, your mom... she could bring them back. That would make you happy, wouldn't it?"

The images of the drakes Kiyoshi shows the girl inspire... mixed feelings in her. On the one hand, she's really interested in them. On the other...

The offer to say something to her mom, and Sakura's explanation wake up her attention and seem to calm her down a bit, though. "Oh, so she can bring them back?" She looks at Kiyoshi, pleading eyes. "Could... could I leave a message to her, then? Could... could you tell her I miss her? And... ask her to bring them back if she can? I... would like that very much. And... I would like... to see her one more time..."

Having helped Sumiko out of the situation she was in, Yesugen looks at Sakura and Kiyoshi as they deal with the ghost.

Fascinating, really... they seem to be succeeding.

As time passes, more ghost moths flutter around Sakura. No harm so far, so all good.

Meanwhile, another spirit shows up, this time besides Dai!

Dai is taken aback and shaken but still in control of his actions. Grabbing the keycard he quickly spins to find a terminal away from the apparition.

That said his task was a simple one and basic splicing and editing of footage was nearly instinctual at this point.

Within a few moments he turns the screen towards Omoi, "I know it's not the same but, here, a way to see her again in memories for now. I can't promise we can being her here - but you can at least have these."

The screen shows various spliced videos of Omoi and her mother in happier times stretching out as long as Dai could with the video files at hand before restarting. The videos shuffling each time so the order would not become stagnant.

The Utaku had a hard time trying to find the Fire-maned dog. Instead of that, she finds a different sample. She isn't sure what it is... but it seems to be in a relatively well-preserved condition.

If you want to examine the sample better, you can roll another Lore: Biology, Theology or Spirit Realms roll. That will take 1 Time Step instead of 2, and you can choose to take the sample regardless.

Alternatively, you can take another sample. This takes 2 Time Steps and two Lore: Biology, Theology or Spirit Realms rolls, as usual. The Free Raises apply to the first one, as usual.

Or you can just start trying to take whatever you find...
As said in the OOC thread, picking up random samples will have a random chance of getting something useful. This takes 2 Time Steps as well, and you can do a Lore: Bio, Theology or Spirit Realms. Your chance of getting more useful stuff is higher with a higher roll - don't worry about Raises! The Free Raises from before don't help here though, as this is done in a rush.

With Dai's work to show Omoi videos of a happier time and Kiyoshi recording her message to Kioku, a smile slowly finds its way to the girl's lips. She seems to be even slightly more colourful.


Omoi happy

"I... I remember that! And... that too" She looks at Dai "Thanks! Ah... what are your names? This... I feel better, I think... So she does still care about me, then? But why... I.. what happened? I just heard a big boom..."

Then, turning to Kiyoshi "You... can I ask you to record something else?" She turns to his recorder. "Okaasan, I... I love you very much, you know that? I... I hope I can see you again!"

Yesugen looked up to the ghosts. So far, nothing had hurt her at all. Right as she looked back at the sample, the gaki came out of nowhere with the steel chair! It bonked right off her skull and, if not for some luck on her part, would have hurt a lot more.

Though annoyed, she decided not to argue with an aggressive ghost. Instead, she readjusted her glasses then held the vial up again for a closer look.

That seems to be a Benikage Jellyfish sample instead. Your inspection makes it clear that the sample is intact and could possibly be used to do something with it. This might be recreating the Jellyfish itself, or produce something else out of it. It is cursed, however, so you'd have to deal with that before doing anything else.

The curse will probably linger with whoever has the curse in their hands until it is removed. That will remove some rolls, but we can deal with that later (expect a message in your PF).

Same applies for the Dark Silk sample, btw, which both you and Sumiko have!

"Nice to meet you, Dai-san!", the transluscent, now more colourful girl says with a bow. She then bows to Kiyoshi, thankful. "Thank you very much, nice person-san!", she says, then goes on to record that for her mother as well.

"You are sure this will reach her... right?", she asks, slightly concerned, but just for a moment. She then bows again, a wide smile on her lips. "I am glad mom knows you, mina-san. I... I just wish I could see her too...", she adds, somewhat wistfully, but soon smiles again. "Thank you so much! I hope we meet again...".



She turns around and starts to fade, walking into a wall before disappearing...

Dai then starts grabbing whatever he can find, without stopping to pay much attention to what it is. He can quickly see that not everything will be useful - there are some samples that seem charred, or dried up. But there are some things that seem potentially useful there...

Yesugen manages to get her hands on what must be the Fire-maned dog. She looks into the sample, studies it for a moment...

... and it's damaged. It didn't looked like it was when she first took it. But it is. A quick look, and she sees all similar samples whose codes seem to fit the Fire-maned dog's experiment seem to be damaged...

Including the one Sumiko got her hands on in the other bench, as she soon finds out as well. Now this is frustrating... But she still had that Oborozuki Dragon Newt sample, at least!

Sumiko and Yesugen are suddenly beset by another transluscent image. The dog-like creature that shows in front of them lets out a deep howl, that seem to freeze your heart - its anger and suffering, the suffering of possibly being the last existing remains of its kin, touching deep within your souls. Please roll vsFear 2 (Raw Willpower TN 15 + Honor), then roll an Investigation (Notice)/ Perception check before your next action!

Before Sumiko even has time to think, two other spirits appear - one before Dai, one before Sumiko.

Both of them seem to growl together, louder than anything you've heard before, and they move as if they were part of the same being. They look ferociously at all in the area, then say in a deep voice dark as a forgotten grave.

Just as you think you may be doomed with the spirits attacking you, they just fade, disappearing into nothingness and leaving the room in dead silence again...

At least Sumiko has that Oborozuki Dragon Sample... nothing else remaining to happen here, right? You can all go now?

Except Sumiko still doesn't seem satisfied... but you just might be able to drag her out soon, right?
