[D6LM] Long Long Drake

[Asahina Hinata]

Hinata looked slightly shocked at the sudden grab. Not that he minded it, but he hadn't been expecting it. Yes he'd been swinging his legs, but he'd actually not been in any immediate danger of falling. Not really.

No he was upset about something else.

"Oh Usagi-samaaa, I'm so sorrreeeeee Airi-channnnnnn!!!"

[Usagi Rei]

"What? What's wrong?" Rei looked around, eyes narrowing. With Hinata, it could be anything. Literally anything. Rei had no idea what to expect.

He looked at Hinata expectantly.

[Asahina Hinata]

"I got distracted and the air kami thought I was ignoring it so it wandered off . . . . "

Trust Hinata to summon an air kami with an even shorter attention span than he had . . .

"I can't talk to her anymore . . . "

He looked at the happy spine drake in despair.

[Usagi Rei]

"Oh." Rei tilted his head, considering a moment.

Then he smiled. "Hey, don't worry about it, Asahina-san. That was pretty neat, what you did. I didn't know she wanted me to climb up here. Thank you."

"Maybe we could try it again sometime?" He asked.

[Asahina Hinata]

"But I didn't warn her! She's not going to understand why I can't speak to her still . . . "

He looked about for his densai, but it and his backpack were on the ground below them and anyway dayflip had happened so he couldn't roll for another spell anyway . . . . wait, what?

[Usagi Rei]

Rei looked at the drake, happily flapping around. "She seems pretty occupied, anyway."

A moment, and Rei looked at Hinata with a smile. "If she brings the ball back, would you like to try throwing it for her?"

[Asahina Hinata]

"Oh . . . could I????"

Predictably the distress just fell off as if it had never been there.

[Usagi Rei]

"Wheeee, I'm so happy! Thanks, Rei-rei-dad! I love you so much!"

Rei smiled at Hinata, then looked out at the drake. "Airi! Airi!" He called, his voice taking on a singsong quality. It actually seemed rather tuneful.

"Here, girl! Bring dad your ball!" Rei held out his hands, cupped.

"Airi! Airi!" He called, his voice taking on a singsong quality.
"Here! Bring dad ball!" Rei-daddy-dad held out his hands, cupped.

As Hinata had predicted, Airi had no idea how kami, dayflip, dice-rolling or any of that complicated stuff worked, so she just assumed happy-happy-friend could understand her.

But she understood some humey-human speech. Especially daddy-dad speech! So she knew what he wanted, and after two pirouettes in the air - somewhat ungainly as they were with the extra weight of the ball - she went over to Rei, hovered just above his hand and threw it again.

She seemed quite expectant. Both for the ball to be thrown again, and... something else. She looked at Hinata, and hissed as eloquently as she could.

"Hiss! Hisssss! Hiss hiss, kwat kwat screeeeee. Screech!"

Then, looking expectantly to Rei, then to Hinata gain. "Screech screech kweek! Skweek Rrrei-rrrei skweek Hiiiiisssss!"

Rei looked at Airi, smiling, but sighing sadly. "When you could understand her... what all did she say?" He asked.

He passed the ball to Hinata. "Throw it like I did." He advised. "A nice slow arc."

"She was just excited to play with you, and it didn't happen enough."

He took the ball and very carefully copied what he'd seen Rei do. Luckily he was fairly agile sort and not bad at ball games, as his sand dervishing oshidama style had shown.
