Lineage [Day 5, EE]

[Kuni Koyuki]

Sitting down in the larger foyer of the House of Stone, Koyuki waited with her hands idly playing with her communicator. After having left Yakumo's hotel she still hadn't processed everything that happened. In fact, the world almost felt like it'd fallen further into the fog and yet there was a path, one she feared so greatly to step upon. It ended with the click, communicator turning off and being set down on the small table in front of her. Eyes scanning upward toward one of the digital clocks present within the room.

She'd sent word to the Firefly embassy. Hotaru Katusoshi was due any minute and she'd been asked to make a point of contact among them. She had Tsuyo, of course, and enjoyed the womans company greatly but for professional interests an artist was hardly the contact she needed.

[Hotaru Katsutoshi]

"Ah, hello there Kuni-san. I hope I am not late?"

He hovered in the doorway, but was of course right on time. The Firefly and Crab were old friends and working with them was often the best part of the job. Now that he had been here for half a year it didn't seem so daunting.

"Hotaru Katsutoshi, pleased to meet you." A smooth bow was offered. He noted the face paint, every Kuni was unique, and wondered if she knew the Lion's new Witch Hunter.

Rising to greet him, Koyuki was quick to return the bow. Glancing over his presentation she couldn't help but mark the little details no one else thought mattered but she knew did. Those one's that might tell you who a person is.

"Kuni Koyuki, attaché here. Pleasure is mine, Hotaru-san. Thank you for coming. You are right on time," she said. With a step toward the inner portions of the building she offered preamble to the statement, "Please, follow me. We have a common room we can use. I hope that the city has been treating you well?"

[Hotaru Katsutoshi]

"Thank you, it's nice to be here. The common room sounds good!" He nodded and walked with her. Perhaps her keen senses would be able to tell that he had almost, but not quite, adjusted to his own movements with a single arm. There was something slightly off about his gait, although it could also be the full gravity.

"Yes, no complaints, yet. Of course the Scorpion have not been very interested in the Firefly, so maybe that helps?" He shrugged. It was nice to be outside of the politics that plagued the Great Clans. "And you? I think you and I are both relatively new to World of Dreams?"

"You are as well then, I was asked to speak with you actually so that makes sense. Yes, I am new here to the world of dreams. I've been here for a couple of weeks now," she says, and then stops at a corner to direct him, "I'm trying to get some feelings out into other local points of interest. I might be here a while so it'll be good to have a point of contact with those in your embassy," walking up a half-set of stairs they come to a small landing with a pair of double doors at the center. Pushing through those doors they enter into the large common space. Koyuki doesn't gesture for it, but there's plenty of seating.

"I spoke with Hotaru Tsuyo the other day, and she spoke a bit about your clan. I do hope to make a contact out of you, however, Hotaru-san. Anything to drink?" she asks, moving over toward a bar in one corner of the room.

"Oh great! Yeah, 6 months for me. Took a while to get used to...the gravity, yeah." He nodded, as if convincing himself. "And it'll be good to have a fellow newcomer to talk to. I don't imagine I'll be going back into space any time soon."

Looking around the room he followed her to the bar. "Sure, what do you recommend? And Hotaro Tsuyo-san is incredible, have you seen her art? Genius! She's good people too. We've got a good group here, new guy turned up last night too. Feels busy in the embassy."

It felt like finding the on button for a puppy, but this puppy was a young 20-something that lit up with energy enough he only needed take flight to become his clan-mascot. Still, it was good to see in a way. Young guy didn't know too much yet, or maybe he knew more than her, she shrugged away the thought.

"If you want anything complicated, I'll have to call. Otherwise I'll just pour a couple whatevers and be done with it. I haven't seen her work, Hotaru Tsuyo's, no. We spoke a deal about it but that was all. Have you been around the galaxy at all, Hotaru-san, or is this your first?"

[Hotaru Katsutoshi]

Katsutoshi smiled at the offer. "Well, I've seen a few bits. But I was an engineer on a mining ship, so it was mostly space, bulkheads, and lots of rock... Oh, and a Kuni Whatever sounds just fine thanks!" He thought for a moment then pulled out his densai and placed it on a surface so he could tap in some commands. A picture came up. It was an asteroid, but it had turned into a sculpture. "Here's one of her pieces."

Pouring out a couple of whiskies into their respective glasses, Koyuki claims them both up and walks over to Katsutoshi. Bending and leaning in to take a look at the densai, getting a close look. "That is a pretty space rock," she says, without a hint of humor in her tone. Holding out one of the glasses for Katsutoshi.

"I know what it is like to live a long time in space, I grew up on a station myself. Kyuden Hida Prime, in- well, Hida prime. My mother was a part of a research team aboard the station and so we managed out a living there. It was a good place to grow up."

He took the offered glass with a nod and raised it. "Here's to spacers. It's odd being planetside but I'm getting to like it." The drink was sipped with appreciation for it's complexity.

"So do you do research yourself? Like your mother? My family are all still in the mining business. Pilots, engineers, prospectors." And here was, training to be a Diplomat. Life was strange.

"To spacers," she raises the glass, and then drinks. "No, I am not my mothers daughter in that way. I did adopt her affinity for the kami however, and took that with me into the expeditionary forces when I was younger," she says, walking over toward a seat near him and casually taking it for herself. Looking at him all the while as she continues, "But I left that service after a severe injury and post recovery I turned toward work in the diplomatic center. As a Kuni Shugenja, and veteran of the expeditionary forces I find myself as an attaché to diplomatic teams across Crab space."

"This is my first foreign assignment," she takes another slight sip.
