Description
Blue Moon gambling arcade is the largest and most popular of the many gambling houses that thrive on the winding streets of the 3rd Mercantile Distract. The façade of the gambling house is covered with blue and pink neon lights depicting a stylized moon rising above the never-sleeping city. Inside, the arcade is even more ostentatious, composed of polished dark plastic surfaces and incessantly throbbing sickly pink electric lanterns that light the otherwise dim hall. Rows of arcade machines, running computerized versions of Fortunes and Winds, stretch along the walls, their bright screen adding to the cacophony of light. Mahjong machines lay clustered in fours, representing the gambling tables of the old. A bar counter sells drinks and salty snacks, giving discounts to any customer paying with in-house chips. The heimin staff is well-groomed and polite to a fault, the waiters moving unobtrusively among those occupied with games to take orders.
The second floor of the arcade is reserved for recreational and casual games that provide no rewards beyond the pleasure of success. Musical games employing dance mats and biwa-shaped controllers stand next to outdated, Lion-built, military-class spaceflight simulators re-purposed as arcade games. The latter allow players to fight a campaign against the overtly militant and aggressive 'Heron clan', with missions simulating a protracted planetary embargo culminating in an encounter between two carriers that pits a squadron of human players against several wings of AI controlled fighters and bombers.

The righteous need not cower before the drumbeat of human progress. Though the song of yesterday fades into the challenge of tomorrow, the Fortunes still watch and judge us. Evil lurks in the datalinks as it lurked in the alleys of yesteryear. But it was never the alleys that were evil.
