Dai was bitter, even having slept late, the annoyance of the previous night's failure still hung heavy on him. He knew going back in was careless but, worse, it was unproductive.

Now he had who knows how many people wanting information from him, no coin to show for it, and the only lead a likely even harder target.

But, still, a ronin who isn't working is a ronin who isn't surviving and there were other ways to gather information. They weren't flashy ways and the results could be spotty but at least it was something. Thankfully he was in luck and a few loud folks with loose lips, and the right 'innocent' questions, provided at least something of some value.
