[Day 9, ME] Double That Date

[Susumu Yakumo]

"Ahh... I had wondered if it was something like a secret Kuni-messenger service that alerted you guys to eachother's presence on a planet," Yakumo said with a laugh and brought her drink up for another sip. "But, mm, that doesn't surprise me. She's a good person, and she seems to like you two a lot. I think you're the only ones she's talked about as friends, at least to me?"

Eriko laughed at that idea. "I can most certainly say that when I was a Kuni, when Kuni run into another Kuni, it's always an unexpected and unplanned surprise. We're hardly anything like the Scorpion in that regard but we just find a way to coincidentally be in the same place at the same time. Seeing as my Hide here is schmoozing it up with others attending Winter Court, it doesn't surprise me that Koyuki-san and Hide would bump into each other eventually and through some associate me. That's very nice to hear that she seems to think of us so fondly."

It did seem a bit peculiar that she would regard them so fondly, especially only knowing them for a few days. A part of her did wonder if there were another reason, much like how they were called to drinks today...

She took a moment to snack on some crispy tofu before asking, "So. I've got to ask. How did you and Koyuki-san meet, anywho?"

It was going to be super awkward if this turned out to be less of a thing and more of an extended taint watch.

"Ah, well... we ran into one another at the festival over a week ago. The one where the Scorpion were honoring their ancestors." She idly wondered if Koyuki had told them at some point, as she was bringing back the memories. It already felt like long ago now. "Random meeting, as we kind of ended up caught together in the crowd. I helped her then bring a plush-toy someone had lost to a Lost-and-Found."

Nah, Koyuki probably hadn't told them. That Kuni was more tight-lipped than a monk who had taken a vow of silence. "Turned out she hadn't really heard of me before, so we agreed to meet again later in better circumstances. I'll admit it's the first time I've had such a... ah, hm, friendly meeting with a Kuni? Personal meeting, I mean. I've met Kuni when visiting the worlds of the Crab who were perfectly polite." As polite as Crab could be.

"Hah, I think I'm getting the gist of why Yakumo-sama had a few questions for me when we first met," she chuckled on that note. "That's awfully kind of you to offer to educate Koyuki-san on your fame as a celebrity. I'd imagine that many celebrities would have been glad to move on with their lives after a meeting like that. I could only imagine that Koyuki-san must at least have a charm about her. If we're all guests here for the long haul of winter court, it only seems fair that we get to know each other better."

Well, there was also the Spider thing. She was pretty sure that most Spider would have avoided meeting a Crab a second time if there wasn't something at least captivating about them. Not just Spider, some people were content to just run away from the Kuni and never look back.
