(D12, LM) Dreaming of an Uncloudy Day

Shigeru turned to look at the boat they are in. "This is just pretend for those who want us to show them our true worth."

Well it wasn't like Hato had all that to begin with.

She followed his gaze upon the boat.

"An interesting viewpoint, Mirusmoto-san. This one's first assumption upon seeing the embassy that it was a security measure. Thefts and assassination are harder to plan against a moving target than a stationary one." she admitted.

It hadn't stopped her from planning a theft, of course.

"Perhaps there is a token gesture towards inaccessibility here. It's not like the bygone days of legend where the Dragon's mountains cut themselves off from the entire Empire unless the Dragon themselves allowed a visitor. If you had a mountain here, it wouldn't stop people from getting there in a helicopter." she offered.

"This one thinks there might be a statement here about the Dragon's relationship with this world. The embassy floats upon it's water, but it is not a part of the land crafted by the Scorpion. But this one is left to wonder by the Dragon have an embassy on this world at all. They have no industry here, nor any love of the Scorpion lifestyle. If the Dragon truly wished to be remote, their own worlds are much more remote than a boat."

She looked curiously at him.

The Dragon is here to keep their ties with the Scorpion yet keep the distance for the right hand should not know what the left one does." He looked at his hands. "As I said appearances to be kept up. Hato wondered if there was an instructional manual to understand the spirit of the Dragon. She also thought the ambassador was more likely to eat his cat than forge alliances with the Scorpion.

"This one supposes then, that as long as this boat remains, there is hope that the two may come to better understand one another. This one is certainly grateful that the boat is here. While the Dragon diplomatic mission is unlikely to have 'adopt ronin' as part of it's mission, this one nevertheless finds oneself the beneficiary of such an arrangement."

"I guess that is what happens when there are forks in the path and we want to explore both." Seemed that he wasn't talking directly to Hato. Then again Hato knows that some Dragons are quirky like that as the ambassador talked to a cat. "A spiritual link to not be broken that simply."

Hato did pick up on the sudden disconnect, though she couldn't pinpoint the source of it. Perhaps the Dragon was talking to the spirits, his ancestors, the underpants gnomes he'd picked up going to a whorehouse too close to the desolation.....it really could be anything. But it didn't seem to be a conversation she was welcome to contribute to.

So she turned her attention back to the water as it lapped against the side of the boat.

It was like Yonaga said: The waves came from the ocean, the waves returned to the ocean, and only the ocean remains.

And all too soon, this wave was returning to the ocean.

She couldn't help but wonder what Yonaga would think of that. Hopefully, she had found her future rather than simply being returned to the wheel.

After all, Hato had found hers.
