[Day 4 LA] Trickle Down Economics (Expecting/Closed)

She tosses over another cold can, this one labelled 'Pincer Extra Hard' with a bulky looking scorpion across the label.

"It can be fun to be chased."
Rubbing her own shoulder
"Sometimes. But you're young, so enjoy it. Enjoy the freedom of being seen as a lovable real catch who's just that little bit faster than all the hunters. Reminds me of a girl I used to know."

Putting her feet up
"Hobbies? Karaoke, the club, oshidama. Anything with people, excitement and a...low entry fee. If eating counts as a hobby then that too, but without the low entry fee."

Curious "And what occupies your free time? Is it all going fast while being bold, strong and sensitive?"

"I like speed, yes. It makes me feel free." She opens the second can and drinks. "In my free time, I like roaming around the city, meeting new people, chatting, dancing, partying. But also going to the beach, taking the view of the city in from the rooftops of tall buildings." She looks around her and chuckles. "Drinking beers with strangers is a personal favorite. I hate it being stuck in a place, even if it is my apartment."

She looks at the woman across her. "May I ask... No, I may not." She answers herself. "But if you find yourself wounded during... the mission, you know, text me. It won't be easy, but I might be able to help. I know people who know people."

"I admire you Bayushi-sama. Living your life sounds fascinating. Will you be heading off world at some point? Nothing really goes faster than a starship."

Quirking an eyebrow at the offer.
"That is very kind of you to offer, but I would prefer not do do anything which could link my work back to you. I know a few samurai willing to help me out if needed." her smile is slightly strained.
"The last thing you want is some scandal besmirching your reputation. They do happen and the effects can be...dramatic."

"They will probably just say that you are my latest girlfriend. Don't worry. It won't last more than a week." She says with a wink.

"I've been off world for races, yes. Starships are cool, indeed. Not as cool as bikes, but cool enough. I have been learning the basics of piloting for that matter. Have you ever travelled in other worlds, Yurei san?"

With a small smile
"It sounds like your girlfriends live dangerous lives, but I'm sure I could survive a week of speculation."

The smile fading somewhat.
"I've never had that opportunity, but I hope that one day I'll see the empire. I'll go from the roughest frontier worlds all the way to Rokugan itself."
A self-conscious shrug
"It's a nice dream, isn't it? Maybe I'd pass a ship you were piloting."

[Bayushi Senshuken]

"Oh, yes! We should have a date at the cockpit!" The Bayushi exclaims and takes another sip from her beer. She raises and then sits back down as she fights away the rush to leave. "I really need to slow down sometimes and stop leaving abruptly just because the punchline was delivered." She comments. "If you are interesting in leaving from the planet, perhaps we could arrange it. What about Palestar? Or Red Dragon, perhaps? Think about it, Yurei san. It might worth a small proportion of your fees."

"Oh, yes! We should have a date at the cockpit!" The Bayushi exclaims and takes another sip from her beer. She raises and then sits back down as she fights away the rush to leave. "I really need to slow down sometimes and stop leaving abruptly just because the punchline was delivered." She comments. "If you are interesting in leaving from the planet, perhaps we could arrange it. What about Palestar? Or Red Dragon, perhaps? Think about it, Yurei san. It might worth a small proportion of your fees."

"I would have applauded your timing if you had delivered your line and then leapt off the building with grace. Maybe next time, neh?"
Snorting quietly, half tempted to open a beer of her own.

"It's an interesting proposal, and it would tempt most ronin, maybe even me as well. But I am attending to some unfinished business first. Once that's done."
Spreading her arms
"Who's to say? Nice try though, you're sharp."

Rocking backwards and forwards slowly on her chair.
"Do you mind if I ask you a question in return? There is, of course, no obligation to respond, but I would appreciate your indulgence in a hypothetical."
Looking off at the slums.

"What would you do if one day it was all taken away? The status, the wealth, even your family name? Would you seek revenge? Leave the planet? Remake yourself? Or say you were the same person as before, merely wronged?"

[Bayushi Senshuken]

A few moments pass in silence. "I don't believe in revenge." The Bayushi finally answers. "It is a time consuming endeavor that I highly doubt that it is rewarding in the end. I would probably try to start over, make a new life, find what makes me happy in this new life and stick to that. And of course, save some koku for a new bike." She chuckles and looks towards the direction the other woman is looking.

"I don't wish to pry and ask you who might have wronged you and lead you into the life of a ronin, but if you wish to discuss the matter," she shrugs, "well, I am here and you have enough beers to entertain a Crab so they will be more than enough."

[Yūrei]

"Hmmmm."
There's a few moments of silence with the quiet sound of the rain pattering ahead.
"Thank you for your answer, you're more forgiving than I had expected, Bayushi-sama. As you say though, maybe that's a good thing."

She meets Senshuken's gaze for a few moments and shrugs lightly.
"Maybe nobody wronged me and I deserved it? Maybe I was born a ronin and this is my karma for an impure past life? I fear it would take too many beers to get to the bottom of it. And it helps to cultivate an aura of mystery rather than announcing you got caught embezzling or something."

On second thought, she will have one of those beers as she reaches into the cooler and grabs one for herself.

"Have you dealt with many ronin? You seem, and please forgive me if I overstep myself, quite young."

[Bayushi Senshuken]

Senshuken chuckles and takes off her mask. "Oh, look at me. I am past my gempuku and a proud owener of a perfectly legal driver's liscence. Or so the Scorpion have everyone believe." She winks and places her mask on her face again.

She takes another sip from her beer and continues. "I find the slums to have an attraction of their own so I visit the place rather often. I cannot claim to really really know any ronin, but I have met and spoke to quite a few of you in my life." She looks at Yurei and smirks. "I'm 17, by the way.'

Waving her hand
"I'm not old though, definitely. Mid 20s is still young, right?" Clearly the preferred answer is yes.

"You're brave to come to the slums for fun. Even a Scorpion has to be careful around here. What do you make of us ronin?"

"A lot of us are scum."

"A perfectly fine age." She comments with a grin. "Both young and experienced."

"I have come to understand that people can be scums no matter their positions and the mons they carry, but don't tell anyone that I said that. I will deny it with all my heart." She winks and continues. "Ronin are who they have to be in order to live their life. That's what we all do."

"A perfectly fine age." She comments with a grin. "Both young and experienced."

Winking back at Senshuken she mimes locking her lips and throwing away the after the positions comment.

"And open-minded, I appreciate it. I can see why they'd send you to deal with us wave people."

She yawns and stretches before casually:
"I'll take the job."

"Great!" She empties the second can of beer and places next to the previous one.

"Now you only have to give me feedback for the perfect punchline so that I can depart with style." Another smirk. "I have to maintain my coolness." And a wink.

Rubbing her chin
"Okay, how about. 'I love my motorbike, but don't think you can take me for a ride'? Or maybe 'The only thing I want faster than me on the road is you on this job'?"
Sitting up, finger up.
"Oh, oh, or maybe 'Now you know what I'm driving at'?"

The Bayushi chuckles and raises. "Not bad, but hear me out."

She clears her throat. "I am and will be in the driving seat, but what really drives me up the wall is the impossibility behind the dream of you and me with a bike between our legs, your usb stick on me and the endless road in front of us."

She thinks for a moment. "Ok. Admittedly I could do better. I'll give you this round." One last wink and a short bow follow.

"We'll be in touch, Yurei san." And with that she heads down the stairs where she came from.
