Heylo.

I find myself under a different impression than most, and due to my belief in the validity of it I thought I would ask! My impression is such that when a Clan Samurai hires a Ronin before a Heist, and thus is funding said Heist, that the exchange of the information does not proc a roll via the Scorpion monitors.

As there is technically no "sale" taking place.

However, others I have spoken with have the impression that there is always a roll at the exchange!

And, as I am not entirely sure where I gathered this impression from. I figured it best that I ask which is correct. Thank you for your time.

Ronin arrives, after doing something bad-bad. With ALL the Scorpion being uneasy about well, bad-bad happening around. Walls have ears. Windows have eyes. Your densai is making calls to Rekishi, just so that Scorpion can charge you more.

Then Ronin hands you what they scrounged, one way or another.

This triggers the roll.

A character may attempt to forge such papers by rolling Forgery (Documents) / Agility against TN of 35. Should a character have access to the genuine article, this TN is reduced to 25. Alternatively, the character may attempt to sneak in by rolling Stealth (Sneaking) / Agility against the Notice / Perception of the guards. Needless to say, the guards have a selection of electronic and spiritual devices available to them, granting them considerable bonuses for such rolls.

Can a copy of a pass to the undercity (for the purpose of reducing the TN of a forgery check) be found by asking around the slums, and if so, are there any raises required to obtain one?

After each session each character gains 3 experience points (xp). A ronin character that performed at least a single heist during a session and survived (alive) gains an additional point of experience regardless of whether they succeeded or not.

Since the former is the more recent I assume we're going with that? Just want to make sure.

Also is there an Advantage tax after character creation? And if so is it +2XP, Doubling the cost, or something else entirely. (Apologies if this one is listed somewhere - I tried to look for it in obvious spots and didn't see it)

No, I just forget my own rules. Survival is enough. And yes. +2 tax.
