"It's probably worth mentioning that most of the ronin who call themselves Devout...aren't exactly close. It's a place to sleep, a place to pass on tips and tricks, but most wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire. Also, most aren't ex-Spider. I certainly am not, and it really is a motley crew."

"This one is uncertain if the old wolf is a member of the Devout or not. This one thought that there was a chance the old wolf received his eye working for them, rather than being a Spider that lost his way. Given the stories one heres about the Spider clan, this one struggles to envision a Spider cast to the waves. "

A rough smile appears on Okuri's face. "You might be surprised who gets tossed to the waves."

"How do you mean, Okuri-san?" she asked, genuinely curious about the beauty her fellow wolf saw.

"This..." He looks over the garden. "Normally, it would be full and crowded. No one is here...because they have abandoned it. The samurai of wealth have poured fortunes into this world, only to just leave parts of it. I could never have walked these places alone, were I in the standing of a Clan."

Okuri looks over at Hato. "And I could not spend it with you. Not without scandal. Now I am a scandal."

"Ah, this one understands. The samurai of wealth have so much that they discard that which is still of value, whether it is a person, place, or a moment of time granted to them by the Heavens. Copper coins tossed into the waves to make place for gold, the coins still shining their brightest as they sink beneath the depths unseen by all but the fish." she mused.

"Okuri-san has the truth of the matter. Had he not followed the turns in his path, had this one kept walking the way they were told to, we would have never met. This one would dare not presume that this meeting was worth all of the ill that Okuri-san has suffered....but this one does take a bit of selfish joy in this meeting of the waves, no matter how brief or fleeting it is." she added.
