[D2LE] Out the Window

[Usagi Rei]

Rei shrugged. "It was entirely coincidence. I nearly bumped into her at the festival. After that, we hit it off." He shrugged. "Not unlike our meeting, actually, although with a lot less eating."

He flashed the ronin a quick grin. "And I'm not sure. She may have figured it out when we met at the club and I, well, didn't dance. Well. I suppose maybe I'll have to see if you can show me some moves, eh? I seem to recall us saying something about that."

[Yūrei]

"It will be my great pleasure to teach you how to groove to Yakumo-sama's works."
Apologetically
"I'm a bit of a fan of hers. She's got everything. I'd always annoy Sakura-chan by playing her stuff from the radio."

This time it's her turn to peer out the window, deep in thought. Rei was right, this was very contemplative.
"Maybe I'll run into her one day, get her to sign something."
A small smile, more like a grimace.

"I had to find some new heroes a while back, so I picked someone glamorous and far away. I don't even care for the Spider but...well maybe that makes it all the more exotic."

[Usagi Rei]

"Oh." Rei said, looking at her. "Well, she's..." Rei considered a few moments. "Complicated. But then, aren't we all?"

He watched her as she looked out the window. Perhaps the festival was a strange time for her, with the names of Scorpion heroes shouted all around.

"I could probably arrange a meeting?" He offered, smiling. In truth, he wasn't sure how Yakumo would feel about that. But Rei was willing to take a chance.

[Yūrei]

"Oh." Rei said, looking at her. "Well, she's..." Rei considered a few moments. "Complicated. But then, aren't we all?"

He watched her as she looked out the window. Perhaps the festival was a strange time for her, with the names of Scorpion heroes shouted all around.

"I could probably arrange a meeting?" He offered, smiling. In truth, he wasn't sure how Yakumo would feel about that. But Rei was willing to take a chance.

Yūrei arches an eyebrow, still staring out, watching the crowds move back and forth

"Complicated...uh huh. Well, I guess she could be a real prima donna off stage. Probably be stranger if she wasn't."
Still....
"I wouldn't want to put you out, so if that would be a big deal there's no need. But, you know, if she was around."
Finally sighing slightly and looking back at him.
"That would actually be really awesome. I promise, I'll just play the part of the devoted fan, keep it cool."

Rei shook his head, although it wasn't entirely what he was denying.

But then he smiled. "Sure. I'll see what I can do." He shrugged. "Although I don't want to overstate anything. It's just something that might happen."

Rei's smile slowly faded. "It is a lovely view isn't it..." He nodded out the window. "... zeni for your thoughts?"

"Right, just a maybe, no pressure."
She gives him a 'but....' expression before following his nod to the window.

"I was thinking this is actually a good spot for brooding. You get a good drink and then can pose statuesque by the glass."
Exhaling softly through her nose.
"Of course, when I stop moving and start thinking I start going back over things. People down there, they're so happy to be the descendant of Bayushi so and so who definitely did not kill three people with a pencil. Or they're hearing about the marvellous kindness of Shosuro Doctor number 12."
Another sigh.

"You've probably got ancestors you look up to, maybe ones you even wanted to emulate? It's...different not having that. Reminds me I've just got myself."

"That is one of my better moves." Rei deadpanned. But he listened, his expression interested.

"I... do." Rei said, nodding. "The Hare of old were like action heroes, it seemed like. Solving crimes, tracking down villains... jumpkicks..." He chuckled, shaking his head. "I don't do those, either. But some of the other stuff... I don't know if the stuff I do here counts." A quick frown flashed across his handsome features.

"But if you're melancholy, I'll have to cheer you up." Rei's smile was back. "I saw you look happy a minute ago. Why don't you tell me about that?"

[Yūrei]

"That is one of my better moves." Rei deadpanned. But he listened, his expression interested.

"I... do." Rei said, nodding. "The Hare of old were like action heroes, it seemed like. Solving crimes, tracking down villains... jumpkicks..." He chuckled, shaking his head. "I don't do those, either. But some of the other stuff... I don't know if the stuff I do here counts." A quick frown flashed across his handsome features.

"But if you're melancholy, I'll have to cheer you up." Rei's smile was back. "I saw you look happy a minute ago. Why don't you tell me about that?"

"You can still do some of that, just make sure you're wearing something loose when you jumpkick a villain off a skyscraper or something. There's an action hero in all of us. And hey, you can change, right? To be more like them."

Blinking once.
"Oh, that? I went for a run with Sakura this morning, ate some ice cream, got the gossip. Was just thinking how nice it was to see her again. Just hanging out with a friend, being myself...getting sugary food."
Shrugging slightly
"It made me happy, maybe I'm just a simple girl."

His smile returned and then some as she spoke. "That sounds great, actually. It's good that the two of you are still friends." Smile turned to smirk. "Although I find myself curious about what you talked about."

He shook his head. "I also wonder if instead of taking you here... there's a noodle stand and a dango stand right next to each other about two blocks from where I live. Maybe that would have been the better move, eh?"

Rei's smile faded, just a little. "Maybe." He said. "Sometimes that's easier said than done." He wasn't talking about the jumpkicking.

His smile returned and then some as she spoke. "That sounds great, actually. It's good that the two of you are still friends." Smile turned to smirk. "Although I find myself curious about what you talked about."

“Oh, I little of this. A little of that. Mentioned I had a date. Always important to get people’s takes on things. We confirmed your good looks so now it’s objective.”

Smiling a bit more broadly

“The better move because it’s got noodles and dango, or because it’s two blocks from your place?”

Rei shrugged, smiling affably. He was aware of the effect he had.

Smiling, Rei tapped the rim of his glass with one finger. "Well... perhaps I should just say that fortune favors the prepared." He tilted his head forward, giving her a look. "Although given how fast traffic moves in this city, preparation is almost redundant. I expect we're less than half an hour from anywhere we might want to be. My place included."

Another slow sip of his drink.

"Now that's a thought. What's your place like? Cozy little hideaway or dark penthouse loft full of windows and expensive art?"

Teeth flashed as he grinned at her. "I don't know, Yūrei-san. You're just going to have to find out."

This time, he polished off the rest of his drink with one gulp. "Well. Shall I pay our tab? Noodles and dango await. If you want them." He set down his glass, eyes on hers.

She knocks back her glass in a matching motion, although maybe a touch less smoothly as the liqour burns its way down.

"I think I do, actually. It's still early, plenty of mischief to get up to before the night is over."

Having had enough time to recover from the earlier drinking (the drinks he had since then were nothing to him!) Rei was able to rise to his feet with a certain amount of panache. A few coins were set down on the table.

Rei turned to Yūrei, flashing her a smile. "Well then. Shall we?"
