Dai notices eerie clicking sounds, and something moving in the distance even before they start the car.

Something he's seen before.

Something they definitely don't want to deal with now.

The others see it just as Yesugen makes the first turn. It's there, just in front of you all



Thankfully, Dai knew to warn Yesugen to keep well away from it. It eventually noticed the car and started making its way towards you all, but with Dai's knowledge of the lay of the land, his previous mapping of a good route, and Yesugen's skillful driving, you quickly reach the checkpoint.

The wardens aren't sure why you seem to be in such a rush, but they don't ask questions, with all of you having permits - one of them Permanent.

You've survived this dive. You have the Rainbow Olm sample, as well as some other ones. Kioku will be happy, and you have a good story to tell.

"Not again... drive! Drive!"

Dai barely breathes until they're safely through the checkpoint and even then instinctively keeps listening for that clicking sound.

"A Gakimushi! Wow, they're even bigger in person" Sumiko was very glad to be driving away from it at great speed. She was scared enough as it was.

Dai randomly grabbed a Glimmerstone!
Utaku Yesugen took a Glimmerstone she found on the ground.

Utaku Yesugen took a Benikage Jellyfish sample. It seems to be cursed!

Utaku Yesugen, Susumu Sumiko and Hotaru Sakura took a Deepblack Silk sample each. They seem to be cursed!

Susumu Sumiko and Dai (randomly in his case!) grabbed an Oborozuki Dragon Newt sample each. They seem to be cursed!

You all took a Rainbow Olm sample. It seems to be cursed!

REWARDS

• Assuming you take the Rainbow Olm back to Soshi Kioku (hopefully saying the sample may be cursed... she may have an idea of what to know), you all gain Soshi Kioku (Influence 1, Status 2) as a Devotion 1 Ally.
• All those that were on site gain 4 Information for what you found on site, the samples you managed to salvage and your firsthand experience in the lab. This is in addition to what Sakura shared and other information gains you may have received during the mission. You should all know what those are, let me know if there are questions!
• Kioku will offer Dai 5 koku for his troubles, as she knows Ronin need currency to keep them going. You can choose to decline the offer if you want to.

At some point after they're safe Dai approaches Yesugen and, confirming what she found was a glimmerstone, informs her of what he learned earlier that afternoon. That the stones contain trapped souls, or fragments of souls, of those who died in the blast. He isn't yet sure if there is a way to release them but is hoping to find out. He will let her know they can also sell quite well on the black market but he really hopes she won't take that option once she knows what it contains.

For her part, Yesugen opted to confer with the Unicorn Embassy in regards to almost all of her gathered objects. While she did not outwardly state that she distrusted a ronin's words, perhaps he gleamed it from her behavior. She was, after all, not a trained diplomat. Indeed, perhaps her fellow Unicorn would possess the answers as to how to release any spirits. At the very least, she didn't intend on selling them for profit.

The only exception was the Rainbow Olm. As she had sworn to retrieve it for the Soshi, she sought to bypass any conflicts of interest by delivering it to her first.

[Kitsune Kiyoshi]

Kiyoshi had not taken anything other than information and the holorecording. Now that there was time, the information he and the others found initially would be shared with Sakura, to fill in any gaps in what she had shared with them. The holorecording would be given to Kioku. If her daughter's message had not been captured, he would relay it from memory.
