As the sun starts to set, however, a number of distress calls come from the Sanctuary. Terrified visitors running towards the exit give exasperated and confused descriptions of strange creatures heading towards the Aerie. Some of the descriptions would seem to suggest beasts having escaped from their enclosures - but others mention strange, freakish things about these creatures. Running through walls. Translucent bodies. Unnatural wails.
Those who heed the call for help and make their way to the Aerie easily find witnesses reporting what the target of the creatures is: the Spiny Drake Centre. There, they will find the main lobby wrecked, two adult Drakes hurt on the ground, screeching but alive, one of the glass enclosures shattered and empty, the other cracked but standing. Most of the side doors leading to training gardens and staff-only areas are closed and locked - yelps, cries and squeals coming from obviously distraught Spiny Drakes suggesting these areas are where the staff took all the creatures they could gather to protect them - and hopefully keep safe themselves. The door on the left at the end of the lobby lies open, leading through a corridor.
From inside, those in the lobby can hear twisted, beast-like howls, and the exasperated voice of a woman.
Rules for participation
Before posting your participation, note that there is an OOC Thread to organise characters' participation. It is recommended that you check there and organise with your fellow PCs to define who will join. Those participating in the thread are welcome to use it later to coordinate during the combat as well. This thread will be considered closed after four Characters have posted in it, confirming their participation.
It should be noted that this thread has potential to be fatal and participants face a considerable risk of death.
Your initial post should include:
- Your character’s reaction to the situation as they approach and/or enter the Spine Drake Centre.
- Your Initiative Roll
- Your unarmored TN to be Hit (as characters cannot normally run around the city in armour and you wouldn't have had time to arrange permission; you can have weapons with you, within reasonable limits, although you may have to explain things to magistrates later).
- A Lore: Theology or Lore: Spirit Realms roll as you try to make sense of the situation. This will be triggered IC when you first see what the beast-like howls come from, but I'll ask you to roll it in your first post to hasten things.
