Sumiko had remained at the sanctuary throughout the afternoon. There was some science happening! Invested in the project, she continued to work, getting quite far already.
D10 LA recreating Oborozuki Dragon Newt - Lore: Biology/Int (Sage). | 5k4 ⇒ 37 (TN: ?)

Kioku and Sumiko working together did hasten things somewhat, but recreating a species was bound to be a relatively slow process.
"Susumu-san... I had said on one of the first times we met that you'd make a fine researcher. Do you still have doubts about that?", she asks warmly.
OOC:
As said in the other thread:
Recreating the species with one sample will need sa cumulative chefk of Lore: Biology against TN 80, with each roll needing a time slot (in a thread or off-screen). Two or more characters can work on the project together, but instead of summing the characters' rolls, this will count as Cooperative roll (i.e. one character rolls; the sum of the others' skills is added to the total). Kioku will participate in the task.
If you do donate both samples, the total TN to be reached will be 60 instead.
If this cannot be done by the end of D11, either of you may use your End Game goal to recreate the species if you want to (possibly as part of something else involving the Sanctuary).
So Kioku's help adds her Lore: Biology (4) to the roll, for a total of 41/60 done!

"Hm?"
Sumiko paused in some writing to look at Kioku.
"You're the expect here so if you believe so then I can't argue it. I do think I would enjoy doing this long term though, there is something really exciting about this kind of work. Not just research in general, but well...I suppose this is kind of like bringing life right? Just without any ability to speak with the kami to do the rest of the job."

The Scorpion smiles. "In a way, I suppose. It's not
really creating life from nowhere - that's not something humans can, or should do, ne? But it... allows something that would be lost to be reborn." Looking straight at Sumiko. "Susumu-san said the Spider don't have a large Sanctuary movement, ne? Perhaps Susumu-san could work on starting something like that?"

Sumiko chuckled.
"You know, most clans would take this as an opportunity to secure a very young, talented and single samurai for themselves. Yet Soshi-sama wants me to set something up in Spider worlds instead. Hmm, maybe to stay in touch and trade notes? Is Soshi-sama interested in the wildlife of the universe?"

The Soshi gave her a friendly, almost childlike smile. "Indeed I am, Susumu-san! But also... if I thought I could get you to work with us here and join us? I wouldn't pass on that opportunity". She grins. "But since I'm not in a position to make that offer myself, I'd at least like to see that you get to do something that's within your interests - and make sure your talent does not go untapped." A nod and another friendly grin. "Of course, trading notes and collaborating would be very welcome."
