Way too many unknown variables here. But one thing that was certain: That this big monster was far too close of the civilians now.

Hopefully, it'll be intelligent enough to understand the concept of "focus on the thing that's shooting at you" but not enough to understand the one of "decoy".

"Run to him! Now!" Dai hopes his words will shock the cowering child into action as he swallows his fear, and every instinct he had ever possessed.

Charging past his allies Dai slides the last few feet with his momentum as his sidearm rises up point blank against the blob of supernatural hate and fires pouring radiant energy into the beast.

This was not him. What the hell was he doing. Why the hell was he risking his life like this. He wasn't some sort of hero... Was he?

Kanna's and Dai's shots both pierce the creature's deformed, but hardy "skin"; Kanna's leaves only a "flesh" wound, but the energy from Dai's gun sears deep into the horrifying otherwordly creature. The same ochre, fetid pus-like substance they'd seen before splatters into Dai's clothes, leaving ugly, putrid stains that would make most retch under normal circumstances.

But now? These were hardly normal circumstances.


The [very worried father, seeing that thing out of a nightmare come dangerously close to his children, walked with his arms wide open to put himself between the monster and the children.

"Mizuki! Daigoro! The corridor, quick!"

Just as he says this, Dai comes forward and shoots! This time, the

The two kids were clearly afraid, and while they nodded and started doing what their father said, they kept looking over their shoulders. They couldn't leave dad behind!


Daigoro starts making his way into the tunnel, slowly than his dad would like, but enough to be probably out of danger.


The girl, however, stops right when she enters the tunnel and points to the other side of the room as she sees the younger kid cowering under a table. "D..Dad!! We gotta help her!"


"Losssst? Peassssse? The poor beassssssts...", the snake hisses, still somewhat confused.
"There are animal spirits there... but they look sssssso odd! Ssssstill, maybe I could do ssssomething...?

With agile slithering, the snake leaves Kiyoshi behind to make its way towards said animals.

Now what ssssshould I do?... they sssseem awfully crossss. And they're attacking ssssomeone who sssseemsss nisssse... maybe a bite sssshall convinsssse them?, the snake ponders, although it's still too far to tesssst itsss theory.


Seeing Dai run to stand up to the nightmarish creature and encouraged by his words, the child on the right finally crawls back from under the table and stands up. The ma
with the other kids seemed awfully far and the monsters awfully close. But, still trembling, she gathers the courage to take a first careful step to try to reach him, moving towards Kanna

The snake moves 40 feet towards where the other spirits are chewing on Kioku and the desk with one of the samples.

Both her legs now bleeding considerably, Kioku grits her teeth, looks exasperated at the desks, then at the kid who just moved from under a table, then back at the desks.

"... why??", she exclaims through her teeth, frustration, anger and doubt burning together in her eyes.


Flickering lights

At that moment, something flickers above one of the desks. At first it looks as if it were just a trick of the light, the air waving about. But soon it becomes denser, and slowly takes up a shape suggestive of another child girl, translucent, rocking back and forth on a swing hanging from the ceiling.

"...mom?", the girl says, her voice very soft, like the wind on distant, dry branches.

Kioku's eyes widen, instantly. Her eyes shift from the desks to the girl's image. "...O..omoi-chan?", she asks, incredulous - and the memories that wash over her prompt her to leave hesitation behind. She sets out rushing towards the frightened girl just up, leaving beasts and desks behind, and places herself between the girl and the Abomination, although her eyes are set on the swinging girl some distance away.

"You'll be safe!", she yells to the girl, encouragingly.

The Hyaena growls at Kioku as she runs to protect the girl, but with the snake coming close it barks in frustration and turns its attention to the desk behind it, thrashing at it wildly. The desk quickly gives way, exposing samples ans documents on its drawers on the ground.


The Raven likewise bites into the desk he's perched in again, this time boring a hole in it as well and exposing whatever is stored there to the creature.

Kiyoshi quickly called on the water spirits again, asking then to infuse Dai with good fortune as they had the Lion. Once that was completed, he moved towards Kioku.

For the next 4 rounds, Dai may immediately re-roll any one roll per round. This must be done immediately after the first roll is completed, and he may keep either result.

The atrocious creature, its damaged lumpy skin oozing its putrid viscous vital fluids, has its multiple eyes divided between Kioku, the children behind it (assuming the side with more toothed tentacles and encrusted skull fragments was the front), Kanna... and Dai, who after his shot had drawn most of its attention - and anger.

"ꃅꀎr҉T҉s҉!!! y҉O҉U҉'l҉l҉ B҉e҉ ꂦꀎꋪꌗ t҉O҉o҉!!!", it voice of forgotten death and furious savagery reverberates through the room even louder than before.

Its amorphous mass slides to stand close to Kanna, Kiyoshi and Dai, somewhat blocking the latter in the corridor, and soon another of its horrid pseudopods lined with teeth, bones and muscles from a variety of beasts extends and slithers around Dai. Despite the Ronin's reckless assault, the tentacles get stuck into parts of destroyed wood from the tables the creature had just oozed along, and with some fast feet movement Dai evades the excessively toothed appendage.

The large hideous creature is blocking the corridor partially. Moving through its space (which is needed to move from the corridor to the room) counts as Difficult terrain (Water - 2 for movement, to a minimum of 1) and needs an Athletics/ Strength or Agility check at TN 13. If you fail, you fall prone in a space within the Abomination's space!

Dai grits his teeth and shakes his head, "No, I'll have no regrets."

The ronin stands his ground despite his heart beating in his ears. His sidearm already flush with the beast he pushes the nose of the pistol further into the hole he had already blasted before pulling the trigger again. The bright, coruscating, radiant light tinted yellow by the flesh around it as it flares deep within the monster.

Kanna’s shot pierces the Hyaena spirit’s blueish fur again, and a stream of its blue and red blood flows from its side. The spirit creature lets out a deep howl of pain and rage as it looks at the Lion, the anger at its oblivion seething in its eyes as it slowly dissipates.

The abomination is likewise pierced deep again, more of its foul fluids flowing out, splattering on Dai and Kiyoshi. The combined barking of rabid dogs, screeching of birds of prey, growling of creatures unspeakable and a deep voice lets out something that sounds more or less like “No!!!”, its teeth, appendages and pieces of bone jittering and suddenly extending around the creature, biting at everything it finds in its way as if somehow its neverending hunger for life was now combined with fear and more avid for it. Its teeth find their way to Dai, but Kiyoshi manages to step aside!


The father, seeing this and encouraged by his daughter, starts moving around the nightmare in front of him to reach the other, younger kid, but he turns to his daughter as he does so. “Mizuki, go! I’ll join you soon!”


The girl looks at him worried. “Dad! Please be careful…”, she says, but finally turns and goes into the corridor to join her brother


The snake sees the Hyaena disappear, even more confused as it was before.
Whtssssh? Did ssssomeone help her? Sssssso… how do I help thissss one?, it ponders looking at the bird. The creature then slithers hastily to the bird's position and tries to coil itself around it... but wrapping its body around something small that flies is not that easy!


The other girl is still terribly frightened, but Kioku’s protection, Dai and Kanna’s brave stand and the father coming for her give her the courage to keep moving, slowly, around the terrifying creature.

Seeing the abominable creature let out a ring of teeth as it falls down, Kioku moves together with the young girl to protect her, although her eyes keep on the desk where her daughter is.

The Raven, having flown up to avoid the snake coming at it, glides to the desk the Hyaena had just destroyed and sticks its beak into the exposed drawers. A moment later, it raises its beak back triumphantly, holding the now colourful vial where Kioku had started to grow small Rainbow Olm efts.

The same grave-digging voice the abomination had left out be heard again, although the screeching element is somewhat stronger now.

"t҉H҉I҉s҉ i҉s҉ O҉b҉L҉i҉t҉E҉R҉a҉T҉E҉d҉ w҉i҉T҉H҉ u҉S҉!!

... the creature starts to crackle like an old TV, though, then slowly fades. As it does, the vial falls to the ground - apparently cracked, but not completely broken.


Some streams of blueish energy then fly from where the Raven stood to the abomination on the ground, first one, then many of its distorted skulls breathing it in. Slowly, but surely, the abomination raises again, all its eyes brimming with hate.


"ꌩꂦꀎ ꅏꀤ꒒꒒ ꍏ꒒꒒ ꌃꍟ ꁅꂦꈤꍟ!!!, its voice booms.

Kazumi feels a sense of relief as the abomination flails in its death throes starting to lower their Sidearm and let out a held breath.

Then the beast speaks again and the bird vanishes causing the monstrosity to rise again. On instinct and with sharp focus the Soshi's gun whips back up and fires at the monster.

The abomination wriggles, wails, flails its deformed appendages around and lets out another scream of hunger, desire and regrets, its suffering and rage felt in the air of the whole room.

More foul miasma leaks out from the numerous holes in its twisted skin, covering more and more of Dai and Kiyoshi's clothes, but it still stands!

The kafkaesque creature's eyes shift around, seeing Kiyoshi move away and reach the vial on the ground, the child protected by the ꅏꋪꍟ꓄ꉓꃅꍟꀸ ꀸꍟꌗꍟꋪ꓄ꍟꋪ who had abandoned their own five years before. And the spirit abandoned child now there, looking as if it was ready to forgive.

Most of its eyes then focus on one target only - Dai, still standing with his gun up in front of it. It lets out multiple appendages at once this time, teeth chittering as it tries to hug the Ronin in a deathly grasp. Once again, however, the hurt tendrils of madness are slower than the Ronin, and he remains free!

Apparently, Kanna has read the situation wrong: Dai hadn't planned of getting away from the monster, but on the contrary to embrace it even further. Going for point blank shots to bypass the creature's defenses? Ensuring his own survival by being so close to the beast it couldn't maneuver to hit him properly? Very Hida-like strategy in all cases. Possible ancestry?

Anyway, the creature was big, distracted and thus an open target.
