Kiyoshi and the Detective had returned to the House of Many Colors for lunch. They had had an interesting morning with Sakura at Kyuden Oborozuki and were planning to visit the sanctuary in the evening. A quiet, peaceful meal in the embassy was a nice break.

But, what to eat?

There was rice, of course, some fish, vegetables and a number of other options, but it was the Detective who made a suggestion. The monkey held up the persimmon to the Fox.

"Are you sure? It probably should be eaten while it's still ripe, but it's yours." The Kitsune waved the fruit away.

The Detective continued to hold it up, however.

"Alright. I'll cut it up. If you still want to share, I'll take a little."

Accepting the fruit, Kiyoshi set it down on a dish and sliced it in half.

As you slice the fruit in half, you'll find something quite odd. Where some of the seeds should be, there are 3 large coins, worth 1 koku each.

The persimmon smells rather good too.

"That is very strange, but considering the source..." He set the coins aside and offered half of the fruit to the Detective, keeping the other half for himself.

"Eat up. Hopefully it doesn't get us drunk again."

And, they ate.

It did taste... odd. But not bad odd. It was sweet, unlike the persimmon liqueur had been, and unexpectedly fresh. The taste was not alcoholic at all, but it have you and the Detective a sense of euphoria that lingered for a while even after you were done eating it.

After some minutes, the euphoria would be gone. But there was a strange sense that something was still odd. As much as it tried to shake off that feeling, it kept there, at a corner of your senses.

Suddenly, a golden scaled drake landed on the table, licking at the persimmon juices.

"Hey! Did you finish your mango, Goldwing,? Do you want more?"

Goldwing took to the air again, flitting about in anticipation. Both excited for more fruit and ready to play some more.

The Fox had thought that the drake might have finally been worn out. Since he and the Detective had returned from the studio, they'd been playing with the drake. She clearly had been upset about not going with them and Kiyoshi wanted to make it up to her. However, he had underestimated her energy.

She had finally seemed tired when they broke for lunch. But, it looked like the break was already over.

"Alright, alright. Let's play."
