[D11 EA] Wounds of the Wabbit

[Hotaru Sakura]

Sakura picked up her medkit, commuicator, and waltzed over to the Hare Attaché Office...aka the "walk in closet with the handsome man", as it was known.

She knocked on the door.

"It's Sakura."

[Usagi Rei]

There was a brief pause, and then the door slid open, revealing a handsome bookcase. Man. Whatever.

While he was wearing his formal slacks, he'd taken off his jacket, leaving him in his white office shirt. His side holster was visible, his sidearm strapped to his left side under his arm.

Rei smiled. "Hey, Sakura-san. Come on in." He stepped to the side, giving her enough space to step by him into the small room.

[Hotaru Sakura]

"Hello, Rei-sama." She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear as she stepped in.

"I got your message. All went ok last night?" She asked as she laid her kit down.

[Usagi Rei]

"More or less." Rei closed the door behind her. "It was a bit of a wild ride. Those True Scions were into some bad stuff."

Between his desk and chair, there wasn't a whole lot of room to move around in the little office. Still, they could manage not to bump into each other as they moved with a little effort.

He unstrapped his holster, setting his sidearm casually on the desk. "Few radiant burns." Rei explained. "One on the arm, one on the torso. Uh... should I sit on the chair, or..." He gestured uncertainly around the tiny room.

[Hotaru Sakura]

"Yeah, sure, just...stay as you are."

Sakura got out everything, but well...there was an incredibly handsome man in front of her, and while she didn't quite make things worse, she sure as hell didn't make it any better.

"Erm...I don't think it's supposed to stay that red, I guess I did something wrong...gomenasai."

[Usagi Rei]

Naturally, in order to let her tend to him, Rei had to take off his shirt. He had two large bandages on him, one on his left arm just below the shoulder, one on his ribs on the right side.

"Hrm." Rei grunted, rolling his shoulders a bit, the play of muscles on his bare chest visible. "It feels okay. I guess it's just a matter of giving it enough time."

Reaching out, he picked up his shirt. "Guess I should put this back on, huh?" He flashed Sakura a quick grin.

[Hotaru Sakura]

Sakura blushed. "If you feel like it. Your officer after all." She sighed. "Sorry, couldn't be more help, I guess. How are things going?"

[Usagi Rei]

Rei grinned at her. "I probably should." He pulled his shirt back on, a bit teasingly...

The question made him sigh. "They're going strangely. Very very strangely." Rei looked at her a moment, and then chuckled awkwardly, spreading his hands. "I barely know where to begin."

He pressed his lips together a moment, then smiled at Sakura. "Tell you what. Let's start with how things are going for you, and then we'll circle back to me."

[Hotaru Sakura]

Rei grinned at her. "I probably should." He pulled his shirt back on, a bit teasingly...

The question made him sigh. "They're going strangely. Very very strangely." Rei looked at her a moment, and then chuckled awkwardly, spreading his hands. "I barely know where to begin."

He pressed his lips together a moment, then smiled at Sakura. "Tell you what. Let's start with how things are going for you, and then we'll circle back to me."

"Oh, how clever." She chuckled. "Well...weirdly, I guess as well. Probably not that bad? Still getting used to Yurei-chan in..the new way, you know. Then Kuni-sama asked me to do some searches, then I got hopped up on the holo and I was looking into Nari-chan, and now she's gone-ish but not gone, and then I did some tailoring on the side using weird spidersilk and..." She frowned. "Was there anything else? Oh yeah, that investigation with Matsu-sama...how did that go, overall? Minus the getting shot at. Boy, do I not miss getting shot at."

[Usagi Rei]

"That is a lot." Rei murmured, smiling. He looked at her. "And I'm glad to hear that things with you and Yurei are doing well. What can I say? I ship it." Between Mariko and Yakumo, Rei had been doing a lot of reading about celebrities and fandoms lately, and had picked up some of the lingo.

"For the rest of it... huh." He shrugged. "Right, the thing with Matsu-san came to a satisfying conclusion. That is where I picked these up." Rei marked the spots under his shirt. "But the mission went well. Very off the books though, which is unfortunate, as it was definitely a good thing that we did."

[Hotaru Sakura]

"That is a lot." Rei murmured, smiling. He looked at her. "And I'm glad to hear that things with you and Yurei are doing well. What can I say? I ship it." Between Mariko and Yakumo, Rei had been doing a lot of reading about celebrities and fandoms lately, and had picked up some of the lingo.

"You ship it? How radical of you." She let out a small laugh. "Glad to hear..." She tentatively reached out to touch one of his wounds. "Just..keep easy and rest as much as you can, neh? So, besides shooting some ronin who deserved, what have you been up to?"

[Usagi Rei]

Rei smiled at her. "I will. I promise." His hand came up to gently rub across her shoulder, a familiar gesture.

He crossed his arms over his chest, letting out a slow breath. "Well..." He looked at Sakura, his eyes wide, biting his lip. For a minute, he didn't say anything. Then...

"I found her." He said, his voice a whisper.

[Hotaru Sakura]

Rei smiled at her. "I will. I promise." His hand came up to gently rub across her shoulder, a familiar gesture.

He crossed his arms over his chest, letting out a slow breath. "Well..." He looked at Sakura, his eyes wide, biting his lip. For a minute, he didn't say anything. Then...

"I found her." He said, his voice a whisper.

Sakura nodded seriously, then waited patiently.

"Her..." it took a while to register. "Your...wife?" She asked in a gentle tone. Despite his cool exterior, she knew that the Hare was an emotional, passionate man, and well...this must be upsetting.

[Usagi Rei]

Slowly, Rei nodded. "Yeah." He said, his voice rough. He closed his eyes for a few moments, his jaw set.

"Something's wrong with her." He said, his eyes opening. "She's lost most of her memories. Some of her personality, which I guess makes sense. She can remember that we were married, and some of the details, but..." He shook his head. "Not more than that."

[Hotaru Sakura]

Slowly, Rei nodded. "Yeah." He said, his voice rough. He closed his eyes for a few moments, his jaw set.

"Something's wrong with her." He said, his eyes opening. "She's lost most of her memories. Some of her personality, which I guess makes sense. She can remember that we were married, and some of the details, but..." He shook his head. "Not more than that."

Sakura extended a hand to his, gently holding it if allowed. "That's..." she was fumbling for words. This was really difficult. And really out of her element. "Would you like a hug?"

After a moment, Rei let her take his hand. The question made him look up, smiling gently.

"Yeah. Sure. That sounds nice." He said, shifting off the table and spreading his arms. "I've been getting hugged more often than usual lately. Mostly by attractive women. I can't complain."

[Hotaru Sakura]

Sakura poked him in the chest, and leaned in for a hug. "Say, was this the same attractive lady multiple times, or the usual assortment?" She smiled.

"I think Kuni-sama might have a thing for you."

[Usagi Rei]

Rei grinned. "Not that kind of hug, you. Well, not exclusively."

He blinked at her. "Kuni-sama... you mean Kuni Koyuki? No. No no no." Chuckling, Rei shook his head. "Definitely not. She's very much not interested in what I'm selling, as the saying goes."

[Hotaru Sakura]

Rei grinned. "Not that kind of hug, you. Well, not exclusively."

He blinked at her. "Kuni-sama... you mean Kuni Koyuki? No. No no no." Chuckling, Rei shook his head. "Definitely not. She's very much not interested in what I'm selling, as the saying goes."

"Ah, no? You were certainly on the same wavelength, it felt like." She smiled. "Well then, I guess I'll keep speculating." She gently poked him in the chest, in a non-wounded area. "I'll figure out one day!"

[Usagi Rei]

Rei grinned as she poked him. "I don't think you're gonna be able to guess this one." He teased. "Although maybe you won't have to. I had a talk with her a few nights ago, and we agreed to give it a try. So... we'll see." His smile grew.

Then it faded. "Of course, that was a few nights ago. I haven't seen her since then." Rei's lips pressed together. "I've been so busy with the investigation. And Yuria..." He sighed. "That's going to complicate things a lot."
