No idea how true this is in absolute as far as biology is concerned. More of your domain I believe? But the idea it's not in human nature to forget seems sound.

But even admitting it was humanly possible to forget? Well, there are a few legends about people asking the Fortunes to take away their memories and getting their wishes granted. They tend to always go the same way, with the amnesic unconsciously retracing the same path that previously lead them to the memory they wanted gone. Sometimes the recreation ends badly, often it grants them the closure they need.

Stories of old are advice from our ancestors, and I think the lesson is clear here: Seeking oblivion is a pointless quest."

The Soshi ponders on the Kitsu's words for a long time.
