[Otomo Koroshi]

Koroshi was adjusting his hat while waiting in the large downstairs lobby. He had exchanged the holographic beach vista shirt and pants for a bright yellow and black striped suit that resembled a horribly large yellow wasp. A cloak of sorts in pink and green sat on his shoulders, while a very large hat with the character gi for Justice in styrofoam on it. The comically large hat was held in place by a strap which Koroshi kept playing with because it itched to have it so tight. In between playing with the hat and looking at his densai, the Otomo was sipping on a tea selection which he did not recognize. Something local, very lightweight.

"I wish you a good evening.... Otomo-san" he said when he saw the man in the lobby.

"Ah, Miya-sama!" Koroshi exclaimed and rose to give the Miya a bow that made his hat almost fall off. Slightly shamed the Otomo took it off to give him a second more put together bow.

"Your wish is pure joy to my soul to know that you care for those beneath your station, and would wish them good blessings!" He combined the second bow with a huge smile that took up half of his face. "Please, can I get you anything? Sake? Tea? Snacks?"

"I'll have tea, thank you very much," Nishida replied, joining Koroshi. Gratefully, he dropped onto one of the sofas and let out a sigh. "This town is very spread out. But I think I did a good job today," he muttered to himself.

The food from Benikage was still heavy in his stomach.

"Tea!" Koroshi almost shouted and waved over an already lingering servant to get the Miya a cup of the same as himself. That taken care of the Otomo adjusted his own position to sit comfortably with the Miya diagonal to his chair.

"The sprawl is very real, Miya-sama. I could see it from the ship before we landed, a quarter of this planet is cityscape. I also have visited many locations today, the mall, a few temples, the gardens, the artificial islands. There is much to do and see if one is interested." Koroshi sounded interested but made sure that he wasn't crowding the Miya. He had been told not to do that.

"If Miya-sama would be willing to give this one orders, this humble servant would immediately seek to reduce any of Miya-sama's obstacles with the power of righteousness!" He put a fist in the air with such force it almost toppled him out of his seat, but he had naturally good balance.

Someone is very eager, he thought to himself and took the cup of tea in return and took a small sip.

"I visited the garden, the mall and the benikage today. There are definitely some luxurious places that show the splendor and prosperity of the Scorpion." he nodded, although there was also great poverty. The amount of ronin he ran into today was proof of that.

"I understand from your statement that you were also sent here as a delegation for the Winter Court, Otomo-san?"

Someone is very eager, he thought to himself and took the cup of tea in return and took a small sip.

"I visited the garden, the mall and the benikage today. There are definitely some luxurious places that show the splendor and prosperity of the Scorpion." he nodded, although there was also great poverty. The amount of ronin he ran into today was proof of that.

"I understand from your statement that you were also sent here as a delegation for the Winter Court, Otomo-san?"

"Hai!" Koroshi agreed with a quick chop of his hand. "I was ordered to arrive and provide my services as a courtier to the embassy. I am trained as an Isawa Elementalist, but my initial training in Toshi Ranbo was broad enough that I am certain I will not fail you, or the Empire, Miya-sama! I will devote every waking moment to my duty, I live to serve!"

He got down on his knees and bowed at the waist towards the Miya with his face on the ground. Not full kowtow but close.

"Hai!" Koroshi agreed with a quick chop of his hand. "I was ordered to arrive and provide my services as a courtier to the embassy. I am trained as an Isawa Elementalist, but my initial training in Toshi Ranbo was broad enough that I am certain I will not fail you, or the Empire, Miya-sama! I will devote every waking moment to my duty, I live to serve!"

"You honor the Empire with your service." replied Nishida to Koroshi's sudden bow, "But sit down again." he pointed with his hand to the sofa.

After taking another sip of tea, he continued. "I think we should introduce ourselves to each other properly once. My full name is Miya Nishida, once I went by the name Yasuki Nishida. I serve the Emperor in the service within the Imperial Revenue Agency."

He adjusted his glasses and made a gesture to Koroshi to pass the word to him.

"You honor the Empire with your service." replied Nishida to Koroshi's sudden bow, "But sit down again." he pointed with his hand to the sofa.

After taking another sip of tea, he continued. "I think we should introduce ourselves to each other properly once. My full name is Miya Nishida, once I went by the name Yasuki Nishida. I serve the Emperor in the service within the Imperial Revenue Agency."

He adjusted his glasses and made a gesture to Koroshi to pass the word to him.

"Miya-sama honors me by accepting it, sir!" He did as asked immediately. The Otomo played with a ring for a moment, it bore the seal of his family in black and green stones. What to say...

"I was born in the capital, my parents are Otomo Hajime and Otomo Karen, my full name is Otomo Koroshi, named for Seppun Koroshi my great-grandfather!" He made a sign towards the heavens to bless his ancestor and then continued. "I serve the Empire in the diplomatic corps, this is my first assignment since graduating. I am a shugenja, my favored element is fire, sir."

He put his hands together. "I can program, drive, pilot, perform rituals, quote Leadership and the Tao, serve tea, and if I have seen it been done, I can do most any dance."

"These are some extraordinary talents Otomo-san. I am envious, I have not seen Toshi Ranbo before. The Old Venerable Capital must be impressive." he replied, taking a sip of tea and continuing, "I am sure you will achieve great success in your first mission. We should see that we get as much information for the throne as possible. As long as the Lion and the Mantis are at war, we are in a good position, but the Dragon's insubordination worries me."

"These are some extraordinary talents Otomo-san. I am envious, I have not seen Toshi Ranbo before. The Old Venerable Capital must be impressive." he replied, taking a sip of tea and continuing, "I am sure you will achieve great success in your first mission. We should see that we get as much information for the throne as possible. As long as the Lion and the Mantis are at war, we are in a good position, but the Dragon's insubordination worries me."

"This one will immediately begin to investigate the Dragon's intentions! No secret will remain buried as I tear the veils of mystery apart and shine the light of truth upon the situation!" Koroshi promised while thinking of ways to harass the Dragon embassy staff into giving the cause of their dishonorable behavior. But first...

"But uh...Miya-sama, this one wishes to know what insubordination the Dragon have been engaged in. This one has recently heard of their conflict with the Unicorn regarding the Ide ship, but this was second hand from several Phoenix university buddies. It is not clear to this one whether the Throne has weighed in yet?" The Otomo was confused. "This humble one is, of course, willing to shakedown the Dragon upon the word of Miya-sama alone, but if this one had more understanding then this one would be of more use."

"This is more of an overall political issue. The dragon's approach to the Ide II and its exploration fleet is extremely stubborn, something that makes the dragons special but difficult to tame. To venture into the unknown without the Emperor's blessing is, in my opinion, highly questionable." he took a sip of his tea.

"Anyway, we have to concentrate on the here and now. Have you already exchanged ideas with the delegates of the other clans? Except for an old acquaintance from the crab clan and a lion reporter, I've only run into Ronin thus far."

"This one agrees with Miya-sama's wisdom. Honorable intentions require honorable deeds, and to obfuscate and stymie is not honorable. This one will work to make inroads into the clan." Koroshi answered deferentialy.

"As far as meetings, this one also ran into a Lion reporter! She was most honorable. And yes, a few ronin...a young woman who runs named Yūrei and a young woman who sings named Hato. Both were most agreeable and willing to humor me." Koroshi shrugged. "This one will be leaving for a party at a nightclub in an hour or so."

He gestured to his 'formal wear' and hat. "This one can seek to make conversation at that location? If it pleases Miya-sama."

"What a coincidence, I think you have also met Kitsu Kanna-san? I also met Yurei-san and Hato-san. For a city of this size, it is very fateful that we both met the same samurai."

He took a sip of tea and took out his densai.

"If you're going to party you should enjoy yourself, I'll give you my Densai number in case you need me."

He rummaged in his pockets before handing one to Nishida. "Please do not hesitate to request this one's assistance with any matter small or large."

"Tomorrow this one will seek other other samurai to speak to, and develop more understanding of the woven fate that stands before us."

"I will" he accepted the card and bowed slightly. "I wish you a good evening, Otomo-san. Let's see what fate has in store for us tommorow."

"And the same to you Miya-san!" Koroshi bowed in return and would wait for the Miya to leave before departing for his clubbing.
