[Otomo Koroshi]

Koroshi was pleased to be poking the glimmerstone that the Miya had presented him with, now that he wasn't worried about the Scorpion trying to silence him for knowledge man was not meant to know. He had decided to treat himself by wearing black tights and a white long sleeve pirate shirt. He had left the tricorn hat back home but he made do with a black tophat with tiny lights along the brim that flashed enough to give a Crane a seizure.

The Otomo had taken a conference room hostage for his meeting with the ronin Yūrei, and had covered the table with different tea bags for her selection. While he waited he put a little water in a kettle and sprinkled some extra on the table to see if they could be bribed into talking about the shiny rock.

[Yūrei]

It takes Yūrei the usual time to get up through security. Even after her past visits a ronin wasn't let in without suitable inspection and then escort. She wondered if it was a flash of concern she saw in the receptionists eyes when she stated who she was there to see.

Still, now she'd finally arrived and after half a second to process the table of teabags she bowed deeply
"Otomo-sama, blessings upon you."
And went about clearing them up, picking a strong Crane blend for the both of them when the kettle was ready.

"Your message said something about a rock?"

Koroshi was frozen over the rock in question with his eyes narrowed. It would be a bit before he relaxed and stood to bow to Yūrei.

"Uh...yes. The glimmerstone, which I have here." He did not want to touch it anymore but the water had gotten on it. The Otomo cleaned off the little bits of water with a napkin as carefully as he could.

"Glimmerstone is people. Literally the burned essence of someone's soul. This is not most excellent," he paused and then turned the kettle on. "Uh, I was hoping to ask you to collect more samples of this from the markets. I think we might want to do that away but for different reasons."

[Yūrei]

Yūrei pauses, hand over the kettle
"It's what now?"
She slowly turns to stare wide-eyed at the glittering mineral.

"That's-uh, quite not most excellent, Otomo-sama. Not most excellent at all. Does that mean the soul can never rejoin the wheel?"
the kettle makes a little 'bing' sound as it finishes, although the ronin doesn't seem to hear.

[Otomo Koroshi]

"I don't know..." Koroshi looked at it with utter disgust. "People have been selling this? Do you think the most excellent Soshi know what this is?"

He turned the kettle off absently and poured himself and Yūrei a cup of boiling tea before drinking it.

"Fuck!" The Otomo cursed after swallowing the tea and burning his mouth.

[Yūrei]

Like most ronin, Yūrei has a hard-wired inability to 'see' anything embarrassing a higher ranking samurai might do.
"Indeed Otomo-sama, this is extremely serious."
She gently takes the cup back from him and pointedly puts the cup on a coaster where it can cool.

"I don't know if the Clan is aware. If they are, why would they allow it to continue. But if not, why not?"

[Otomo Koroshi]

"This one will have to bring it to their attention immediately!" Koroshi thumped the table with feeling. "It is one thing to keep their barbaric grove, and another entirely to use the souls of samurai to power spells. That is a hop and skip from blasphemous practices that would require the attention of law enforcement."

[Yūrei]

She blows gently on her tea

"It's...unnerving to even think of and borders on...as you say."
She frowns slightly, pointedly sitting on the section of the couch farthest from the stone.

"But if I may, who you seek out and how you report it is very important. The Clan likes things to be dealt with in house. If you raise this issue, with the blazing fire of your righteous honour, to a suitably high ranking Scorpion samurai. And stress how not only is this...this, but that it reflects badly on the clan and may be spreading corruption. They might well deal with the issue more quickly and permanently than otherwise."
