"Have you ever been on diplomatic work, Utaku-san? Or always a pilot?, she asks somewhat sardonically. Was there a hint sort of jealousy in her voice? Or was that just an impression?

"There is often a lot to do. Paperwork. Talking to shitheads. Pretending you're pleased. Being in places you would rather not."

A humourless chuckle.

"Well... It's not always that bad. Sometimes you do find your way to a nice drink. Some dignitaries are nice. It's just not the same, you know?".

The pair seems to be making great progress on the research for the ritual to purify the Blacksilk sample sample... but when they try to touch the sample itself, both suddenly feel a pull, their fingers suddenly sticking to whatever they're holding at random times. Moving their hands felt odd, as if they were caught in a web of some sort.

Each of them sees (or maybe feels) a spirit right by their side.

Despite the spirits' interference, Pakpao seemed to be quite focused...

Utaku Yesugen and Iuchi Pakpao feel the sample (in their head?) interfering with their work! Reroll your last roll, taking the worst of the two rolls. (i.e. you're both affected as if you had Unlucky!)

"My stay so far has shown me that it diplomatic work is not for me." She looked to the ceiling. "I met with one of the Ide. It fits her much better, though I wonder if she misses her family."

Like in the laboratory, the ghosts might as well have not existed... well, other than the last ones which had definitely not actually scared the Utaku. Anyhow, she too was barely phased and completed her work up to her standards.

"Hah. That was a nasty one", the Iuchi says, looking at the sample with a deadpan expression. "Is that the sort of thing you saw at the lab?"

A sardonic grin. "Some vacation, eh?"

Once again, she looks at the sample when done. She'd probably have the same questions - what were Yesugen's plans, and so on. Instead, after keeping silent for a while, she asks with her eyes still on the sample. "Have you ever considered what you'd do if you weren't a pilot, Utaku-san?"

After a long while.

"Or... if you weren't a pilot anymore."
