Fancy Pants Drinks (Day 10 Mid Evening, Jun's Suite)

[Hotaru Jun]

Finding a venue for a party hadn't exactly been an easy thing, so at last Jun had just decided to rent out a suite at the fanciest Scorpion hotel in town. A stay of two nights set him back a pretty good chunk of Koku but money existed to spend it. Lookign over the common spce, he shifted around some of the furniture to make it possibly more inviting as he waited for his guests to arrive.

The star of the show was of course the gallon jug of Rocket Fuel, but he'd bought a few other more platable bottles as well, along with beer shochu and a few mixers. There was also a small array of snacks, because all drinking needed snacks to match, and if people wouldn't somethign more there was of course always room service.

The firefly was dressed fairly casually in a pair of pants and sleevless vest. no need to over do it after all. He had taken the time to comb his hair though and style it a bit. His kind of not really girlfriend was supposed to be coming after all.

[Ide Yamako]

Yamako entered, dressed casually but still her fancy self. Jewelry danged from her ears, perfume winded around her as she walked and her new boots felt amazing with these pants and billowy top. She held a bottle of good sake, figuring it never hurt to bring a useful gift. Clearly Jun had gone to some expense to make this party happen. She knocked on the door.

[Hotaru Tsuyo]

Tsuyo clumps up, dressed in her usual arty casual clothing of simple, but high quality fabrics. The grey silk vest she favors has a gentle drape to it, and her wide-legged trousers offer a vague sense of ancient hakama with a modern ease to them.

With all the booze on hand, Tsuyo's brought some food--a warm and savory-smelling box of buns dangles from one hand as her other leans on her elaborately-carved cane. Seeing the unknown woman at the door, she pauses to bow and rattle into an introduction. "Good, won't need to risk scrapin' the door ta knock with the cane. Assumin' I'm at the right door, that is. Hotaru Tsuyo, here for Hotaru Jun-san's bit of celebratin'."

[Yoritomo Seika]

"Oh, yeah, the artist, right?" Seika turns back to hold the door open, breaking what might otherwise have become (for Yamako, at least) an awkwardly long wordless gaze at Jun while she figured out what to say next. "We actually met for, like, half a minute at the House of Storms the other day. The party after the oshidama, with Sakura-san. It was pretty crowded, though," she adds to preemptively brush off any apology.

[Hotaru Tsuyo]

The artist nods. "Yeah, great party, but definitely a whirl of people. Think this's a bit smaller." She spots the collection of booze, and sets the buns up nearby. There's a sharp laugh as she recognizes, "rocket fuel!? I think you're tryin' to get us a reputation as poisonin' our guests, Jun-san." Nevertheless, she makes sure to secure a cup for a taste of home.

[Hotaru Jun]

The ladies wouldn't have to wait long as Jun came to open the door for them. "Evening." He said simple as he stood to the side to let the trio in. giving a brief look down the hall as they entered. He expected a few other faces tonight, but apparently they hadn't made it yet.

"Thanks for coming everyone."

[Hotaru Sakura]

Sakura arrived with a smile as well, dressed casually. "Oh, is that thebfamed Rocket Fuel?" She asked with a smile.

[Ide Yamako]

It seemed the doorway and room had filled with people quickly. She bowed and introduced herself to those she didn't know and gave a smile to Jun. "Thank you for inviting me." Seeing that he would be busy being the host, she moved to put the bottle she'd brought with the others and snag a glass.

[Asahina Hinata]

Fashionably late, (and totally not because the player read the PM and then promptly forgot about it . . . method acting . . . ) Hinata was next to arrive and probably last. He wore an off the shoulder top in white and blue swirls, leaving his entire right arm bare and a wide flared sleeve cuff to the left. His usual style of blue shorts and thigh highs accompanying it. Around his waist he had one of his bunny eared hoodies tied in a loose knot.

"Oh Hotaru-samaaaaa, sorry I'm lateeeeee!!!!!"

[Hotaru Tsuyo]

It's likely that several heads turned at Hinata's greeting. Tsuyo's glass lifts a bit before realizing she's not sure she knows the newcomer, another moment and she remembers the idol from the concert the other evening.

Slightly awkward after that almost-greeting-person-who-wasn't-talking-to-you moment, she offers the Unicorn a bow and reciprocates her introduction. "Pleased ta meet you, Ide-sama. Haven't run into too many Unicorn this season, Had a whole trade convoy through last summer though..." She pauses, awkwardly leans her cane against her leg with a softly metallic clink, and holds out her hand in a rather stiff fashion. "Sorry, I still don't quite have this right, do I?" she asks with a rueful grin.

[Yoritomo Seika]

"

"Thanks for coming everyone."

"Wouldn't miss it. Jun's glamorous salon... artists, diplomats, and the cream of society, right?" Seika says, smiling warmly. Setting her bag down on the table--it contains a bottle of rich brown sugarcane shochu, kind of an old man drink back home, but one she has a taste for--she notices, in the place of honor, the big gallon jug of something that surely can't be industrial cleaning solvent. If only because Tsuyo is drinking a cup of it and hasn't died yet.

"What's this?" She taps a fingernail against the neck of the bottle of Firefly Rocket Fuel, making the glass ring.

[Hotaru Jun]

The artist nods. "Yeah, great party, but definitely a whirl of people. Think this's a bit smaller." She spots the collection of booze, and sets the buns up nearby. There's a sharp laugh as she recognizes, "rocket fuel!? I think you're tryin' to get us a reputation as poisonin' our guests, Jun-san." Nevertheless, she makes sure to secure a cup for a taste of home.

"Ah, it's not that bad." He replied to Tsuyo, pausing to give a wave to Hinata in greeting. "Has everything in it to get you through a few months stretch of mining a space rock."

Seika got a smile as he turned towards the crowd. "Rocket fuel as Sakura-san said. Freshly made on the Akemiae just a few weeks ago." He gestured towards Hinata. "Asahina-sama seemed interested in giving it a try, and I figured Sakura-san hadn't had it. So I figured I'd give folks a chance to try it as well as just relax and have a good time."

[Yoritomo Seika]

"Is that what you call homebrewed hooch, when you make it out on your ships?" Seika's eyes sparkle with interest as she peers at the jar and its contents more closely. "How bad am I going to regret this tomorrow?"

[Hotaru Jun]

"Yeah." He replied with a nod before pausing mostly to consider lying about the second answer. He decided to go with the truth though

"Might be a lot." Jun replied with a wry smile as he started pouring glasses of Rocket Fuel for everyone who was interested.

[Asahina Hinata]

Now that they were not in public per se, Hinata rummaged in his bunny eared backpack until he pulled out his cat ear band with a triumphant look. He put them on and . . . nothing.

"Oh I need to turn them on first!"

Quickly removing them to flick the power toggle and then putting them back on. The ears wiggled happily immediately.

[Yoritomo Seika]

Seika grins when Jun promises Might be a lot. "Oh, well, then definitely count me in." And she claims the first glass poured.

"Is there, like, some kind of special ritual here? Shoot it? Sip it?" She brings the glass closer to her nose to sample the brew's bouquet and immediately coughs.

"Ahem. Oh, hey, nice ears, Asahina-san." She stops rubbing her nose to give Hinata a high sign.

[Hotaru Tsuyo]

Tsuyo grins over toward the small Mantis. "Just like makin' it, anythin' goes" She sips her own, feeling it burn its way down. "Oh-ho...someone tossed in a pack of old Hida ration crackers. I'd recognize that sharp bite anywhere." Nodding to Sakura, she adds, "Hotatu-sama gets some in with pretty much every Firefly that drops in...seems he misses it, stuck planetside all these years. You should insist on samplin' __for quality assurance__ for him."

[Hotaru Sakura]

Sakura smiled. "Don't mind if I do minnasama." She poured a small glass and....shot it back straight.

"Oh hey, doesn't feel too stron-" her voice cracked as the fuel hit her.

"Wow." was her only response as her face locked up.

[Asahina Hinata]

All the warning signs were missed, and his cat ears perked up with interest as he waited for his glass to be poured.

"So this is Rocket Fuel, Hotaru-samaaaaa?????"

Which Hotaru it was addressed to is left to the Hotaru to decide. Probably all of them.

[Yoritomo Seika]

Seika eyes Sakura as her new friend takes the plunge. It's... not as informative as she might have expected; she really can't tell whether Sakura's reaction means she's better off starting small or tossing it all back.

She shrugs and takes a large sip.

"Hnngmhmhmm..." Seika emits some muffled, slightly squeaky sounds. Roll it around your palate--Uncle Toi's directive for sampling his favorite 110-proof cask-aged shochu, the most challenging acquired taste in Seika's drinking experience to date--was maybe not such great advice here, actually.
