It's been a long time (Day 1, LM)

Hashi's morning has been quiet. Contemplative. And that contemplation now brings her to the middle of the Garden of Mists. The advanced illusions are no great bother for the Scorpion Courtier, who has now simply found a pagoda to watch the wildlife, real or otherwise.

Yamako wandered through the garden, amazed at the illusions around her. Her talents weren’t in magic or technology and so it was all a bit beyond her minus in appreciation.

However as she looked through her the mists, she saw a face that she hadn’t seen in some time. Could it be part of the illusions? Or was that…”Hashinako-San? Is that you?”

Hashi looks up as her name is called. Seeing a familiar face, she smiles ever so gently. A brief bow, and a motion of invitation.

"Yamako-san! It has been too long, has it not! I apologize, I had not heard you were coming. Please, come, sit down."

She walked over quickly, startled by a face she hadn’t planned to see again. Boeing, she then sits down. “Hashinako-San, pardon my rudeness in calling out. This garden is a wonder but I had a moment of wondering if you were an illusion. It feels like an age since I saw you last.”

"It is nothing to apologize for, Yamako-san," Hashi's face sets into a charming little smile. "It truly has been some time. I hope that the World of Dreams has treated you well during your stay. Will you be here long?"

She shakes her head. “Just a few weeks. Hoping to check on how things are here, make friends, mingle, the usual thing. Hopefully it will be less exciting than New Kalani.”

Her face sets into somber lines. “I am sorry that your time there ended so tragically. Your intended was a truly beautiful soul.”

"She was," Hashinako smiles sadly. "I do still miss her. But I have since resolved to not insult her memory by dwelling in the past. She inspired me to perform in the plays that I have always wanted to perform in. The break has been quite welcome," and then a rueful smile. "And I haven't had anyone try to kidnap me and take me to their obsession dungeon in damn near a year."

At the first words from Hashinako, her eyes became a little watery but no one who wasn’t as close as Hashi would notice. She is clearly happy for Hashinako-San and also moved.

At the last bit, she started. “That…has happened? Are you safe now? Is there a way I can help?”

Hashinako waves Yamako off. "It is a thing that used to be attempted," she assures. "Not something I still deal with. You would think after the third person I'd shot about it they would get the hint, but alas it took me escaping the public eye to avoid their attention for good."

Her eyes widened slightly. “Well if you are sure…I would not wish you to hesitate if something does occur.” She pauses.

“I…owe you a debt for your advice and help on New Kalani. I cannot articulate how much your wisdom meant to me in that complex time.”

"I assure you, Yamako-san, there is no need for concern. We are in my home planet, one I know better than near any other. If anything, I would ask that you rely on me if there is anything you need."

"And advice is not something that needs a debt owed. I am glad to be of assistance."

“You are too kind but that is not to be wondered at. It is part of your nature.”

She paused for a moment. “If I have anything concrete, I will assuredly let you know. I am mostly trying to get my bearings and learn what gossip there is to be found. Don’t want to launch into things without information.”

"There might be a joke about a scorpion and a frog to be made, but I do not feel clever enough at the moment to make it," she says with a little tease to her voice.

"I am of course glad to assist with learning the gossip, as much as does not create a conflict of interest at least."

She shakes her head at the tease. “You are too clever for me, clearly.” And then in response to the second bit, “Of course! I wouldn’t dream of putting you in a complex position. I have no liking for that sort of thing if avoidable.”

"If only more were as earnest as you," she says with a grin. "I think the Empire would be a much calmer place."

She chuckles. “Noburu says my ancestors should be grateful that I am a diplomat and not a bushi because I would spend too much time trying to work out disagreements between combatants.”

A brief smile flashes across her face. “It would be a lovely thing if things were calmer. I wish more exploration like the Ide 2 could happen and with less conflict.”

"It would be nice for more such expeditions, I agree. I'm still a bit sad that I could not join the Ide II on it's voyage."

“It would have been the trip of a lifetime, absolutely. But I am glad to see you here nonetheless. Will you be performing any time soon? I would love to be able to catch one of your performances.”
