Eriko hissed in pain when Gorou hit her on the shoulder and she quickly ducked down to make herself smaller as she ejected the clip. She quickly reloaded her gun and yelled back at Gorou from her hiding spot. "I got a shot with your name on it!"

That wasn't literally true, because she couldn't write his name on radiant shots.

Okay, taking shot after shot wasn't doing any good. It was time to focus. Rei took a deep breath, finding the calm within himself...

Rei took careful aim at the goon that was hiding in cover and present since the start of the fight. He waited patiently to draw a bead before firing him square in the chest and ruining his day entirely.

Yurei took a quick moment to reload her pistol and immediately jump back into the action to ping off a few shots at the woman's back. However, she narrowly missed her intended target. Just by a hair, almost.

[Kuni Koyuki]

With a radiant beam careening past her and off into the distance Koyuki simply continues her advance toward the technical. Moving with a little more care she holsters her sidearm into the belt strapped at her leg, and starts speaking another prayer. This one was to the kami of fire, and as she rose near the end of the incantation she held one out in a show almost as if she was holding a blade.

As the incantation progressed, embers slowly started to appear from the various lightsources around. Little motes of light that at first drifted slowly toward Koyuki but as they appeared in greater numbers they began to mass much faster and all raced toward her hand. In a matter of seconds they coalesced into a radiantly burning katana forged from flame. A bright spot amid the battle that gave off an orange glow where Koyuki stood.

[Matsu Hide]

Katana in hand, Hide knew it was now or never. She was fast, so rushing down Gorou was child's play. Hide stabs him right in the side, leaning in very close to him and spoke surprisingly quiet. "There'll be no next time."

Gorou

...Gorou had no clue what happened. One moment he was sitting comfortably in his faux leather-seated truck with the air conditioning cranked up, doing normal things like popping shots on a Kuni-turned-Matsu. Then suddenly, the next moment he was taking a vicious katana to the side of his gut and coughing up blood! What gives?

Gorou Voids! Still takes 36 Damage and is now at 46 Damage Total! Gorou is Down!

As the two Scions retreated, Rei briefly kept his rifle trained on them. After a moment, he shook his head, lowering it. The fight was over. He paused a moment to eject the mostly spent powerpack and insert a fresh one.

Then, stowing the his rifle over his shoulder, he scrambled down the ladder, jogging quickly over to Reki. Worry briefly tightened his jaw, but he saw that she still breathed.

"Kuni-san!" He called, waving a hand. "Need some healing over here!" He readied his rifle again, standing overwatch over the fallen Akodo.

[Akodo Reki]

Reki had managed to roll over and look up at the Usagi. She smiled slightly..."I...may...not...be...making...our....date...my...apologies." Her body tensed as a spasm of pain rocked her. The Lioness gripped her side weakly, a sad attempt to staunch the wound in her side. "...Naomi...is...waiting...I think."

[Usagi Rei]

"Hey, hey, none of that." Rei smiled down at her, but his eyes were large with concern. "She's patient. She can wait a little longer."

He knelt down, switching his rifle to one hand. Reaching out with his left, he took one of Reki's hands, giving it a firm squeeze. "Besides, you did promise. And Lion always keep their promises, so I'm expecting that beach trip, turret wounds or no."

[Akodo Reki]

"Just...trying...to...see...me...in...a...bathing...suit...you...horrid...flirt..." Reki squeezed the hand back, "Should...have...spent...more...time...in...the...shooting...range..."

Another small spasm, even with the pain she only managed a soft squeeze. Her eyes teared up, "...I...wish...I...had...been...there...like...you...are...here..."

[Usagi Rei]

Rei grinned at her, even though his eyes were still concerned. "You bet I am." He said. "Especially if it's one of the local ones. You'd look great in a local style."

There was a guilty flash in his eyes; he'd just missed the gunner instants before Reki was shot. "I will." He said, nodding.

He gave her hand a tighter squeeze, partially for support, partially to distract her from the pain. "I know. I understand." Rei took a breath. "And she understood, too, I'm sure of it." Rei spoke confidently. It was true what he'd said when they last spoke; he really did feel like he had a good sense of Naomi from talking to Reki.

[Matsu Eriko]

Eriko cast a quick glance to see Reki quickly attended by Rei, giving a few nods as she moves from her position and quickly meets Hide at the truck where she skewered the bastard right to his new sweet ride. Her gaze went to look out for potential threats, it seemed like a few of the workers and goons were quickly making their selves scarce after the fighting started. She strolled over with her gun trained right at Gorou...


Gorou

"...Wait!" He coughed with a few laboured breaths with a hand out. "You want the data core?! ...I got it right, here!"

Gorou quickly went to his side to get a hold of something that clearly wasn't anything of the sort, only prompting Eriko to fire a few quick shots into his chest to finish him before he could do anything funny with it.

"Well, I guess he was going to be an asshole to the very end..." Eriko sighed as she lowered her gun.

[Boogiepop]

With the dig site secured, there still remained the issue of the actual vault itself. Taiki and a few of his goons had entered it prior to the fighting starting. There was more than a moment of respite if the group wanted to collect themselves and prepare.

[Matsu Hide]

"Well, won't see this asshole ever again." Hide wiped her blade clean of filthy pirate blood and sheathed it not long after. She turned her attention to Eriko, having reached over to give her a pat on the shoulder. "Shooting him must've felt good after the shit he put you through."

[Kuni Koyuki]

Last combatants of the other side retreating, a rarity in her line of work, Koyuki takes that moment to inhale deep and center herself. Flaming katana wielded in hand she watches the exchange with Eriko and Gorou start to take place, but hardly cares for the squabble. Reki was downed, and although Rei called for her she'd already known. Throwing off the katana out to her side the beautiful blade made from flame itself dissipates like so many fiery leaves into the wind and scatters back to sources of heat and light scattered about. Back to where they'd come from.

Coming around the truck Koyuki half-slides through the dirt and falls on her knee beside Rei and Reki. Looking over the woman on the ground she smiles, "You did good, still holding on. Just a little longer, alright?" she says, and quickly gets to work removing fabric out of her way from where Reki's wound was. "Space," she calls out to Rei, shouldering him if he doesn't heed the call quick enough.

Both hands press down onto, and over the wound firmly, it hurt. Koyuki seems to be aware of that, but she wasn't exactly the prep-you-for-it type. Chanting an incantation she beseeches the water kami from the surrounding area to come to her aid. Moisture from sweat, or out of nearby objects, slowly coalesces together into little motes that hang around in the air surrounding Koyuki's hands as they press against Reki's wound, a soft glow emanating from beneath.

Memories of the moment plague Reki's mind in those few seconds, and yet they're different. When the shot hit, with the aid of the kami, the memory that plays has a dull pain where there was once one of a searing burn. As if the pain itself in her memory had drifted away. By the time the memory ends, she notices that there's far less physical pain now as well.

Moving her hands for only a moment to check the wound once more, she confirms it for herself, and repeats the process once more.

Rei had time to flash Reki one last smile before he was unceremoniously shoved away. He released her hand with a grunt, rising to his feet.

Lingering long enough to make sure Reki was alright, Rei went to join the other two. "What an asshole." He said. Bending down, he casually searched the dead Gorou. "Even if he was trying to pull a gun, maybe he really did have the data core on him..."

[Akodo Reki]

Reki hesitantly let go of Rei's hand as Koyuki went about her work. "Naomi...I'm sorry...wait...for me." She closed her eyes and tensed as the kami did their work. When she opened them, there were tears on her cheeks. "Thank you, Kuni-san." Her voice was back to it's professional tone, she even managed a weary smile. "Usagi-san...why am I always on the verge of an emotional breakdown whenever you are around?"

She locks eyes with the Kuni, "...is it alright if I stand? Your skill has left only the barest linger of pain in the wound, but...I must confess to not being an expert on such things and I know internal bleeding is very dangerous."

[Matsu Eriko]

"Well, won't see this asshole ever again." Hide wiped her blade clean of filthy pirate blood and sheathed it not long after. She turned her attention to Eriko, having reached over to give her a pat on the shoulder. "Shooting him must've felt good after the shit he put you through."

Eriko let out a sigh on the matter. "A little bit, admittedly he's just a slice of a bigger shit pie, unfortunately. Still, payback for what happened on Asakaze. I'm still blocking what happened there from my mind..."

"I saw that Taiki went inside, one of the underbosses to the True Scions," she threw in as a bit of exposition. "If they've managed to get into that vault, it's not exactly looking great. But, there's only one way out and I think we have that covered now."

She walked over to the corpse of Gorou with Rei and gave a quick search to see if he actually had the datacore on him. No such thing it seemed but he watch in reach of an explosive satchel tucked away behind him. "Of course, the asshole wouldn't have that on him. But...now, we could go down there to see what they have or we could just blow the entrance entirely to bury the whole thing and be done with it entirely. What's everyone's take on this?"

[Kuni Koyuki]

Koyuki, still wiht her hands over Reki's wound, pushes down hard and looks for a wince from Reki. Seeing no reaction that would be worrisome she shakes her head, "You are fine, Akodo-sama," she offers a brief smile and a nod, not one you'd give a friend necessarily and as such it looks rather foreign on Koyuki's features. Even with all the makeup that was most assuredly covered in the dirt and grime of battle.

Before she let her go, however, Koyuki's untenderly brings a hand to Reki's cheeks and brushes away the tears. Making sure the woman looks a presentable bastion of strength. As it was a brief moment between the two, it was left unspoken and would almost surely die in their memories that way. Just that little moment where the mask of politeness breaks for one privately so they both might carry it confidently when faces turned public.

"Naomi would be proud," she offers, quietly.

Pushing herself to her feet first, Koyuki lays a hand down to help Reki stand to her feet.

[Akodo Reki]

Reki blinks at the sudden actions of the Kuni, a small smile briefly given in acknowledgement. "Yes...she would." Grabbing the side of the truck, the Lioness pulls herself up. She's a bit unsteady and uncertain given the previous wound. It soon passes and she is moving around again.

"You do exceptional work, Kuni-san." Her tone is back to its full formality, and she picks up her rifle. Cradling the weapon at the ready, she makes her way over to the others. Her gaze attentive to the surroundings.

"Well...this is your expedition Matsu-san, what's next?" Despite her words the Lioness's eyes shift to the tomb.
