Reki saw the monster fall and breathed a sigh of relief, then she saw Rei take a hit and felt her blood boil. "HEY ASSHOLE! NO ONE SHOTS THAT HARE!" Despite her anger, she kept her aim level and fire a round into the man.

Hearing him call that out, there was one thing she really wanted to personally say to that cybernetic-eye-having-bastard. Yet, no, it wasn't about shoving it in his face over some stupid little interaction they had had. Koyuki was here for Hide and Eriko, and Hide was bleeding profusely. Keeping her head down she quickly darts over to the woman and puts her hand over the wound. Giving a look of apology as she accidentally presses into it.

Sharp spike of pain, and then suddenly it was numb. Feeling flooding back in, and the throbbing falling away. Little motes of water yet hanging in the air around them Koyuki looks to her and offers a brief smile.

Standing tall for a second she looks out over to Taiki, "Hey Asshole! That's her wife!" she shouts, and nods to Hide before ducking down.

After keeping herself low from the barrage of fire from Taiki, she would pop right back up with a glare on her face and her gun trained on his face. A part of her wished that she had a smarter one-liner for this but winning this argument was something that mattered to her the most, putting her contrary heart at ease. "No, you're not!"

With that, she blasted the old man and sent him slumped back on his back.

Grimacing, still holding his (seemingly defective) rifle, Rei slowly rose to his feet.

"Everyone okay?" He called out. "And also, what was that thing?"

[Akodo Reki]

Reki relaxed and sighed, wincing in pain as she made her way over to Rei. Naomi had taught her a few things...one of those was that sometimes you could make people feel better with a little physical contact. So probably to the confusion of the Hare, Reki wrapped an arm around him and gave the man a hug.

"It's alright Rei-san, everyone is ok. Your shooting will improve with time." Which was meant to sound encouraging given his terrible shooting...it may have been unintentionally patronizing. Naomi had taught Reki the motions, but they were still perfecting it when the former Shinjo was taken from the Lion's life.

[Kuni Koyuki]

Watching the ronin run, Taiki fall, and the moment settle for now she wasn't quite ready to lose tension and be any less careful but damn she needed a break. Leaning her back against the boxes they'd been using for cover Koyuki takes a much needed moment of respite. Bringing her hand up to slide under the armor of her shoulder pad and offer a quick prayer to ask for the kami's aid. Little motes of water finding themselves floating about her hand once more, the flashes of memory and the easing of pain being taken away as her body is sped to heal.

She wasn't quite done, after all. There was still more she needed to do before she could let herself really rest. More pain, more hurt, but she could take it because she was a Meishozo, and that made her Crab. Right now though? Right now she just needed one second to shut her eyes and breathe.

Rei blinked in surprise as he suddenly found himself being hugged by Reki. More experienced with physical contact, his arm slid easily around her waist, giving her a squeeze in return. It was kinda nice, actually.

And then Rei got shot one more time. Metaphorically, anyway.

"Oof." He said, chuckling. "Maybe I do need to put some more time in at the range. Or get my sights checked... you, on the other hand, it's clear why you won our contest."

[Akodo Reki]

Reki blushed a little at the return hug. Her memory sparked at a feeling of familiarity.

What is this Naomi-san?

It's called a hug Reki-chan.

I know what a hug is, Naomi-san. Why?

Because you looked upset.

Slowly she let go of the Hare. It feels nice, Naomi-chan.

"Well I am here a few more days...we can work on it...my friend." Reki smiled and turned back to the group.

"I think we can all agree this research would valuable to any clan. A terror weapon to break enemy morale as their own turn against them." She took a deep breath and continued. "Which is why it should be destroyed utterly and completely. No test data, no samples, nothing that could be used to recreate the weapon."

She straightened and pulled her tunic tight, looking formal or trying to, "As a the ranking officer I take full responsibility for this decision...we will share the glory but the burden of consequence is mine." A melancholic smile forms on her lips, "No need for anyone else to risk punishment."

[Usagi Rei]

Rei let go equally slowly as they parted. "Only after we've done our beach trip." He murmured, smiling at her.

Grunting, he changed to his last rifle clip, just in case. He straightened as Reki pulled rank; he wasn't a Lion, but it was a Lion mission, mostly. "I recommend do a quick sweep, see if there's any other useable intel or material. But as for everything related to... that..." Rei grimaced as the melted monster. "As a Witchfinder, I concur. This needs to be destroyed."

[Matsu Hide]

Hide got up to her feet, no longer profusely bleeding all over the place. Still, the bite stung a bit. Her shoulder never could catch a break. “Probably should… Shoot that bastard a few more times to make sure he’s super dead.”

She looked to Reki and Rei with a nod. “Yeah, the lab has to go. We’re pretty sure that these “ronin” True Scion guys are just a Mantis front or something. We were dangerously close to maybe this being used on the Lion.”

[Matsu Eriko]

If this was an earlier stage in her life, Eriko might have been beating herself up for not thinking of a better witty one-liner prior to wrapping up the battle. There were easily far bigger and more important things on her mind, like Hide! Now that the danger was over and they weren't preoccupied with dangerous gunfire or something that was made up of nightmarish teeth, she made her way over to her wife. She might wrapped her in a tight hug and never let go but Hide was just bitten by...whatever that thing was. If it was biological in nature, there was no telling what else it could do to her or anyone else*.

(*Matsu Hide is fine!)

"Hide...are you okay?" She said with a shaky voice of concern as she offered out a hand.

"...I don't know," she would say in regards to Rei's question at first. "I suppose it could have been something that spiritual in origin at first but whatever Kuni Emi and those involved did, they probably extracted something and managed to replicate or accelerate some sort of spiritual curse."

Did it turn the subject into a creature from the Realm of Slaughter or this was just some twisted distortion based on humanity's potential for rage? She supposed this was perhaps where some Kuni could have found something like this very fascinating. The curiosity driving them to develop some means to combat this...or potentially weaponize it. However, she already knew full well where that route lead and she had been burdened with the actions of her nefarious ancestor now. "I agree with Akodo-sama. This isn't something that shouldn't just be buried but utterly destroyed, no bit of it leaves here. I think the True Scions have some 'escavation' charges around that should do the trick."

"Let us not be hasty on the demolition. We should make sure we aren't about to create a cloud of monster making serum. Not to mention what chemicals might have been used to make it." Reki frowned, "Safe disposal."
