Kanna needed a break.

She needed a drink too, but she couldn't drink without removing her mask, and this heavy thing was a pain to set and unset.

So, as of now, she was lurking around the punch table, in case it was somehow strong enough she could get drunk simply by standing next to it.

[Susumu Sumiko]

Looking very different for the night, Sumiko had rather enjoyed not being herself for an evening. She had collected a drink and was sipping it, watching the evenings activities.

Bayushi Senshuken is also present. The young courtier is dressed in a more traditional way than she's used to, but still with her distinctive street style.

Susumu Kimurahime

Susumu Kimurahimi was present to support her husband, as well as potentially get some schmoozing done. Managing the household didn't exactly give too many opportunities for making connections outside of playing with building blocks and hashing out sibling diplomacy. She would make her appearance tonight in a green sequined gown with a mermaid skirt. Her mask was an elaborate lace design with onyx gems.

Susumu Kimurahime

Susumu Kimurahimi was present to support her husband, as well as potentially get some schmoozing done. Managing the household didn't exactly give too many opportunities for making connections outside of playing with building blocks and hashing out sibling diplomacy. The games of the Scorpion were always a challenge, however events like these were the main focus of his work. But seeing Kimurahime, and the resplendent way she presented herself. The Serpent slithered from behind, flanking her to her righr, his smile showing a bit more genuine warmth than what diplomatic matters handled.

"You look stunning tonight."

[Usagi Rei]

Rei was more than happy to mingle at the party. He wore a kimono in Hare colors, but open a bit in front in the Scorpion style, revealing the masculine lines of his chest. The mask he wore was a plain black one, up over his face, but leaving his smiling mouth exposed.

He had a drink in hand, because of course he did.

[Asahina Hinata]

With the the Kakita Stochastic Couturier machine somehow knowing Hinata would need appropriate dress for tonight it had spun him an off the shoulder, floor length dress of sparkling dark blue silk in the Stormbird fashion. It was slit to the waist down the side of each leg revealing matching fishnet stockings up to mid thigh. He'd completed the look with silver strappy heels that elevated him to the lofty heights of . . . 5'3".

Which left a mask . . . which in proper Hinata fashion he'd never considered he might need. At a Scorpion ball . . . on a Scorpion planet . . . known galaxy wide for Scorpion shenanigans. Which was why he now sported a traditional kitsune half mask from the nose up, over blood red painted lips and a long white wig to try and hide his distinctive blue hair. The wig having been added by the Embassy staff as there was no way Hinata would have remembered he needed to stay 'anonymous' tonight. They'd also given him a lecture on how to behave which he'd promptly forgotten.

Thoroughly enjoying himself, and totally forgetting the 'anonymous requirement', Hinata was taking a break from the dancefloor and watching the proceedings.

Dressed to the theme of peacocks, with what seemed like a full-face mask or perhaps just a combination of mask and exellent facepaint-work, wearing a black ao dai adorned with a peacock in gemstone and sequins, the only thing that could give away the spider-princess' true identity was a pair of black silken gloves with faint spiderweb patterning.

For now, the "peacock" observed going ons. Who was leaving with who, and who they came back with.

Kimurahime quietly watched people gather about, catching little bits and parts of who they might be under the mask. Was the fun knowing who was underneath or accepting what persona they were adopting tonight?

She perked up when Yuji approached and smiled genuinely at the compliment. The outfit was a small secret she kept locked away for such an occasion. However, she suspected that Yuji's outfit was bound to turn more heads.

"Thank you, my handsome dark prince." She tittered with her smile. Her eyes looked rather pleased with how he wore his costume. "You are very majestic. I only hope to be a worthy consort tonight."

"Good evening, Susumu-kashu." Casually dropping the honorific reserved for famous singers. "I hope you are enjoying yourself, yes?" His voice was soft, resembling that of a throaty purr.

Her lips moved to a smile, revealing it was indeed clever face paint on the lower half of her face, and not a solid mask. "It's... unusual, but entertaining," she remarked, picking up her glass of something colorful and bubbly to take a sip.

Painted eyes narrowed in thought as she looked the man up and down. "Hmmm... I recognise you~" Yakumo's voice turned up somewhat as she connected the dots. Which was impressive enough as she had not seen the man in person like this before. But, she probably should not draw attention to it?

"'Tis an honor, esteemed cat lord," she settled on, figuring that he'd know that she knew.

"I pale in comparison to your presence." His shoulders tolled back as his posture straightened. Taking two drinks from a wandering servant with a tray, he offered one to her. His red eyes focused on her. Without his glasses, the mask wasn't helping his vision. While he could see her clearly, seeing at a distance was a struggle, the details lost in the costumes and goings ons of the other attendees.

His voice slipped low. "I don't think many would need masks for me to not recognize them tonight." There was a small laugh at himself and the condition, grateful that she was here to confide in.

With the quests speaking in hushed tones, Yakumo was likely able to hear him smirk, even if his mask hid the grin that flickered on his lips, the lord magistrate letting his 'paw' drop. "Alas, my face is literally all over the place, not much unlike yours." Of course Yakumo's face was associated with posters telling about her Imperial tour while Mineichi's face decorated much of the local propaganda posters. "And honor is all mine. It seems that the whole city is talking about a certain lady peacock, yes?" He looked markedly at her, trying to catch her eyes with his for a moment. "So I figured to see myself and not trust the lesser birds and their words." Mineichi curled his wrist, again mimicking a paw for a moment before snatching a small cup of sake from a tray that passed them.

Osamu strides into the party with an air of nonchalance...even slightly irritation. He is decked out in a simple outfit, but expertly tailored black with a mask that leaves no doubt about his Clan. It's a dead giveaway, but he doesn't much seem to care, waving off people announcing him and heading over to the bar for a drink.

So damned confident of his disguise, his alter ego emerges unchained. The handsome man replies with a twist and takes the young Scorpion into a hold as the dance makes her lean back nearing the floor. In that momentum, still with the rose in between his teeth –– which adds a funny element to the scene –– he replies with a returning whisper, "Step by step, my darling. Bit by bit. I am honored to get that which the Fortunes give."

Senshuken is very agile, but by no means that good of a dancer. So she decides to surrender herself to the masked man like a leaf in the wind. She has to admit that the Kaiu is a very funny man, too tall but admitedly funny with great responses to her teases. And brave of course. Such nasty rumours would make any other man hide in his room till the end of days. She chuckles while dancing.

Another approach and another whisper. "Fortunes favor the bold they say so I'm going to admit it." Another swirl, another approach, another whisper. "Your mask has set my heart aflame tonight, charming stranger."
