[Day 5 - Late Evening] Looking for a Clue

[Matsu Hide]

“Exactly. We just gotta find this Cheung before they do. Maybe offer him some direct protection, y’know?” Hide took a look around, figuring out the best course of action in getting around the body on the floor. “Uhhhh, what do we do about this guy? I think I may have gone a little… Overboard.”

[Matsu Eriko]

Eriko slowly looked at the corpse on the floor and Hide, then back again. One of the things that her sensei taught her was that the Hida were never going to keep something alive for interrogation, so this was something she was kind of used to at least. She smiled faintly with a shrug. "Well, maybe just a smidge off the top. Maybe giving these guys are drastic haircut isn't the best thing until we can get some information next time. We don't know if these are full-time employees or just 'contractors'. I guess they were probably just ordered to go the moment someone else walked through those doors."

With that, she walked over to the body and started picking at the body, while doing her best to ignore all the brain bits. She picked out a card from a pocket and showed it to Hide. "Huh, Mako Motor Garage. That's something."

[Matsu Hide]

“That’s a place to start.” Hide leaned against the counter, eyes shooting back towards the door every now and then. She couldn’t let her guard down just yet. At least that partner wasn’t coming back anytime soon.

Of course, she did notice how Eriko would have to avoid the results of her handiwork. “Sorry about… The mess. Next time I’ll try and keep it cleaner so we could at least see the face.”

[Matsu Eriko]

"That's fine...but this might take some explaining to the magistrates. I suppose a random ronin who attacked us first, obviously, is an open and such case. Well, I shot first but they were clearly after us! We might be walking into a hornet's nest next time we stumble into them." She sighed as she stood back up and dusted her hands. "You got friends, right? I know there's Kuni Koyuki, maybe?"

[Matsu Hide]

“Errrr… I met a ronin named Yurei earlier. And, uhhh… Yeah, I’ve been a bit slow on the friends thing so far. But, yeah, Kuni Koyuki-san might know some people I can talk to.” Hide rolled her shoulders in an attempt to stretch.

[Matsu Eriko]

"Let's keep that in mind when we consider getting some extra help for this case. For now, we should probably get out of here before they think about sending more goons after us. This isn't exactly a place where we want to get into more trouble. We should probably boogie out of here, eh?" She said as she motioned to the door and started back out of the room.

[Matsu Hide]

“Yeah, good idea.” Hide moved towards the door, checking on Eriko to make sure she was moving well enough, given the wound on her side. “Well, it’s always exciting with you.”

[Matsu Eriko]

Eriko looked a bit bashful at that. "Not always, cut me some credit, will you? That's probably for the best, too. I'd hate it if a trip to the groceries were always this dangerous. Anyway, let's blow this chip stand!"

Eriko looked like she had a bad burn from the shot but she would be moving well enough. Some soreness in the morning waiting for her at least. With a wave of her hand, she started to jog out of the converted-utility hall-turned-to-offices.

Well, that made Hide feel a wave of relief. Eriko would be fine. But then her words finally registered and Hide couldn’t help but protest. “Hey, I meant it as a compliment!”

Of course she jogged after Eriko. Hide was also looking forward to not being in the slums anymore. Just a nice bath and then to bed she would go.
