Rei turned as she spoke, his expression blandly neutral. His eyes narrowed as he studied her features, his pale eyes penetrating. Eventually, his gaze met hers.
"Oh." He finally said. He was silent a few moments. "I gathered something happened. I didn't know what." He was silent again. That actually explained a lot. Why she kept testing him, offering him trust, but then lashing out. How quickly she seemed to attach to Yakumo. It definitely fit.
"Okay." He said.
Then he smiled. "Kuni-san... you wanna get a drink sometime? No messing around, just you and me and some alcohol? And we can talk if you want, or we can just shut up." He shrugged. "Either way."
