(D2, LE) Getting Carded

The broken sign on the rundown storefront read 'Convenience Store'. The sign wasn't entirely a lie. Inside was a collection of cheap goods at marked up prices that were for sale. And if one didn't mind the rundown location, the huge thug by the doorway that served as security, or the aroma of the tofu dogs that had rolled endlessly upon their heating element for kami knew how long, it' being open all hours DID make it convenient.

In the corner of the shop rested a photobooth with a well faded 'Out of Order' sign on it that looked like it could qualify as a historical document.

Hato walked up to the weedy little clerk who sat in a boxed off section of store, the security partition clearly having been shot at a handful of times.

The clerk looked disinterestedly up at the ronin.

"Yeh?"

"This one would like a package of black mist cigarettes and a lotto ticket." she offered, sliding three koku into the coin slot.

"Yeh, ok, they're in the back, one sec." the clerk said pressing a button beneath the counter.

Hato made some marks on a lotto ticket. She slid it to the clerk, and then ducked into the out of order photo booth. There was a singular flash of light within, but no photo came out.

Hato ducked back out of the booth while she waited for the package to come out of the back.

Hato wasn't the only late day shopper to find 'convenience' it seems as another ronin repeated a similar process, if with a slightly different order placed at the desk.

He offers a very slight nod of both acknowledgement, and of 'neither of us saw anything', to Hato.

Hato nodded back at Dai. She wondered briefly how many other people patronized this convenience store. Obviously they needed to have a certain number of customers to stay in business, but no one liked a crowded store.

She picked up her item from the clerk.

"Hope your lucky numbers come up, yeh? You might win big.' the clerk offered handing over the items, which Hato quickly pocketed.

She'd pointedly ignored Dai using the out of order photo booth, or his own interaction with the clerk. Info was money, but why unnecessarily risk some else's payday? If she get caught, she wasn't going to give up Dai to save herself.

"Good weather for running, ne?" she offered conversationally to Dai. "Hope yours is pleasant."

"To you as well, Wolf-san." The choice not use her name, well the name he had heard her give the Imperial at least, not out of insult but to further assure that her dealings here were anonymous. At least anonymous as far as he was concerned - one could never speak for certain about the clerk. But it was the best his money could buy.
