Somewhere in the slums, a drunken Spider propositioned a ronin. She smiled, gave him the name of Tako, and led him to her lair. And he and his koku were never heard from again.


There were lots of ronin in the slums. While the Spider was closing his final deal to contract a ronin for totally legal, totally legitimate business opportunities, Hato was a ronin who was actually working in the area on totally legal, totally legitimate business.

And just like the Spider handing his coins over to a ronin, Hato was handing her coins over to her contacts. It was the cycle of koku. Wealth created by the workers, collected by the samurai, taxed by the Imperials, and then finding it's way back to the lowest for their games.
