Built in a repurposed magisterial office, Gakugokuya offers rooms for rent for both long and short term visitors. While the rooms are mostly threadbare, they are all equipped with simple and serviceable 'himegimi' size futon-style beds, electric kettles and air conditioning. Vending machines lining the walls of the lobby serve as rudimentary room service, providing the guests with loose tea, cheap sake, notebooks, cup noodles and contraceptives. Notably, the hotel has very small human staff, the check-in and check-out progress managed by rudimentary AI the visitors can interact through one of the many consoles available both within the lobby and immediately outside the hotel. The doors leading to establishment are flanked by two massive guardian dog statues carved from dark stone. For reasons lost in time, both of the statues are holding a tetsubo in their paws.
