[Usagi Rei]

Rei chewed his lip. "I... don't know." After a moment, he smiled. "Well, in the end, she didn't shoot me. Not even for pretend."

"Feel safe, though..." He took a deep breath, his chest rising and falling, before looking back at her with a smile. "What makes you feel safe, Ide-san?"

[Ide Yamako]

She raises an eyebrow at him. "Don't think I didn't notice that little change of subject, Usagi-san. But we'll come back to that."

She ponders. "Honesty. When someone is forthright with me, I know where I stand, I know where I can move and what I can do."

[Usagi Rei]

Rei gave her a quick sidelong smile. "As quick as you are honest, Ide-san." He murmured.

He considered her words as they walked along. "Do you think it's possible for someone to be honest some of the time?" He made a face. "I know how that sounds. And yet I can't help but feel like there's a difference."

[Ide Yamako]

She slows her pace, thinking deeply. "There is honesty and honesty. One can be truthful without revealing everything. One can show how they feel by actions instead of words or vice versa. One can know the truth in one's heart but know that it is not always what is most palatable."

She returns to her previous amble. "But...if you do not know if another is being honest, that is very difficult. If one must trust without knowing, that is its own complexity. Does that make sense?"
