Unexpected Faces (Day 6 Mid afternoon)

In unexpected places. Jun hadn't really expected anything to come of his random message to Yamako. The picture of a cup of sake and the question if drinking was all to do on the World of Dreams had got an answer though. One he hadn't expected. Apparently the Unicorn woman was on planet too, and after a few messages a meeting for lunch was arranged.

He didn't need to impress, but he decided to put on a kimono instead of his usual brown coveralls. Though a studied eye could likely tell it had spent a good deal of time lately folded. Still it was better then nothing he supposed. Arriving at the noodle resturant at the mall where Yamako and he were supposed to meet, he fought the urge to lean aganist the wall as he waited for the young lady to arrive.

Yamako came in with a bounce in her step. Finally, someone who wouldn’t talk out of both sides of their mouth. She’s underestimated how exhausting it could be to keep up a series of faces without offering deceit and she was ready for a little relaxation. Hotaru-San’s message had perfect timing.

She gave an eager wave when she saw him and a large smile when she saw him in the kimono. “Ahhh, what have I done to deserve this? So fancy!”

He glanced down at his clothes and his lips crossed into a smirk for a moment. "Just figured I should prove to you that I remember not to wear coveralls everywhere..." There was a small pause. "Sometimes."

"Did you think I'd dress all nice just to try and impress a married woman?" He added his tine probably just a little bit teasing.

[Ide Yamako]

She chuckled, knowing his blunt, teasing ways. "Well, clearly, whoever you have a date with after is very lucky. But I'll take care not to spill my soup on your clothes before hand."

She wrinkled her nose at him, clearly teasing and poking right back. Her pleasure at seeing him is evident and her body language is relaxed and open.

"So what brought you to the World of Dreams? I doubt Winter Court drew you in." She said.

"Maybe you should." He tried to straighten his kimono a bit. "Might help this thing out a bit." Though it'd probably smell a bit worst by the end of it. "Might even help me attract a starving ronin girl or something." Not that he was actively trying to do that.

He gestured for her to lead the way inside. "Vacation or something, was nere to celebrate my cousin's coming nupituals and they kinda left me behind a bit. Left a message about me working too much lately and that i'd never get a date in an asteroid belt."

"So I guess that makes it a vacation?" He frowned, probably.

She bursts out laughing, delighted beyond belief. "So you were abandoned to an involuntary vacation? I love it. Clearly, we'll have to help you make the best of it."

She waves a hand at the shop keeper and they find a table easily. "So what's on the agenda? Shopping? Sun bathing? Oh and are you talking about Yurei-san? I mean there could be two hungry ronin girls on planet, but she is particularly hungry."

His lips curled into a wry smile as she laughed. "Yeah, that's the long and short of it, and that's what I'm trying to do I suppose. So I'd appreciate the help."

"I'm pretty sure I'd end up as red as a tomato if I tried my hand at sun bathing." You didn't get many U.V. rays in space after all. Well not if you wanted to survive at least. "Right now though, no plans in particular." He frowned. "There's really some straving ronin girl running around then?" He snorted and shook his head. "Wasn't talking about Yurei-san though, never met her. She does seem aptly starvign though."

His lips curled into a wry smile as she laughed. "Yeah, that's the long and short of it, and that's what I'm trying to do I suppose. So I'd appreciate the help."

"I mean she's not starving now. I don't think. She's made some good money lately, but she has an appetite that one. I think she went through 3 bu of pastry just by herself the first day I met her." She scanned the menu and placed her order via the screen, grateful for something a bit different.

"There seem to be a rather large number of ronin here. I am unsure as to the reason but its definitely true." She shook her head for a minute.

"But that has nothing to do with vacation. Ok, so sun bathing's out. Hmmm...there's a garden of illusions that's rather spectacular. There's a concert tonight with Susumu Yakumo-san headlining. There's a lovely bar for dancing and music. Quite a lot of possibilities. But the question is, what do you want?"

That ronin girl must be built like a hida if she was eating that much in one sitting. Three bu bought quite a lot of pastries after all. "Well, if Yurei-San is any example, whatever the ronin here are doing. It pays well at the very least."

"As for me?" He paused a moment. "Aside from sake and a warm.body." The small miner was oking. Maybe? "I dunno, maybe go on a date or something, if there is a chance. I'll probably end up in the hands of the Clan' s Nakodo in a few months regardless. May as well try though."

"Other the that? Relax. Those gardens sound kinda nice at least."

Yama started mentally flipping through the people she knew on planet. “Well few big questions then. What type of person sounds like a great date to you and do you have a gender preference of said date?”

A certain zeal had entered her eye, as the auntie feelings flowed through her.

Maybe he shouldn't have said anything about that, but it was a bit too late now and Yamako seemed excited enough about this that he wasn't going to try and dissuade her. "Ladies are my preference." Though he was fairly certain that didn't need to be said. "Other then that." He frowned a moment thoughtfully as he typed in his own food order.

"Someone fun? Looks aren't the most important, and I don't care much if they are tall or short." Though potential dates might fell different about that. "Single." He added with a slight smirk. "Other then that, maybe someone who isn't too... Fancy? If that makes any sense. I'm pretty blunt if I say so myself, and that might rub some..." He didn't say dust suckers. "Samurai the wrong way."

She doesn't snort water out her nose, but its a mildly close call. "Noted. Do you have any preferences on clan ties?"

That was a easy question and he shook his head. "No, not really."

You couldn't afford to be too picky in times like these.

[Ide Yamako]

“Hmm…that leaves some broadness to the field. I’ll think it over.”

She takes a sip of water. “So what else have you been up to, besides weddings and being marooned for vacation?”

He didn't expect much to come of it, but he nodded anyways. "Alright, no rush."

"Me?" He shrugged. "Not a lot, send most of my time working, sometimes get the chance to read something or watch something. Usually try to catch up a bit on sleep when I'm on the Iron Moth, or hit up an arcade or something." Having a three generations old copy of time rescue was kind of lame though. "Go out for drinks too, but that's just the usual."

"Not really all that much else to do up there." He paused. "How abotu yourself? Get into anything interesting?"

[Ide Yamako]

She ponders that question, accepting her food as it arrives. She takes a bite, slurping the noodles before responding. “Mostly work. I met one of your clan mates actually and was having a chat with them about possible trade. Met a Hare clan member, which I hadn’t done before. Fell into a fountain accidentally at a party. It’s been a very mixed trip.”

"I kinda want to know how you managed that last one." It seemed pretty hard to do to him, but then he was no fountain expert. "He took a moment to take a bite of his own noodles. "Still it sounds like you've been keeping pretty busy, trade talks and all that goes with it."

"Someone has to do it after all, and they'd likely put me to sleep."

[Ide Yamako]

“High heels, leaning and not being quite used to a mask. I will have to practice more for tomorrow to avoid any other problems. Thankfully I was dressed as a mermaid so I tried to make it look vaguely purposeful and only got my head dunked but it was….sub optimal.”

She slurped some noodles. “To me, it’s like how I imagine a machine must be. All these parts working together, going to a common goal but with very different functions. While trade is not always the place I work, it’s interesting to take a look under the hood so to speak.”

"A mermaid?" Jun paused a moment before shaking his head. "I'm happy to leave the dress up to you, I'm pretty sure I couldn't pull off high heels nearly as well." He ran his hand through his hair as his expression turned speculative. "Might pull off the fresh out of the shower look a bit better though."

"I suppose it could be." He mused as topics changed. "I'd prefer to look under the hood of a car though, even if that meant i'd end up with grease up to my elbows. I'm pretty good with numbers but i guess the buying and selling thing doesn't interest me much." Could just be the politics around it though.

[Ide Yamako]

She nodded. "In retrospect, I should have possibly avoided them, but it seemed like the perfect thing for a masquerade. Ah well."

She slurped her noodles. "I could see that being a good look for you. And perhaps feel more natural than dressing up might."

Another slurp. "And I would rather not look into the interior of a car. I am convinced I would break it just by looking. Combustion seems far too close to magic."
