Taking a long look at the weird cat statue he shook his head and made his way to the mostly empty bar and took a seat. He had the money to buy somethign pricey but decided to start with somethign cheap instead. This wasn't some fancy place anyways.

Koroshi had forgone his green and pink kimono for a silver, star shimmering dinner jacket and black pants, as well as a black hat with the character for Honor elegantly drawn on in white paint. The ring with the mon of the Otomo in green and black stones was on his index finger. His presence could not be ignored as the bottoms of the pant leg and ends of the jacket sleeves had tiny bells sewn in to make light noise with every movement. And the samurai was moving.

Koroshi moved backward across the short bar space seemingly as if on an escalator to the moon. His feet moved forward but his body slide backward. The Otomo stopped at the end of the bar and took a seat in an suave fashion before turning to the samurai whose mon he didn't recognize and asked, "did that look cool?"

Jun replied with a shrug before gesturing towards the ratehr utilitarian coveralls he was wearing with the simple mon of the firefly on it. "Not sure if I'm the best to ask if it cools or not though."

"I'm probably a good decade or so behind on the latest trends."

"Worry not most excellent samurai! Fancy will do when cool is out of reach." Koroshi declared before signaling to the bartender for a shot of rum. "I have been practicing that move for a while now and it is getting better. At some point I am considering doing something with the hat but there isn't a lot of movement there that will continue to give the gliding effect. Too much movement up top ruins the illusion you see!"

He got his shot and drank it in one go before making a decision to try something less likely to taste like paint thinner. So he requested a beer.

"Anyway, this one is honored to meet you samurai-san. My name is Otomo Koroshi, assigned to the Imperial embassy in service to his most perfect and excellent majesty, may he reign for 100 years!"

Jun blinked, and a frowned crossed his lips for a moment though he disguised it after a moment with a sip of his sake. He didn't see, he didn't see at all. But then that wasn't too unusual either. "I'll have to trust you on that, I've danced a bit in my life. but usually late at night and after a few more cups of sake." He raised his cup in example.

"But it's good to meet you Otomo-sama." He replied, he could be polite enough to say that at least. "I'm Hotaru Jun Crewmember of FMV - IMSW-C5

Koroshi nodded in some degree of understanding. It wasn't entirely uncommon for other samurai to indicate they did not get what he was saying. Perhaps it was entirely too common.

"Hotaru-san, is a Firefly clansmen correct? I don't think I have ever met one of your kin. They say that the majority of your clan spends their life in space and trips planetside are uncommon." The Otomo said as he tried in vain to remember anything else interesting about the minor clan. "This makes this meeting very special! Would you be willing to tell me about your ship in exchange for dancing tips? Or if that doesn't interest you I could do a magic trick?"

"You're not wrong there on either account. Probably spent less then a year planetside in my entire life." Not that he had been really counting. He took another sip of his sake. "And the same could be said for most of my clanmates too. So it's not really surprising you haven't seen any of us around before."

"Dancing works." He added a moment later. "Not really certain you will find stuff abotu our ships very interesting, but I can tell you a bit of what I know. Anything in particular you interested in?"

"Tell me about the asteroids your people mine? What is it like to see the darkness of space everytime you look out a window? What kind of festivals does your clan practice in the absence of seasonal ones?" Koroshi questioned with an earnest tone.

"Ah, that's quite a few topics there Otomo-sama." Jun replied, fighting back a grimace. "I suppose we can start with festivals though?" He said after a moment, it seemed an interesting enough topic after all. "Thoguh I figure the festivals we have aren't that much different then the one's you are used to."

"We still have seasonal festivals after all, they just aren't in any particular season, and there is nothing like fireworks and stuff like that." A frown crossed his features. "They aren't even allbusy if most of the ships in the swarm are out and well if you are a mining vessel during one, you're not likely to do much in the way of celebrating."

"Yeah, each swarm is made up of quite a few smaller vessels and call one of our carriers home. The Akemiae is part of the iron months swarm." There was numbers and such he could give out, but he didn't feel the need.

At the second question Jun nodded. "They are our life in a way. Without em we really wouldn't have a purpose."

The Otomo started in on his beer now. "This is very true! The Firefly are one of the few asteroid miners this one can think of. You likely know the other competitors but the Firefly are among the most famous. Space mining is much risker than planetary mining, but this one was told that many asteroids can contain rare metals that are difficult to harvest from a planet."

"But I have asked many questions. You wish to know something about dancing!" He stood up and put his hands out in front of him. "Watch closely."

He slowly moved backwards and to the side with a step every second or so. Kept his head level to the ground as he pretended to dance with a partner.

"Aye, it is pretty risky business." Jun confirmed with a nod. There were probably riskier things, but nothing really came to mind, at least for the Firefly.

When asked to watch closely, Jun did so, watching the Otomo as he danced with an imaginary partner. "Does that move have a name?" The young man asked after a few moments. Dance moves had names, right?

"Hai, this is the waltz." Koroshi continued to glide slowly. "It doesn't take much room, requires slow music, and a nice partner. Not hard to become adequate, and while I am unsure exactly how small your ship is...it can be done in close quarters."

He continued the steps for a dozen or so more beats. "Pay attention to my feet. Forward, backward, side, forward, backward, side...I can go in a very tiny triangle or square. It is best used for romantic occasions, this one has found that extended eye contact and close quarters arouse Benten's attentions."

The Otomo finally stopped and sat back down. "Is Hotaru-san married?"

"Mining vessel's aren't exactly the type of places for dancing. Space is kinda at a premium after all, though you could probably find somewhere for it if ya really wanted to." Jun replied. He probably didn't need to explain that you were more likely to fuck your crew mates then dance with em either.

"Mmmm...." Jun repleid as he watched the man's feet. He'd danced a little but not exactly like that. So it might be somethign to remember. "Married? Nah, not yet at least. Probablly will end up that way soon though. What about you Otomo-sama?"

"My family had a few suggestions for partners when I was born. My gift with the kami made these partnerships untenable, and the last few years have been occasionally punctuated with visits from nakado. Nothing stable nor serious." Koroshi said in a tone of disappointment. "I have often imagined having a wife or husband and some children to love. It is like having your own team where you can't leave each other. And then they can grow up big and strong and destroy the enemies of the Empire of foreign worlds or something."

That was a rather violent future the Otomo dreamed of for his children, not that Jun had much to say about that matter. "Kids have to grow up to do something." He replied simply.

"No prospects though, Otomo-sama. Were you maybe looking for someone while you were here? Or just seeing to the duties granted to you by your Clan and the Empire?"

"Indeed, though this one was an unexpected difficulty to his own parents. My mother runs a dance studio for backup dancers and movie stars and so on under the Imperial standard. My father is a curator of art, and neither of them had the gift. It was planned that I would take over one of their roles but that is likely not going to happen now." Koroshi shrugged as he started drinking again. "I have considered marrying someone who would be able to fulfill these filial duties. But no one comes to mind that I have met. Unless Hotaru-san has secretly been an art historian this entire conversation?"

"I drew a picture once." Jun offered helpfully. "You could almost even tell what it was." Which is better then what he'd seen in some art. "Seems like you'd be good lookign for some sort of idol though?" He added after a moment.

"They can't be singing songs and dancing on stage forever after all, at some point they'd probably need to retire to teach or something." That type of person may know somethign about art as well.

"Perhaps the Susumu popstar would work." Koroshi nodded with the Firefly's words. "She is already working with Imperial contract and might be amiable to a more long term arrangement. But this one is not entirely interested in popstars, so maybe it is best to leave it to the nakado."

"Is Hotaru-san looking as well? Or perhaps someone is looking for him?"
