She nods. "It has its moments."

She pauses, waiting for the manager to leave after indicating a desire for more colors. "Honour...is complex, no matter what some say. Especially in the age we live in. I suspect things were simpler in other times. But now, we must juggle our duty, our honour and also the knowledge of how our actions effect others. It is part of why I...quarrel with the choices of some of the other clans. They are far too focused on themselves and not on the possibilities. The Ide 2 discovered new life! But who knows if we will ever be able to access the information in its systems."

[Yūrei]

"I believe the truth, and honour, are out there. But you will find no disagreement from me, seeing how heimin live, it reminds me there is much to do, neh?"

Looking over the various shoes, one thought is blurted out before she can stop it
"More colours?"
Shoes were black, brown or white, right?

[Ide Yamako]

She nods. "I believe that as well. There is more out there than is dreamt of in all our philosophies, I suspect."

She raises an eyebrow. "We must see the full spectrum of options before we make a decision. Limiting ourselves from the beginning would give us a false sense of what was possible, don't you think?"

She is clearly talking about more than shoes, but also very much about shoes.

[Yūrei]

"I see."
Ohhhh, she's not just talking about the shoes!

"If we fail to consider something, than our decision itself will be flawed as it is not based on facts?"
The ronin seems to be processing this as an attendant returns with a very bright and colourful array of wear.

[Ide Yamako]

She nods. "Precisely. Now we could go with basic black and its true that it goes with everything. But, if you want a formal shoe that can really dress up an outfit, I would pick one in a color that you think will go with most of the clothes or the color family you'll be aiming for in the future so that you can add a pop of color. For example, black pants and colorful boots draw the eye. But if you're wearing white or light colors, you might want something a little more mellow. Its like....choosing tools for an assignment, if you will."

Looking at Yurei intently, she said, "Though you cannot go wrong with trying to play it safe, you also have to know when it is time to be bold. Learning oneself and what suits one is a lifelong lesson but it starts with a single step."

She places a gorgeous silver halfboot that's been inlaid with a type of color changing metal that shifts between purple, gold and tea in front of Yurei. "Now, this would do well with cool colors but would clash with warmer colors. However, it also draws the eye. It could make one stand out. But being seen can have its own consequences."

[Yūrei]

"Oh they're beautiful."
She runs a hand down the inlay before looking a little crestfallen
"But you're right though, it might draw the eye too much. I can't wear something everyday that has a big 'look at me, strip'. Maybe something in a single colour? Or with a coloured heel?"

[Ide Yamako]

She looked at her, wondering if her careful message had gotten across. "Perhaps these could be for a more formal time? When it would be advisable to be seen? Or perhaps you could keep these, for when you've got just the right occasion for them.

For everyday, she reached for a durable set of what might be used as riding boots by some Unicorn. "These are quite durable, have a strong heel but should give you a bit of height and the buckles help you tighten and cinch. In a pinch, you could probably cut one off for a tourniquet if needed, though I don't recommend it."

[Yūrei]

"Of course, and I could take them out and stare at them when I need a boost."
Hastily
"Not that I'd ever need a boost, but if I did, seeing them would definitely help."

Turning to the riding boots
"I don't know this style as well, but you're right, they'd be perfect for more active wear. And the tourniquet suggestion." sounding impressed "You've thought of everything."

Quietly
"Am I just allowed to try them on?"

[Ide Yamako]

She nods. "It never hurts to have something that reminds you of where you're headed or your goal. It keeps one sharp."

She shrugs. "I may not be a bushi or one who uses my hands often, but I have been around enough who do to know that versatility is always a plus. And yes, you should absolutely try them on. Get a feel for if this is right for you or not."

[Yūrei]

Yūrei perches on the chair leg and slides her worn slippers off before trying the boots on one by one, carefully sliding them over the new pants
"Oh, and they come with this little horse necklace, that's kinda perfect."
Beaming she stands, a couple inches taller than before.

"And the arch support is...oh my feet feel good. Oh, I really need to stop wearing flats."
She takes a few steps around the room looking very excited.

She beamed. “See this is what I mean. Clothes can help uou feel better, different, larger, more confident, they can’t do it all but look in the mirror now! Ask yourself if that’s how you usually look.”

[Yūrei]

"Oh no...I mean, I've only got this little hand mirror usually. But I'm definitely looking better, different, larger and more confident. I feel...respectable? But not too respectable, like I can still go out onto the street?"
She looks back at Yamako to check if that sounds right.

She nodded. “Precisely. You won’t make heads turn unless you want them to. You’re just a practical every day person on a mission.”

She turns back to Yamako, nearly bouncing up and down.

"It's perfect! Saku- Uh, a friend of mine will be quite jealous when they see it."

[Ide Yamako]

She nodded. “Precisely. You won’t make heads turn unless you want them to. You’re just a practical every day person on a mission.”

She turns back to Yamako, nearly bouncing up and down.

"It's perfect! Saku- Uh, a friend of mine will be quite jealous when they see it."

A little sideways smile pops up.She didn’t miss that half a name. “Ahh, a friend? Well we will have to see about some accessories too. So Thai friend can give you their honest opinion. And be properly jealous.”

[Yūrei]

"Yeah, a ronin friend."
Pause
"Maybe also closer than that, I'm still figuring things out. But they love their fashion so if you have any suggestions that will make her extra jealous?"
Yūrei indicates she could very much deal with that.

[Ide Yamako]

She chuckles. “Have no fear. We’ve only scraped the surface of what’s possible here. Let’s find your other shoes and then…it’s time for accessories. I am sure we can make your friend vibrate with jealousy.”

[Yūrei]
