As he knocks his foe down, Akuta stands over him, blood running down his blade from the strike. His eyes almost gleam red in the dark light and he has to check himself from just finishing the man off. Leveling his sword to the man's neck, Akuta goes to kick away his sidearm so that he's left unarmed.

"If you move without me telling you to, I'm going to feed you to my spectral friend back there, piece by piece...and I'll start with pieces that you'll miss. Do we understand each other?"

He fixes the fallen one with a harsh stare, awaiting an answer.

"The fuck you are. The fuck you are working with ghosts." The panicked man stutters, fear in his eyes "The fuck you strike down a doshin!"

Staring down at the frightened man, Akuta keeps his blade at doshin's throat, considering what to do with him. Slowly drops of the man's own blood run down the katana of the ronin, plip-plopping onto his skin.

"Little doshin, you should be more careful in these alleys...you never know what you might find. Especially when you strike down samurai, ronin as they may be. The laws of the wolves say that when you strike down a member of the pack, you get torn apart by those that are left...give me your ID...slowly and we'll find out if you're telling the truth or if I'm going to find out what color your insides are."

"Fucker.." the man muttered, moving his hand very, very slowly on his chest, slowly unbuttoning his torn shirt and agonizingly slowly pushing his hand in, only to slowly pull out an ID card that shimmered in blue light, the kami within the card agitated due to his injuries. "Take a look." Doshin spit a goblet of blood on the ground.

The card, as far as Akuta could tell, was legitimate, bearing both Soshuro mon as well as the personal mon of the lord magistrate.

Taking a look at the ID and noting the details, Akuta nodded.

"Well then, Shosuro-sama it is your lucky day. Obviously, you didn't want anyone seeing whatever the fuck that thing was and as far as I'm concerned, you did your absolute best in trying to apprehend it but it escaped. Our cooling friend here was an unfortunate casualty of circumstance and you suffered injuries in the line of duty from nobly facing the creature and not running like a frightened child, eh?"

He'll remove the blade from the Scorpion's throat and scoop up his sidearm. "I'll hold onto this for the time being though, if you don't mind. You'll have to forgive my caution, Shosuro-sama, but you're not in much of a position to fight and I wouldn't want someone to take your service weapon off of you. Can you walk, or am I going to be carrying you?"

"Something like that." Taiki muttered, spitting out another goblet of blood from his mouth. "Well. I wouldn't shoot me if I was you. You aren't murderer - yet." He added with a huff, caring little that the ronin held his sidearm. "Security is going to get here soon." The doshin did not explain how he knew that. "They might want to have a word with you. About that." he nodded at the wall where the creature had disappeared. "Since the other witness is..." Taiki glanced at Okuri's body. "Unfortunately no longer among us. Did you know the poor bastard?" Taiki figured that the man holding his gun in fact, did not know the person laying in a pool of blood. He was still alive himself after all. "There might be even some money in it for you." Akuta could hear some resentment in Taiki's tone. "Oh, I can walk..." Taiki would slowly and very carefully push himself up, leaning against the wall. The ronin had caught him good, a vicious gash on his back still bleeding. "Now, if you don't mind, I'd like to let my people know exactly where we are." Figuring that if the ronin was going to shoot him, he would have already done that, doshin now patting his pockets to locate his communicator.

"I wouldn't have aimed to knock you down if I wanted you dead, Shosuro-sama. Planned on hauling you in to the authorities for a nice little payday after you and your friend shot him," he says gesturing to the fallen ronin, "to death. Mugging and all that happens all the time and we're all here to keep the streets safer, after all." His deadpan delivery leaves much to be desired in the way of interpreting if he was being facetious or not for the final part.

"I'm well acquainted with security, so that shouldn't be a problem...and no, I didn't. Planned on seeing if he had any next of kin though. Probably has a holoslate or something. Poor bastard probably just trying to do the right thing and no good deed goes unpunished, but at least if he left anyone behind they should know."

As the doshin pushes himself up, he nods, waving a hand idly. "Yeah, go ahead."

"Best laid plans, eh." Taiki coughed, shaking his head. "You got a shitty luck, wolf. Or excellent, depending. Couldn't see you there, at all. Well, I suppose it looked like a mugging but well. Alas, can't say what we were doing here. You can guess, though." Akuta had seen the monster after all. Taiki was not entirely unreasonable, not least because the ronin held his gun. "Oh the other wolf? I mean, if you want." he shrugged. "It's a rough city for wolf." Ronin perished on the streets daily, the security caring little of what became of them. "The team's gonna pack him up, so if you want, you better to do it before they get there." The public image had the city security forces uncorrupt and aloof. In reality, many of the yoriki and doshin cooperated with organized crime to keep up appearances. " Alright..." Taiki picked up his communicator, reporting the general situation and his location, though did not mention the monster.

Flicking the blood off of his blade down in the darkness of the alleyway, Akuta frowns a bit and sheaths the blade. "I know enough to not ask questions when it comes to unofficially official business...and it is rough for wolves. Scraps from the table don't get too far."

Bending down and rifling through the possessions of the fallen Okuri, the bruise armed ronin checks to see what he has, just to see if there is anything of note that might trace him to someone else. Maybe a shitty apartment or a holoslate that might give some details about who he is...and his money, of course. Akuta may have been sympathetic, but the dead don't typically need liquid assets.

"Tell you what at least, Shosuro-sama...you're tougher than you look. Been plenty of scum who have found themselves in the trash heap after a strike like that."

When the footsteps of the security forces eventually got close enough that it wouldn't matter, Akuta would toss the sidearm back to the doshin. He had stuck around this long and if they were going to take him in or kill him, wasn't much he was going to be able to do about it. He'd resheathe his blade and wait.

"That's how the sembei crumbles." the injured doshin nodded, still leaning to the wall. In distance, sirens could be heard as the Scorpion patrol made its way to the scene. "Poor fucker just walked there. Don't know what he expected really. Suicide by doshin?" Taiki chuckled dryly. "Wouldn't be the first such case." Life on the streets could get harsh - even if one had lodgings in a temple. "Well. I try." he huffed. "In this line of profession, you either shoot first or you are dead." He limped towards the sword he had dropped - a blade far too short to be katana proper. Sometimes the doshin wore wakizashi to pass as commoners - and the short blade had its perks on the narrow alleys of the city.

Sometime later, the patrol would arrive, Taiki having explained the circumstances. The Scorpion officers would take down Akuta's contact information - as well as his fingerprints, just in case he happened to be a fugitive. Meanwhile, a medic that had hiked a ride started patching up Taiki, unceremoniously undressing the doshin to get access to his wounds.

"Hard to tell what's going on in the mind of another...but given his words before the nasty business, he probably thought that thing was a kid. And as for shoot first and ask questions later, I can understand that. Just have to make sure the thing you're shooting at will go down."

After the patrol arrives, Akuta gives the information requested and submits to the fingerprinting. They were on file anyway, so it didn't much matter to him. Once he got the go ahead, he'd take his leave, intent on figuring out just who this fallen ronin was.
