[Day 12 LA] Drinks On Me (Expecting)

[Yūrei]

Snip

Yūrei rubs the back of her neck and hopes the flush is just from her drink
"She uh, does love shouting about her girlfriend, several times, usually while holding my hand. It's...sweet? But she put up with me for long enough she's allowed to shout whatever she wants."
Sighing

"Thank you though. I hope it's a good thing, I'm just taking things slowly. A week isn't enough time for everything that's happened."
Raising an eyebrow
"How did Tsuyo-sama know anyway? I didn't even know until the surprise!"

[Usagi Rei]

Rei grinned at that. "Tsuyo-sama is a smart woman. She had me pretty well figured out. Or... to some extent." He chuckled. "Poked at me a bit for playing around, so to speak. You know, like you and I did." A quick smile at that.

Then he sighed. "I did get married once. I could again..." Rei looked out the window, then shook his head. "But it's complicated. Still. Unfortunately."

[Yūrei]

"Hey, we had fun. I have no regrets." She winks "You set a new standard. Although I've had better breakfasts....guess we all have our different strengths."
She glances over at him with some concern.

"Sounds like it. But hey, complicated doesn't mean it's over, or can't be fixed. Complicated just means...hard, I guess? It's the World of Dreams, we built it too be complicated."

[Usagi Rei]

Rei just shook his head, closing his eyes briefly. He took a deep breath, sighing just as deeply.

Then, shaking his head again, he looked back at Yurei with a smirk. "Oh? Well, I'll have to remember that. I should have taken you out for breakfast instead."

He flashed her a quick grin. "But, well, I'll leave that to Sakura. Besides, I find myself..." he pursed his lips, "-not fully at liberty either, actually."

[Yūrei]

Snip

"Oh yes, I love breakfasts!Lunches, dinners, brunches, morning teas, midnight snacks, nibbles. Take me out for any of these please."
Her look turns into something of a squint.

"Oh I see. Well, that just means it's important, right? Whatever you're doing? That just means your inner core of goodness and maturity is showing. So it's a good thing."
She pauses for a few moments, working out how to frame it.

"Is it about your...past relationship?"

Until the question, Rei smiled a bit. Then it fell away.

"No." He said, shaking his head. "That's the other thing. The complicated part that maybe can't be fixed." He sighed. "Sorry. It's not something I can talk about very much. It's..." He grimaced, glancing around. "Not for public discussion."

[Yūrei]

Snip

"I understand."
She nudges his shoulder gently with her own.

"You go do what you need to do Rei-sama. Don't have to tell me anything. By Scorpion standards you've already been too open and honest already."
She's content to stand in silence for a few moments. Before, idly

"So...what was the deal with all those pirates anyway? They had a bio-weapon? Someone turned into a meatball?"

[Usagi Rei]

Rei managed a wan smile as she nudged him, although her words made him grimace a little. "I know." He said grimly. Hopefully his lips weren't too loose...

Shaking his head, he came back to the present. "Yeah. The True Scions." Rei pitched his voice a little lower. "Nasty bunch. You hear some rumors about them from time to time, plus what's crossed my desk. But seems like they were into some nasty stuff from a while back." He shrugged. "I'm not surprised. Lots of stuff just below the surface, here."

"In hindsight, maybe leaving the lawless blasted wasteland with a thin barrier to the realm of slaughter sitting in the middle of a major city was a bad idea."
Cocking her head
"Or maybe it's to drive property prices down, you know what the scorpion can be like, 6D Shogi. So these guys were looking to loot some stuff from Eriko-sama's family history? That explains whe she wanted to stop them. And they were just pirates, right? Not Mantis-pirates?"
