[Day 7 - Mid Evening] Hot Shot!

[Matsu Eriko]

She chuckled at that. "Well, don't take my statement too literally, Nishida-sama. I'm sure you'll have a way of getting around without being on your feet all the time. I suppose we might just be scouring the slums for a bit. It's likely important that we have to make sure we aren't doing too much that we get the attention of either the Scorpion or the True Scions. I'm sure either one is just going to land us in a lot of trouble. I'd take my chances with the Scorpion but even then, probably not going to end well."

[Miya Nishida]

"I can handle the scorpion in case of emergency." He pointed to his mon, "It's not a guaranteed free pass, but I can flex my muscles a bit," he said.

[Matsu Eriko]

"Well, I'd rather not entirely fall back on that. It's a big city and there are always bigger fish, they say, right?" She gave a shrug on the matter. "Besides, anything that would save you the paper is something that even you'd appreciate, I bet! I can understand sticking your neck out for the greater good of the Imperial family but understand you don't and shouldn't owe me that much, Nishida-sama. But yes, thank you."

[Miya Nishida]

Nishida looked very serious for a moment, "I gave Akemi my word, all items in our social contract were clear: to keep the punishment for you and the rest of the crew as low as possible. In that, I failed. I not only harmed you, I failed to honor the contract. I'm doing this for you guys as much as I'm doing this for myself." He straightened his glasses and put on his calm face again.

"So shall we practice our shooting skills a bit then? My hand-eye coordination is terrible, but maybe I can hit a Kyuden gate, eh?

[Matsu Eriko]

"Well, I wasn't refusing in the slightest, Nishida-sama," she smiled faintly at him. "I guess it's my roundabout way of saying 'last chance' before you know, you get involved in something you might want to back out of. That said, it's not like Akemi, Shion, Koseki, and Akihiko weren't able to live normal lives after what happened. So, I'm likely splitting hairs here."

"Oh, sure. Stance is the easy part, I think reaction is a whole different matter. Of course, you're not exactly going to build that muscle memory in your system until you practice. So, how do you typically go about shooting then?" She brought up curiously as she put on her earmuffs again, taking a step back so that Nishida could get to shooting.

He also took out his earmuffs and explained before putting them on "Well, I usually simply shoot" he said with a shrug, put on the earmuffs, took his sidearm, pulled it fixed a target and fired a few shots.

It was quite obvious that Nishida knew how to use it, but his reaction time, his stance, the way he aimed, all gave an indication of how little he actually had to handle the weapon.

"Ah, well..." Eriko said at first as she thought to herself about how to go about telling him. "You've got the foundations down, that's for sure. The last thing you want to happen is to have a weapon go off close to your ear. Let me tell you, that'll ruin your day really fast. Probably the best thing to keep in mind is to stick to cover. You'll certainly get more shots in if they don't shoot you first, plus you may get to draw a bead on them."

He nodded and listened carefully to Eriko. "So the 4X have meaning here? Explore you surroundings, Expand your firing range, Exploit the enemies' weaknesses and then exterminate?" he asked with the brain of a man who thought in macro instead of micro.

[Matsu Eriko]

"The 4X's?" She asked with a few blinks before she considered where he got this from. "Is that something they teach you over at Yasuki business school or something? I guess all those things are right. Kind of cute. I personally like to be more pragmatic when it comes to combat. Just stay smart and wing it. I guess it's easy to break down all the possibilities on paper but then you get fungi zombies thrown at you. The rules of gunfighting go out the window there. I don't think any shooting course prepares you for that."

You don't know the 4X?" he asked in surprise after letting Eriko finish, "The 4X stand for explore, expand, exploit and exterminate. Explore the markets that exist, expand into then, exploit them to the best of your knowledge and exterminate the competition" he explained in return for the Firearms course.

"Improvising is every yasuki's second discipline," he bragged, "especially when you're in danger," he said, chuckling.

[Matsu Eriko]

Eriko narrowed her eyes in thought at the quick Yasuki lesson. "I can't say I did but I do now, Nishida-sama. Thank you. I can't say that they've expected us to dive into the money markets as a Witch Hunter. I suppose if there were more maho-tsukai merchants then we could consider using predatory buying tactics to eliminate their share of the markets...but something tells me that even if that was the case, we wouldn't quite resort to buying them out." She laughed at that thought.

"...but I'm getting the sense that you've had some pretty bad runs yourself." She nodded a few times at that.

[Miya Nishida]

"Everyone plays their part as best they can" he replied, smiling "There was something,... bumpy in my youth that made me rarely leave the house without a bodyguard and gun" he agreed "The Green Carp has been a dangerous place at times."

[Matsu Eriko]

"Ah, yes, the Green Carp." She nodded a few times at that, thinking back on it. "I've been there a few times. It's kind of where I broke in my new shoes before I was sent to the rest of the galaxy. I'm sure I didn't go into the same neighbourhoods as you did."

She turned to give a glance at his shadow for a moment. "And here, I figured it was just standard procedure when it comes to someone handling a lot of koku. Then again, I know there are shady characters when money is involved."

[Miya Nishida]

"You'd be surprised" he grinned, "But yes my father had enough enemies, which is why my protection was secured early on, but as it happens that doesn't stop the desperate and insane" he shrugged, "But wouldn't we rather we concentrate on training? I wouldn't, as they say, be caught with my pants down" he asked.

Eriko bobbed her head as they returned to practice. "Of course! Shooting muscle memory doesn't develop in one session. Kind of wish these guns would have a bit more kick to them to help that...Anyway..."
