Rei grinned at that. "Of course. Nothing for nothing, eh? I understand. You'll do well here; and the Kuni do have a reputation, after all."

He looked at her, eyes suddenly narrowed. "Still, fine, set my charms aside. Let's talk straight. I don't know what the Kuni think of the Hare, but we've got some background in common. So if it's anything along those lines, I hope you'll let me know." His expression was serious. "And if it's something else, well..." He shrugged.

Then Rei sighed, stepping away from the door. "Go ahead. I'll be here." He said.

[Kuni Koyuki]

Koyuki walks to the door while Rei is talking, and stops there until he finishes. Once he does however, she doesn't enter right away. Instead, digging into her pocket she digs out her communicator and walks over to him. Placing the device in his hands she looks up to meet his eye, "I'm always happy to work with the Hare, if it's needed, Usagi-sama. Connect us, I'll call you- you call me. We'll settle any problems if we can," she says, gives one last look and then walks back. Ear protection being put in her ears already Rei didn't really have time to say much as she opened the door and walked inside.

Heading back to her station behind the glass, Koyuki took some time and made sure her gun was clean and also completely unloaded. Brief maintenance at the counter before shoving it into her holster and walking back out. All in all, it took something of about five minutes for her to return.

Rei blinked, watching Koyuki. This was certainly a sign of trust. Or a test. Didn't matter. Rei very carefully entered his information into her comm before pulling up her information to put into his. He was good with electronics; it all took less than a minute. Glancing back up, looking through the glass, Rei frowned again, even as he closed her device, letting the lock re-engage.

When Koyuki came out, Rei was leaning against the other wall, a lit cigarette in one hand, the pack in the other. Between the ventilation of the room and the surprisingly limited scent from the cigarette, almost slightly spicy, the air was still fairly clear.

Wordlessly, Rei held out the pack, offering her one. Her comm unit was resting on the counter.

With the ear protection taken off, and returned back to its original receptacle she gives Rei a look. Walking over she takes a cigarette from the center, meets his eye, "You know, you shouldn't be smoking in here," and then promptly slides a lighter out of her own back pocket. Flicking it open she lights the end of her cigarette, held between her first two fingers delicately, and takes a quick initial puff before settling it down by her waist. Lighter sliding right back into original position with a deft movement.

Rei snorted laughter. "Well. Put it on the list of things that I do that I shouldn't." He said, still chuckling softly.

He took a long drag, then exhaled slowly. "This planet... I don't know." He shook his head. "You're new here. What do you think about it?"

[Kuni Koyuki]

Turning from him, she moves to retrieve her communicator. Resting the cigarette in-between her lips while she checks to see his contact information entered within. Satisfied, she slips the communicator back into her pocket. Pausing there to take a drag from the cigarette, a long exhale she pushes the smoke out from between her lips with a slight pattern to it.

"I think that it is a city with a lot of work needing doing," she says, holding the cigarette out to the side and tapping it twice neurotically. "I do not know what to say yet, it has made an impression but I am still learning about it," she says, as she turns her back to the nearest wall and leans against it.

Rei chuckled. "You're not wrong. Believe me, if you're in security, you're gonna be busy."

He, too, tapped away some ash, although a lot more casually. "You work this kind of place before?" His eyes flicked up and down. "You have a military look; I suppose that's not a surprise."

[Kuni Koyuki]

"I've been in Crab space the past few years. After I was released from the corps I took some time to recover and then made my rounds tagging on to different diplomatic groups across Crab space. I suppose they thought I had done a good enough job that it was time to move me somewhere a bit more volatile, and see how I cut my teeth on it. I'm looking forward to the challenge," she said, and with that there was a dangerous look in her eye. One that almost certainly conveyed that she was a woman that was more than up to that challenge.

"You, Usagi-sama?" she asks, a raise to her brow as the cigarette comes up to her lip once more. That light glow from the end lighting up the vibrant red and white of her face paint just a little bit more than expected of a typical face.

Rei chuckled. "I bet." He said, flashing her a quick grin. Yeah, he knew the type. Like the one he saw in the mirror every morning while shaving.

"World of Dreams was my first diplomatic posting. My request. I wanted a challenge." He blew smoke as he sighed heavily. "Believe me, you'll find what you're looking for. I love it, but this place is as much nightmare as dream sometimes."

He shrugged. "Sometimes I wonder if I'd have been better off jumping out of transports with my cousins... that's a challenge. But no going back, eh?"

[Kuni Koyuki]

"Really?" she asks, not leaving the cigarette far from her mouth. Measuring him with a glance she couldn't see it herself. Seemed like the kind of guy that was born to this kind of world, and perhaps maybe even this kind of work. Cocksure folk like him always seemed to filter into security positions, it was like having a flashy attitude was part of the job. At least higher up, folk on the ground even more often had a gruff attitude and responded to 'hello' with a loud guttural throaty sound that almost made you think a hog was about to charge you from around the corner. Perpetually stained with coffee, those types.

Rei squinted at her, taking a long drag, blowing it out again. "Yeah, really. Jump out of a transport is a clear objective. 'Assist with furthering the goals of the Hare while maintaining our existing relationships and fostering new ones by any legal means required' is not." He chuckled roughly, the cigarette smoke affecting his voice.

He shook his head. "Guess it's not too late. I could always quit." Smirking, he held up his cigarette. Presumably his meaning was clear.

[Kuni Koyuki]

Meeting his gaze for a moment. Koyuki ruminated a moment. Memories coming back, scanning through them to find the right ones. Cigarette to her lips as she did she took a long drag, the heat entering her mouth, sucking down her throat, and finally tickling her lungs with the warmth. Briefly reminding her of the first time she ever took one in. Heat rising to her memory. "My boots hit the ground, it was dry and cracked land. Scanning for miles around there was nothing. We were fives of us, and we had a young.. Hiruma I think, might have been a Yasuki. It's hard to remember, you'd think you'd always remember the first but I never could. I was still new myself, everything was new."

"That planet was dry, cracked with heat, and the sun beat down on us through our suits so strong that within half a minute my undersuit was sticking to my body like glue. We had our task, it was easy and right out in front of us. Never stopped to think about how dangerous cracked ground could be. We lost that boy when the ground collapsed out from under his feet, always the first to lead the way. Still remember the way he smiles, actually," she chuckles, shaking her head." Taking a quick drag from her cigarette. "It's a straight forward kind of job, you're right." She taps out the cigarette on the ground in front of her. "And that wasn't even dropping into active combat," she suppresses the chuckle.

[Usagi Rei]

Rei inclined his head, respect for the dead. He took her meaning. And yet... "A good reminder that what you don't know can kill you."

He flicked ash from his cigarette, eyes narrowed as he looked at her. And then widened as something clicked into place. But that was all.

A few moments passed, and he sighed. "Okay. Well. If there's something you need help on, use my contact info. Or don't. Up to you. But I wasn't bullshitting you why I gave it to you, or my training."

[Kuni Koyuki]

"Just.. don't think that the other job is easier, just because it's more straightforward." Tapping out her own cigarette again she leans off the wall and takes a few steps into the center of the room. Notably, toward the door. Turning, she looks back to Rei. "Wanna walk out with me?" she asks, as simple as that.

[Usagi Rei]

Rei tilted his head, looking at her. His expression was thoughtful; no smile this time.

But he nodded. "Yeah. Alright." Another moment, studying her, and he pushed off of his wall. Tapping out his own cigarette, he moved to join her.

[Kuni Koyuki]

On their way out the door, Koyuki lead the way first and let Rei climb up the steps behind her. Off toward their lefthand side lay the entrance and hall by the dojo. Off toward their right, the entrance to the Honor's Lesson campus. Shifting in that direction she took another drag from her cigarette and walked slowly until her caught up to her side.

"I'll give you a call," she said, smoke spilling out of her mouth. Blowing the rest out after the sentence, "If anything comes across my plate that I need a hand on. You can do the same. Professional courtesy."

[Usagi Rei]

Rei flicked his doused cigarette into a disposal unit. "Okay. I will." Slowly, he inclined his head. For a moment, he seemed to struggle with what to say, then: "Fortunes go with you, Kuni-san."

His pale eyes continued to study her, even as his mind worked at the pieces, known and unknown alike.

[Kuni Koyuki]

Koyuki nodded, gave Rei a look, and then walked off. Taking one last drag from the cigarette in her hand before promptly discarding it in an appropriate receptacle. Only then would she take the most direct path toward walking out of sight, and off to her next task for the day.
