Rei shrugged, smiling as he stepped forward. "Well, changing weapons midround is bound to throw anyone off." He said sympathetically. No sense in poking a Lion right in her pride.

And so he stepped forward, aimed, and... the shot landed, nearly atop Reki's shot, but a bare few millimeters farther out. Rei stared at it a moment, flushing just a little.

Clearing his throat, he stepped back, smiling ruefully. "I'm not sure what I said to suffer karma like that..." He murmured.

[Utaku Yesugen]

Yesugen wasn't the sort to comment mid-competition. Just as well, the Utaku made no sound in battle beyond those necessary.

Even still, her next shot didn't match her first. Despite how she fared in the competition, to fail against herself didn't bode well for her pride.

Reki winced at the Hare's shot.

"That's....rough." She said, perhaps the problem was the pistols and not the shooters.

Then the Akodo watched the Unicorn fire a shot just fine.

Stepping back up, Reki aimed her final shot. A respectable hit.

Rei fired his last shot. It was an unexceptional hit.

He stepped back, grimacing lightly. "Well. Perhaps I am a bit rusty." He said, a touch ruefully.

[Utaku Yesugen]

Yesugen glanced over at their shots for a brief moment. No distractions. It only mattered if those shots were aimed at her; allied, even if temporarily, weren't a concern to her.

Nor was this a warzone. She needed to remind herself about that too.

Nonetheless, her training dictated that she remain quiet during her final shot, the rating between the other two. She pursed her lips then ejected the magazine. The first strike is often the most important to incapacitate someone. That was her main solace.

Once out of her own head, she turned to the others and bowed. "Thank you for the opportunity to practice."

[Akodo Reki]

"It seems Utaku-san has provided the most consistent shooting today, even if my first was the best of the lot," Reki raises an eyebrow at the last shot. "As I said most of my fighting has been done at the map table and not the field."

She looked at the two, "I did take it with a rifle while you both used pistols, however, so if you wish to disqualify it I will abide the decision."

"Regardless it seems Usagi-san is buying someone a drink."

Reki returned the bow, "It was my pleasure Utaku-san, I expected no less from your clan. My wi..." She stopped herself there, frowning before continuing. "My wife was from your clan, though of the Shinjo." Her smile returned though it did little to hide the sudden sadness in her eyes, "An excellent shot as well."

[Usagi Rei]

Smiling, Rei shook his head. "No, that wouldn't be fair. It was the best shot, regardless. Besides, I already recommended that you visit the Golden Frog. So much the better for me to redeem my word by buying you a drink." The Hare didn't seem too put out by this... the Akodo was rather attractive, after all.

But his trained eye certainly wasn't going to miss a reaction like that. The smile disappeared, Rei glanced away, lips twisting... and then he looked back, smiling again. It happened so fast one might easily miss it.

It wouldn't do to push, not here, not like this. Instead, Rei mentally filed it away.

"Very impressive shooting, both of you." He said, his voice gentle.

[Utaku Yesugen]

"Regardless of victor, you should purchase the drink for Akodo-san," Yesugen said with a polite nod. Liquor wasn't entirely her thing and tea didn't seem quite the same sentiment.

The reaction, well... Yesugen was a lot less tactful than the Hare. "A Shinjo then." She nodded along. "I would be quite surprised indeed if an Utaku married out instead. It's good, anyhow, that a union could be forged between our two clans."

[Akodo Reki]

"Very well then...the Golden Fog was it?" Reki relented, not wishing to press the issue further.

The Akodo looked at the Utaku a second and nodded, "That was the idea when the marriage was arranged, yes. Unfortunately I believe little save a few marriages came from it. Still small steps forward is still forward."

Rei cleared his throat. "Golden Frog, actually." He smiled at her. "If you give me your comm info, we can work it out?" He pulled out his own device, a sleek black one, if a few years old.

On the subject of marriage though, for once it seemed like he didn't have anything to say. His expression was polite but just the slightest bit tense as he looked back and forth between the two ladies.

Yesugen looked at the offered comm info with pursed lips. This man is rather bold, isn't he? She closed her eyes and shook her head, a small smirk betraying her feelings.

"I do wish for an auspicious future between our two clans," she said. "We will see if my clan deems a Lion spouse to be suitable for me. Of course, that will require so much logistics..."

Reki eyed the Hare's comm and then pulled out her own, the exchange of information was quick. "Frog....right...my apologies. That should do it, Usagi-san."

"Naomi-chan did not object to a Lion spouse." Her smile grew wistful, "I can provide information for the nakado who worked to provide my own marriage. If you wish."
