[D4LA] Keeping Sharp (OPEN)

[Usagi Rei]

Rei had been putting in a fair number of hours at the range, lately. But what about his other skills? A quick hand with a gun, he'd always relaxed a bit on the others. Perhaps it was time to try them

Wearing his usual clothing (after all, if there was a situation, that's what he would be wearing), he stretched, limbering up. As he did, he swept the practice hall with his gaze, surveying the available equipment. What should he be using today?

[Taiguno]

As the Usagi surveyed the equipment available to him, a monk in minimalist robes enters the dojo for some training of his own. He bows to Rei but does not interfere with his selections or attempt to draw his focus for now. Instead he finds a place where he can begin some warmup exercises in preparation for some unarmed kata.

[Usagi Rei]

Rei acknowledged the other man, returning his bow. "Good afternoon, Monk-san." He said, his tone friendly.

For his part, Rei seemed to be doing some sort of footwork exercises, moving quickly from place to place, side to side. Even as he did though, Rei would sometimes glance over at the monk, his expression curious.

[Taiguno]

"Good afternoon," he replies as he starts off his exercises. After finishing his first kata, he takes a moment to refocus himself.

He looks to the Usagi, "This one is Taguno, devotee of Uzuki the Immaculate. A pleasure to meet you."

After another bow, he begins doing some stretches while trying to center his focus on the exercises ahead. "Good footwork is important to controlling the flow of battle."

[Usagi Rei]

Rei paused a moment, between one hop and the next. "It is." Rei said, looking at the monk with a smile. "All manner of combat, as it turns out. Hare are trained to use it in combat... I met an Akodo who I expect would tell me it applies to troop movements.

And then he bowed. "Rei. Usagi Rei." He introduced himself.

He started to move again, but then paused. "Uzuki the Immaculate?"

[Taiguno]

"Footwork applies to every form of movement from what I've seen. It's very important to dancing I'm told," he says with a smirk, before it fades while he gives a short explanation of Uzuki.

"Uzuki-no-kami is the one of the Dark Fortunes of Wisdom, the fortune of Perfection. So, anytime we seek perfection with practice and training, it pleases her. It is not an uncommon curiosity on this planet from what I can see. Very different from Dark Forge where everyone knows her name and almost all artisans show at least some devotion to her."

[Usagi Rei]

Rei chuckled. "I wouldn't know. I don't dance." But so many people seemed to be suggesting it to him lately..."

For a moment, Rei's gaze on the monk grew a little sharper. But only for a moment. "I see." He said. "That makes sense. So... are you local then? Or... no. It sounds like you're not?"

[Taiguno]

"Nope. I grew up on Dark Forge, raised by the Brotherhood there at the temple to Uzuki-no-kami. I've been here for less than a week. What about yourself?" he responds.

[Usagi Rei]

"Ah..." Understanding lit Rei's eyes. "I see. Myself, I've been here a bit more than two years, now."

He began to exercise again, the quick hopping footwork. "What do you think of it so far?" He managed to gasp out.

[Taiguno]

"It's definitely different from what I am used to. A lot more fun stuff to do around here. And the people are much more varied and interesting."

[Usagi Rei]

"What sort of activities do you enjoy, Monk-san?" Rei paused his exercises, his expression curious. What did monks do, anyway? What could they do? Especially here, on World of Dreams?

[Taiguno]

"Personally, I love watching live performances when I can. Most of the time for me, that means street performances, but they're great a lot of the time. And you? What do you enjoy?"
