"Good work, Nari-chan!" he cheered. The Detective gave a n excited yelp in agreement.

Kiyoshi continued his futile attacks, while looking for other combat options.

...It seems that Seki was being more than facetious on the matter. There were no real means for any guests to access the 120th floor without being granted explicit access by the Scorpions at the kyuden or hacking their way in. Seki might have been hoping that Sakura would snoop around the top of the tower and would be suddenly taken by a sudden gust. That would be an accident, truly.

When Sakura would find herself back in the main hallway, it seemed everyone in the office had been preoccupied with figuring of what was happening with the feed and attempting to rectify the problem. Some members of the Scorpion security forces made their way out, perhaps planning some secret operation to liberate the transmitter from a potential spine drake infestation.

Meanwhile...


Bayushi Kotone

Kotone was seen standing in front of the recording studio with the words 'LIVE' glowing on the sign.


Nari-chan

"Nuuuu! You're getting hurt, Kitsune-sama!" Nari-chan yelled in panic as the ogre continued its assault on Kiyoshi, who as apparently tanking all of its attention.

"Uhm! Uhm! Let me try something!" With that, Nari-chan's avatar seemed to poise herself with her axe raised up in the air, going to an over-exaggerated attach stance as she wound up for her next attack. Her avatar would blink a few times, indicating that she was ready!

"Kyyaaah!" She released her swing to drop a powerful attack on the ogre, staggering it back. "That did something!"

Something would appear as Kiyoshi was taking more damage...

Players may attempt to parry an attack from any enemy! This is the same as attacking but uses a skill check of Defense/Reflexes against TN15. Succeeding will do no damage but waste a hit from the enemy. Likewise, failing will cause the blocker to lose 1 HP (if the enemy hadn't already dealt damage this round).

[Hotaru Sakura]

Sakura sighed.

"What a bitch." She muttered under her breath. She watched the security team move, she tried to catch some snippets of any talk, and debated shadowing them, when she saw the other Scorpion.

"Ah, Bayushi-sama, everything alright?" She asked in a friendly way.

Kiyoshi switched tactics just in time to avoid the ogre's next strike.

"Very nice, Nari-chan. You're strong." he grinned. "Nari-chan, Ogre's Bane, Hero of the Kitsune!"

Even as he cheered her on, the Fox looked around the theater, trying to understand what else might be happening.

Some things are being said around the office but Sakura, unfortunately, couldn't catch much of them. There was certainly a share of turning things on and turning things off.


Bayushi Kotone

"Hotaru-san, so glad to see you again," she said with a very polite smile. "I thought you were with Bayushi-sama and Kitsune-sama. And the Detective, of course. As you see, everything is splendid. We're just preoccupied. Please don't mind the activity.

She could lie successfully but there was much evidence to the contrary around with people moving about. Of course, with the virtual video feed being affected for all to see.


Nari-chan

Nari-chan giggled as the tide was turned against the ogre and cheered with her hands thrown in the air. "Wooo! Wooo! Hah! Hah! I'm OGRE'S BANE! Watch out, ogre! You're going down for hurting my friend! Okay, Kitsune-sama, I'm going to try again."

Adopting the same stance, Nari-chan's avatar wound up for another powerful attack and unleashed a powerful swing that cut deep into the digital ogre. The ogre let out a resounding groan before dropping to the ground and then fading out of existence.

"Yaaay! I did it, Kitsune-sama! I saved you! I saved us! It's like I'm a natural Crab or something! Rawr! Fear me!" She would declare proudly before breaking out into a giggle.

"Bayushi-sama...people can't see Nari-chan from the pixel kami." She sighed. "And there's a security team gathering in the building. I am not dumb, despite all evidence otherwise. Allow me to help. What in Benten's tits is going on and where?! I just want this to work!"

[Kitsune Kiyoshi]

"Thank you, Nari-chan, my hero." His avatar bowed. "I wish I had a way to reward you for your bravery."

[Boogiepop]

Bayushi Kotone

"The Scorpion Clan have this well under control, Hotaru-san." She said firmly on the matter while crossing her arms.

Kotone did soon offer her smile of encouragement. "However, if you're really curious, you're more than welcome to climb up to the 120th floor to investigate. I'm sure we'd appreciate a hand there."

She might have been high-fiving herself for that original joke.

"Unless anything happens, I'm staying put and you probably should too, especially if you're representing Kitsune-sama. He might need the support."

...Was there something Bayushi Seki might need to speak to Bayushi Kotone about?


Nari-chan

"Aw! You don't have to reward me, Kitsune-sama!" She beamed happily at the offer. "You spending time with me today and being my friend is rewarding enough! I'm also glad that you're okay. That ogre just got what it deserved anyway! You can count on me! Ogre's Bane!"

With that, she saluted Kiyoshi in both her v-personality and avatar form.

"We should probably get some sleep now...Totally just as friend sleep!" She giggled on an anxious note.

[Hotaru Sakura]

"Ah, I see.....Oh, yes, I think Bayushi-sama mentioned she might need you." She leaned in close. "You know, she's pretty distraught, so having someone competent might help her there. I mean, I can see Nari-chan's code from here. A bit scandalous, if I may say."

[Kitsune Kiyoshi]

"Of course!" Kiyoshi agreed. "Into the cabin where we can keep each other safe and warm."

The Detective returned the salute.

[Boogiepop]

Bayushi Kotone

Kotone narrowed her eyes on her. "...Are you sure about that?"

"Ahhh...of course!" She giggled with a blush on her cheeks through the static. With that, she quickly scurried into the cabin so that they could activate the sleep prompt.

"...Wait right here, I'm going to see what Bayushi-sama needs. I'll be right back, Hotaru-san." And with that, she walked off...

Using the opportunity of deception,and knowing she'll be probably kicked out after this, Sakura opened the door to slink in and....

Do a thing?

"Ahhh...of course!" She giggled with a blush on her cheeks through the static. With that, she quickly scurried into the cabin so that they could activate the sleep prompt.

Kiyoshi's avatar followed. The real Kiyoshi glanced around, wondering where Sakura had run off to.

[Boogiepop]

The double doors would slide open for Sakura for her to enter in. It might have been a slight oversight on the studio's doors to have them automated for anyone but they did see a large influx of non-studio personnel today to be giving them each a personal access card. Another set of doors would open at the end of a short hallway and Sakura would be greeted with darkness...

...At least initially. It seemed it was a darkened studio with several people working the switchboards for audio and video, ensuring the sound synced in with the v-personality as well as their movements. They were overseeing a large glass room that seemed to have black and neon panels, calibrated to follow the movements of the occupant inside, who herself was at a desk similar to Koyuki and playing the game herself...

It seemed Sakura wasn't found out, at least immediately, everyone's attention was on their equipment as they tried to cut off the interference or perhaps already got to work to salvage this in post-production. They would have to take Nari-chan's voice recording and layer it over some animation done afterwards. It might look less natural than the live recording but the Scorpions are expert artists in fudging things enough to make it convincing to the audience after several centuries.

Sakura could get closer and determine the identity of the person inside...

The game screen would fade to black and they would return back to where they started. It was now daytime again, although the game seemed to feature some randomized weather events and there was a slight overcast that set a grey ominous tone with the day.

Noticeably, Nari's feed seemed to have grown worst, which had a few technicians scrambling on the production floor to fix the issue. There were some murmurs that someone could be jumping on their connection but for what ends? Hacking?

Of course, that would prove to be the case later on in the day.

A new notice appeared for the players of the game.

In addition to their HP, each player has 5 Vitality Points!
• For each day no food is eaten, players lose 2 Vitality Points.
• If players have 0 Vitality Points, they will begin to lose 1 Hit Point per day.
• If players have full Vitality Points, any food they ingest afterwards will heal them 1 Hit Point until they reach their maximum Hit Points.
• To find food, players spend one of their 5 daily actions rolling a Hunting (Survival)/Perception or Lore: Nature/Intelligence skill check at TN15. On success, they find one food to grant 1 Vitality Point and an extra for each successful raise called.
• Nari-chan and Kitsune Kiyoshi both currently have 3/5 Vitality Points.

Nari-chan

"Ouuuaaahhhh," Nari-chan yawned in a cute fashion as she pretended to wake up from a long sleep. "Good morning, Kitsune-sama! We survived the night! No more ogres to bother us after I showed that one who's boss! Hehe!"

Nari-chan looked around her surroundings and noticed the game tip that popped up. "Huh? Hm...Oh! It seems like we need to eat in this game! I do like eating, yum! Yum!" She smiled eagerly while patting her stomach.

"Hm, I guess there aren't any ramen places around here...What do you think we can eat around here? What do you usually eat when you go camping? Do you bring a bento or forage for berries with Detective-san? Ehh?" She looked at him curiously.

[Bayushi Mariko]

Sakura would see on her side from the studio...

"Ouuuaaahhhh," Mariko would yawn and stretch in a rather exaggerated fashion. She wasn't exactly speaking in her own voice either but one that was slightly more animated and purposely cutesy. "Good morning, Kitsune-sama! We survived the night! No more ogres to bother us after I showed that one who's boss! Hehe!"

She looked up and around the large room, perhaps acting out like she was searching about before looking at the game on the large holo screen in front of her. "Huh? Hm...Oh! It seems like we need to eat in this game! I do like eating, yum! Yum!" Mariko would then follow up the gesture by patting her stomach.

"Hm, I guess there aren't any ramen places around here...What do you think we can eat around here? What do you usually eat when you go camping? Do you bring a bento or forage for berries with Detective-san? Ehh?" Mariko would ask into the screen, the surrounding cameras and the room's sensors easily picking up on her expression.

[Kitsune Kiyoshi]

"I hope you slept well, Nari-chan." he smiled. "Usually, I would look for berries and other edible plants. If I couldn't find any, I might try hunting ir fishing."

He still glanced around the theater a bit. It was clear there was something was wrong and he hoped Sakura was alright. But, they hadn't cut away yet. They show was still continuing and he needed to maintain his participation.

"Let me show you."

"Whoooa." Sakura was amazed. IT looked neat and...Mariko!

She jumped up and down and squeed silently, but didn't want to alert anyone that she snuck in. The feed seemed to be bad but she wasn't sure if anything could be done.

For now, she decided to try and stay and watch a bit.

Everyone in the v-personaity studio seemed preoccupied with correcting the issue with the feed but it seemed that they were slowly getting things back in order...


Nari-chan

"Ooooh, wow. Good idea! I did see some bushes with berries around here while I was chopping down trees. There were all sorts of different ones and look like you've found some! Hm! You seem to be gaining vitality, that's good! You took some damage from that ogre earlier!" She giggled happily in good spirits.

Nari-chan attempted to do the same and found some berries that seemed to end up losing Vitality Points instead when she ate them. She is aghast at what is happening, blinking with wide eyes. "Ah-wha...WHAT?! What's happening?! I'm dying!!!"

Of course, Mariko put the extra jitters into her control stick for extra dramatic effect.
