D7 - Tiger 18th

+++Thought for the Day+++
Knowledge is half the battle.

Weather

The morning is unusually warm and the day even warmer, meaning that the beaches and gardens fill with samurai seeking to escape the heat. To manage the increased demand for electricity, power is cut from select habitation districts. Winds pick up as the sun sets and the temperatures drop, meaning that the night is pleasantly warm.

Kisei is waxing crescent.
Hakusei is waxing gibbous.

Playing today at Once Upon A Theatre in Horogai mall...

The Kitten Game
Desperate and destitute people such as heimen, ronin, and disgraced samurai are secretly recruited by a secret society and given a chance to fix their life. They are given the opportunity to play a series of games where the winner will be ultimately be granted a massive amount of koku. Unfortunately for them, the games turn out to be played with life and death as participants are systematically eliminated to narrow down the participants. Ronin father struggles to keep his friends and allies through the cutthroat competition in hopes of becoming the ultimate winner.

The righteous need not cower before the drumbeat of human progress. Though the song of yesterday fades into the challenge of tomorrow, the Fortunes still watch and judge us. Evil lurks in the datalinks as it lurked in the alleys of yesteryear. But it was never the alleys that were evil.

Scorpion1: So the old wolf's having a retirement party tomorrow.
Scorpion2: Sounds like you won't be missing him?
Scorpion1: Can't say I will. Just the other week, he had this meek new Shosuro girl caned. Because her report wasn't satisfactory.
Scorpion2: Ouch. You can't lead people like that.
Scorpion1: Yogo-sama had his own ideas.
Scorpion2: Well, good riddance.
Scorpion1: The ronin working for us are throwing a party too.
Scorpion2: They are happy to see him go?
Scorpion1: Really happy. *chuckle*

Scorpion1: So Yakumo?
Scorpion2: That Spider songstress with questionable tastes and the stamina of Hida bushi?
Scorpion1: Yeah, her.
Scorpion2: Who did she sleep with now?
Scorpion1: Probably no-one.
Scorpion2: Probably?
Scorpion1: Yeah. It looks like she thinks that this Yoritomo heiress sucks.
Scorpion2: Maybe she stole his guy? One of them? Two of them?

Scorpion1: So Yakumo?
Scorpion2: Who this time?
Scorpion1: Probably no-one.
Scorpion2: Right. So what did she do now?
Scorpion1: She is apparently really into Scorpion metal?
Scorpion2: Can't blame her, Iron Shojo is pretty sick!

Scorpion1: Man, those Crab.
Scorpion1: Another two ronin found dead in a ditch.
Scorpion2: Fortunes, what do they do with them.
Scorpion1: So, there's this rumor.
Scorpion2: Uh-huh.
Scorpion1: That the Kuni are experimenting with them!
Scorpion2: Poor bastards.

Scorpion1: So Yakumo?
Scorpion2: Yeah?
Scorpion1: She sucks.
Scorpion2: Who is she sucking now?
Scorpion1: Herself!
Scorpion2: How does she do that?
Scorpion1: No, I mean that her performance sucked.
Scorpion2: Oooh. That sort of sucking.

Scorpion1: So, Usagi Drip. They are a thing.
Scorpion2: You mean Usagi Drop.
Scorpion1: Yeah, them.
Scorpion2: How do you find them?
Scorpion1: Pretty cool, except that one boy?
Scorpion2: Which one?
Scorpion1: Hinata.

Scorpion1: What do you think of Soshi Kazumi?
Scorpion2: That she just sucks? No talent, no skill. I give her D+ for skimpy outfit.
Scorpion1: Harsh.
Scorpion2: You know what's harsh? Her voice.

Heimin1: I hear that the Crab miners only work 10 hour shifts.
Heimin2: Really now.
Heimin1: I mean, I still wouldn't want to be a Crab.
Heimin2: Me neither.
Heimin1: 10 hours sounds really good, though.
Heimin2: Yes, yes it does.

Scorpion1: Are you excited for Sole Survivor today?
Scorpion2: Hard pass, I think I'm just going to skip this one. I don't need to get my ankle sprained by some tryhard.
Scorpion1: You're really going to skip this one? It only happens every month!
Scorpion2: It's not quite the same anymore ever since they banned squibs and people started dressing up in all sorts of weird outfits. School uniforms, beach fashions, bear costumes...
Scorpion1: And, what's wrong with that?
Scorpion2: It feels too much like a game...
Scorpion1: Because it IS a game.

Heimin1: I hear a lot of people have died in mines.
Heimin2: Well, some have. It's a dangerous job.
Heimin1: Do you ever feel like they don't care about us?
Heimin2: I mean, the families are paid compensation, no?
Heimin1: What does money help when you lose your husband?
Heimin2: 5 koku is a lot money.

Ronin1: You know that ronin girl so many have been talking about?
Ronin2: The one some said had had dealings with Chrysanthemum officials even? Yurei?
Ronin1: I don't know anything about Chrysanthemum officials, but yeah, Yurei.
Ronin2: Let me guess - stories about her and the diva again?
Ronin1: No, you perv! Do you believe just anything you hear? Stop thinking of her that way!
Ronin2: Tsk. What then?
Ronin1: Seems like someone's found documents stating her family comes from a long line of honourable samurai!
Ronin2: Oh, really! That could explain why she acts so honourable, then.
Ronin1: An honourable ronin from an honourable family from the world of dreams. She's a role model, really!
Ronin2: ... and then I'm the one who's thinking too much about her?

Heimin1: Man, I hear they will be cutting rations again.
Heimin2: Really.
Heimin1: Yeah, there's talk they need more food for some orgy.
Heimin2: Who would want to have orgy after having miner's ration?
Heimin1: Some deviant samurai?
Heimin2: You have to be really deviant to want to eat that.
