D12 - Tiger 23rd

+++Thought for the Day+++
The burden of failure is the most terrible punishment of all

Weather

The new day dawns warm with few occasional clouds on the otherwise clear skies. As the day turns into night and the sun sets, the clouds begin to gather and by midnight the city is ravaged by yet another thunderstorm, the spirits of Fire dancing jubilant on the sky. The massive downpour that follows the storms causes drains to clog in the slums, the narrow streets flooded with water and waste.

Kisei is waxing gibbous.
Hakusei is waning gibbous.

Playing today at Once Upon A Theatre in Horogai mall...

Old Man
A Yoritomo courtier is kidnapped while on a diplomatic mission to the World of Dreams. He is imprisoned for nearly two decades with no demands from his captors but he is given the news that his wife has passed away and his Clan had declared him dead. One day, he is unexpectedly released without another word. After failing to reconnect to his old life or find his daughter, the courtier is forced to live life as a ronin and tasks himself to find those responsible for his imprisonment. During his misadventures, he forms an awkward romantic relationship with the ronin woman who shelters him. As the courtier digs further into his captors, he slowly discovers that he is part of a revenge plot that began in his childhood...

Scorpion1: Man, that nun was really hot.
Scorpion2: Yeah.
Scorpion1: You have to wonder why she was heading out. At that time.
Scorpion2: Maybe she went to placate lost souls?
Scorpion1: Maybe. Truly blessed by Fortunes, her.
Scorpion2: Yeah. All the blessings.

Crane1: How adorable! Seems like the Tsukune Sanctuary will house two new beasts soon!
Crane2: Really?? When will they be shown to the public?
Crane1: No details yet... apparently they're still very young.
Crane2: Oh? I wonder where they are coming from. Sea beasts, yeah?
Crane1: Nope! A salamander of some sort and a dragon newt. Both in the Grounds, I'm guessing!
Crane2: ... really? Weren't there some stories about a dragon newt some years ago? Hadn't it gone extinct?
Crane1: Maybe they found some surviving specimens?
Crane2: Maybe... *shrugs* Good news one way or another!

Scorpion1: Yet another dead ronin.
Scorpion2: They never learn, do they.
Scorpion1: Shot in the back.
Scorpion2: Live like a dog, die like a dog.

Scorpion1: There was shooting at the Dragon embassy yesterday?
Scorpion2: Now really?
Scorpion1: Yeah. guard pulled her gun on some poor bastard. Put two shots in him.
Scorpion2: And then?
Scorpion1: Took him in.
Scorpion2: That poor fucker is so toast.

Monk1: Since when ronin have had that much koku?
Monk2: I don't know.
Monk1: Makes you wonder.
Monk2: Doesn't it.
Monk1: Still, with this money we can set up another soup kitchen.

Scorpion1: Ack, the Drake Centre is closed? I'd hoped to see the drakes!
Scorpion2: Just for a few days - which is lucky! Haven't you heard what happened?
Scorpion1: Wait... not related to these news about monsters in the isles, was it?
Scorpion2: You bet! Apparently they were really fucked up too.
Scorpion1: Oh my Kami! Are the drakes alright though?
Scorpion2: Some drakes and people were hurt, but no deaths, apparently.
Scorpion1: Heck, I had no idea! If I had known these rumours were true I'd have come to help...
Scorpion2: Oh sure you would.
Scorpion1: I would! You know how much I love them drakes!
Scorpion2: Right. Don't worry, though - there were heroes. Including a Lion, a Minor Clanner and a Ronin.
Scorpion1: Wait... this isn't the start of a joke, is it?
Scorpion2: *chuckles*

Monk1: *Sighs* The Tokushin cult again...
Monk2: Seriously? What's it this time?
Monk1: Remember that incident in which some people were hurt at the Desolation and returned in skimpy clothes?
Monk2: The one where that green-eyed, green haired man had apparently lost his memories - and claimed he had lost his swords while fighting something?
Monk1: Exactly. Apparently that was related to the cult.
Monk2: ... not so surprising, now you mention it.
Monk1: I wonder what will become of that poor man, though...
Monk2: ...well, maybe he made friends in the cult?
Monk1: *Sighs again*
