Down the way, a block maybe, there was one that seemed to call her eye and a few more far cuter establishments between here and there, by her measure. Cuter, in this instance, merely meaning it had lighter pastel colors in the walls, floors, and furniture. Even the Scorpion worlds were tainted by such places, a shame really.

The Kuni Inquisition does not like cute or pastels, and puts it on par with taint.

Yūrei appears to be trying to dunk a cookie in tea despite both hands currently being full.

"I'm usually not a professional guide, but I know my way around well enough. There's more to see than just the usual tourist hotspots or festival, if you're careful."

Her statement is punctuated by a particularly loud bellowing of names from a passing float which appears to have rear-ended another. Unless there was a Bayushi Youbloodyidiot the yelling might not be entirely ceremonial.

[Matsu Hide]

From the Lion meeting.

"Hey..." Eriko crack a grin when Hide appeared in the room before remembering the formality of the occasion and dipping her head in a bow from her seat. "Good morning, Matsu-san, I'm glad you could make it."

There was a small smile on her lips when she sat next to her. Last night was hectic enough that she missed meeting Hide at the local spaceport. Traffic was extremely slow-moving in the rain and with the festivities. However, they were together now at least. The meeting felt less stuffy than her and a bunch of born-Lion originally.

"Ooooh, I don't know if I have that many achievements worthy of being published. That's more of the department I'm going to reserve for Matsu-san, here." She tilted her head to the side to indicate Hide with some casual fondness. "She's the one with all of the stories, I'm sure. She's made of heroic stuff and has the look to back it up. I'm just the cute one."

This is... Very cute. Warms my heart.

As someone pointed out elsewhere, this makes Mineichi's first IC word of the game "Ladies".

Pair of eyes trace the Kuni, then snap to the Yoritomo, the man bobbing his head to acknowledge her words. "Ladies." he murmurs, swinging his bokken to the side, whisking away the imaginary blood before 'cleaning' the hardwood with the hem of his gi - movements that one might make with a shinken looking rather clumsy with a wooden sword. Some habits died hard. "You came to practice?" Mineichi asked, taking a step back as if to beckon them both in. He made no introductions, possibly because he figured that none were necessary quite yet. "Or just to ogle?" Gleaming eyes betrayed the smile his mempo hid.

This gave me a chuckle:

Yamako hadn’t been able to restrain herself once she learned of the cat cafe. The difficulty would be in not making a spectacle of herself. She just…couldn’t quite control herself around fuzzy creatures.

“Hello, hi, please can I pet the cats, ok thanks!” She throws some money down on the counter, obviously desperate and picks up the first cat she sees, holding it tightly to her. However, this does not go terribly well.

“Why won’t you let me love you?” She says rather loudly as the cat escapes.

Hinata was still pointing.

"You know him? Did you break him out of a cage here????"

Even when hysterically questioning a possible eco-terrorist monkey pilferer, Crane manners kicked in and he bowed briefly.

"Hi, I'm Asahina Hinata."

Then the finger pointing at the escaped and/or stolen animal recommenced.

Hinata didn't usually drink much. Partly due to being quite small and easily tipsy, but mostly because Usagi Drop's! nutrition manager didn't let him.

There was no nutrition manager here, and a cute Scorpion waiter kept refilling his cup. The waiter would have to wait though, Hinata giggled at his own internal pun, there were people to talk to. Important people for important opinions.

"This needs an umbrella in it!"

"Maybe you could add plastic rainbow pangolins as a stirrer stick."

"Oh my, that tie does not go with that shirt!"

"I'm shorry, the room just span a bit . . . "

But when it came to the important part of the evening, Hinata managed to remember one of his many boyfriends worked for a Crane Sake Distributor and dropped the right name at the right time.

Hinata listened as carefully as he could but had lost the gist by about the third letter. Languages are hard, man.

"Sen . . pit . . . ? Ugh, gaijin? Can't be as good as us then."

Evidenced by they were here and the Senpet were not. The cats were here also, so they were better than Senpet as well.

"Well first time on the World of Dreams. I've been in the system before but we were just shuttling through and stopped for fuel or something."

He was as about as clued up on spaceship mechanics as he was on ancient history.

The amazing logic of "cats are here, therefore superior to everyone not here" is astoundingly fantastic.

Okuri did not expect things to go well, but perhaps not every bad bounce that came his way. The hail of fire that arrived was brutal and effective. The first two brought him to his knees. He began to raise his gun when the third arrived.

He slumped back, staring up at the evening sky.

Ow. It hurts. But now...for the briefest of moments...I am Kitsuki Inuzuki...once...more.

And then there was stillness and silence.

Our paths met for but a moment, but may Emma-O look kindly upon your soul, Kitsuki Inuzuki.

Reki watched the game with mild interest. It seemed very silly to her. Just a chance to see half naked folks bounce around. She was considering leaving when she saw him.

He was 6'2" with rippling muscles and a face to die for. His body moved like a panther as he hit the ball. He shifted and their eyes met. Reki gasped as a memory overtook her...

"There is one truth." Akodo Fuso said, his hooded eyes staring at the assembled cadets. "The glorious Army of the Lion has had many opponents, won many victories. But it wasn't until we went to space that our true enemy appeared before us." A symbol flashed onto the board. "If you remember no other words I say, carry these to your graves..."

"The Navy must die." Reki's eyes narrowed at the tattoo on the man's chest. A Lion in a field of stars. The Lion Navy.

.......

"What we do now is the most noble endeavor, Kuni-san. Let them taste the ashes of defeat. Send them back to the void covered in humiliation!" Reki screamed as she spiked the ball right into the Lion voidsman's face.

[Asahina Hinata]

Koroshi enjoyed mornings as much as any samurai did. Which is to say that he greeted the sun with bows, song, prayers, and occasionally dance. The ritual greeting took less than 10 minutes this time due to other constraints upon the samurai's time. Like boba! So no dancing this time.

Koroshi was a bright sun in the somber landscape of the cityscape. Yellow stripes clashed in battle with lime green and purple squares dotting the outer kimono while a pair of raised paldrons with pink and red streamers stood like goblins of fashion upon his shoulders. His Otomo ring was on his index finger.

He strode confidently into the tea restaurant and yelled to the server behind the counter, "YOUR FINEST MILK TEA WITH TAPIOCA BALLS!"

And followed up by doing a pose with his arms outstretched to allow his streamers to dangle behind him imposingly.

“Ah, shit!” He jumps around into a defensive odd kind of way to move both his feet away from more potential stepping. Worried, he asks, “You hurt, kiddo? Didn’t see you with all this reflection coming from the sand. Kami damned sand.”

Wow! What an excuse!

"Was it the sand or the swimsuit of invisibility? It gives +5 to all stealth rolls in beach environment." She jokes but she's obviously still in pain.

"Prettier than you?" She chuckles. "I remember him now and I highly doubt that. You have an exceptional pesonal style and so much energy that you just made my heart skip a beat." She playfully brings her hands over her heart. "Oh! It did it again!"

Hinata looked wide eyed over the yakitori stick in his mouth.

"Orrhhhhh noohhhhhhh!!!"

He quickly swallowed the bite he'd taken and started looking for his densai.

"I know a healing spell!!!! Don't collapse on me, Bayushi-sama!!!"

People going to Hinata because Asahina=healer are going to be in sad shape. I mean, I'm sure the kami will help a bit, but they're in trouble if they need actual medical knowledge there.

Finishing their match, Yakumo made sure that Hinata snapped a picture of the two of them together - smiling and throwing up v-signs. "It was a fun game, Hinata-san. Thank you."

Oh well, they had lost to a Mantis and a Firefly, so the Alliance was heading into the finals and all that.

"Make sure to let the band know you had a lot of fun today with the oshidama-game." Especially send the picture to Nazuna. Ohohohohoho.

Another rocket struck a bell, this one then pinwheeling away releasing a shower of golden sparks.

Hato nodded.

"Hotaru-san has the truth of the matter. Though the focus now is last minute changes before release. If one wishes to showcase their product before an assemblage such as this, releasing that a feature does not work as intended is a weighty problem. Especially if one has only been testing only one's own equipment. The different clans' approaches to programming means that sometimes they do not communicate with each other properly. Though at least when the software fails to communicate, it only fails to function and produces error messages, rather than challenging each other to a duel as in days of old." she said with a slight smile.

I'm just imagining incompatible apps dueling to the death...this is amusing and horrifying and gives new meaning to the term 'browser wars'.

I don't like to MM threads that I'm in, but damnit, this deserves recognition! In response to hearing about Rei's wife...

A lot of emotions were rolling through the Akodo's head. Her memories of her wife. The memories that would never be made. That one of the finest drinks in the Empire tasted like stale water at this particular moment.

And of course that she had opened up to a mostly complete stranger.

Then he teased out a bit of his own story, her more analytical side attempted to take charge. Then her empathy. What should she say? He had tried to comfort her. She knew she should say something to comfort him.

Taking another drink she sat the glass back down and said the first thing that came to her mind.

"That's rough buddy."

The words would have been rather cruel and dismissive were it not for the complete sincerity, confusion, and sadness on Reki's face as she said it.

As if it wasn't even a thought at all, "No," she says. Koyuki walks to the other side of the room, passing in front of Yurei, and sits down on a nearby surface. Using this position to reattached her gunbelt to her thigh, the sidearm still resting in it. There is a sort of disconnection from her to the conversation, as if the two things were happening in wholly separate spaces. Giving that feeling that this kind of discussion was almost no different than grabbing your morning coffee, or more pointedly dressing for your day.

"Introduce yourself. You have been given a kindness by a twist of good fortune. Return it to her. Life is dangerous, for ronin particularly. Don't you think it would be best if you stuck together? Perhaps not professionally, but two ronin can certainly sleep more comfortably at night than one alone."

Yūrei closing a mouth which had hung open a little in surprise.
"Oh, then it will be as you say. I shall endeavour to pay it back to Hato-san."

Some part of Koyuki's statement seems to tickle Yūrei and she quickly hides a smile.
"I can certainly confirm that, Kuni-sama. Many of my deepest sleeps were in the arms of another...uh, platonically. We're friends. Ronin friends."

Looking over Koyuki's sidearm with professional interest.
"It's the least I can do. It is a kind thing, I think. To pass good fortune on from one another."

"... uh, platonically. We're friends. Ronin friends."
